To all:

I update macOS Tahoe 26.0 to 26.0.1 on my Z390 machine. There are some Strangeness:

  • custom wallpaper replace to default
  • apps at startup (ESP Mounter, Heliport), apps in Applications folder (such as XCODE, Hackintool, PlistEdit Pro and Python) are moving to relocated items in Share folder.

Someone have the same issue or know why it's happen !

No issues on my side on the Mini and the Latitude 7400 test drive.

I haven't seen this, but my most recent Tahoe updates were incremental OTA via 'System Settings > General > Software Update.'  Did you perform the update with a full macOS installer (installing 26.0.1 over 26.0) or did you perform an incremental OTA update?  If there are others who experience the same issue, it would be good to know how they performed the update, too.

@deeveedee +1 here.

@AlfredoM You will be surprised that the encryption is mandatory for many industries. When we created the cybersecurity policy in the company I work for, that was one of the important requirements (1200 people). Same applies for Windows and MacOS users.

Now, if you talk about the few people playing with their hacks on the side and getting locked because of the FileVault/BitLocker...that's a whole different story. Tech forums are not a good representation of how "normal" people use the encryption :D

To finally put the data encryption issue to rest, I'd like to point out that as a private user, I don't need encryption!

I've been using Windows and macOS for 30 years now and have NEVER had a virus or malware on either operating system.

I'm smart enough to protect myself against it, and I've NEVER had data theft on my systems.

The people who encrypt their "supposedly valuable data"—as I said, I'm talking about purely private individuals who only occasionally

write emails and surf the web!—should use decent antivirus programs and not succumb to paranoia.

As the Italian coach of the German football club Bayern Munich once said some time ago:

Bottle empty, I'm done 🙂

Hi @deeveedee I perform an incremental OTA update via 'System Settings > General > Software Update' ?

Strangely enough, Bluetooth started working as soon as I installed the drivers, but Wi-Fi gave me a hard time. If you need the kexts themselves, I can send them to you.

Does itlwm work for you with virtualization enabled?

For me, it stops working if I try to activate AppleVTD. The itlwm cannot load the firmware.

Good evening, I have two systems on my computer: Sequoia and Tahoe. In Sequoia, the DisableloMapper and DisableloMapperMapping quirks are set to false. To check the functionality of the kext in Tahoe, as you can see, I enabled them. Without it, the Wi-Fi firmware, as you correctly noted, does not load.      Wi-Fi is not critical for me, the network card works, so we will wait until the kext is updated or a new open core is released.

Setting DisableIoMapper to true disables AppleVTD. (But AppleVTD is required for the Intel i225-V ethernet DriverKit, although there’s a workaround for this - using the old AppleIntelI210Ethernet.kext from Monterey.)

So can you confirm if you have AppleVTD enabled (you can check in the IORegistryExplorer) and working Wi-Fi in Sequoia at the same time?

Is this issue only affecting Tahoe?

Don't rant, I know this is off topic.

I have a problem with the "Download Full Installer" app.

A download of 15.7.1 stopped at 16 GB, and now my macOS partition only shows 26 GB because the downloaded 16 GB is still taking up space.

Question: Where does the "Download Full Installer" save the downloads?
I go to Users/Library/Application Support and I don't see anything about the "Download Full Installer."

Thanks for the quick tip. I want to install 15.7.1 Sequoia on another Mac today.

Thanks for the unfriendly non-help... but I found it myself 😞

I always use my own script to download the full installer app as below.

You can download the InstallAssistant.pkg anytime as you want, FYI.

installScriptAllfullapp26.zip

In Tahoe, VT-D must be enabled for this NIC to work. I have it enabled with patched DMAR table and dropped DMAR in ACPI-Delete as explained here https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Universal/dmar-methods/manual.html#dropping-the-dmar-table This works in Sequoia too obviously, with AppleIGC kext also working in Sequioa but not in Tahoe.

In Sequoia, the DisableloMapper and DisableloMapperMapping quirks are set to false.  As you can see in the screenshot on Sequoia, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AppleVTD, and the network are working perfectly. This only affects Mac OS Tahoe. I need to enable these two DisableloMapper and DisableloMapperMapping quirks for Wi-Fi to work. But in this case, Apple VTD does not work.

@AlfredoM

DFI downloads in the default Downloads folder.
User data are in the user Library -> Containers -> DownloadFullInstaller, as is a sandboxed app.
There was an issue with the permission to write in the Downloads folder, fixed in latest release. Maybe this is what happens to you.
Remove the folder user/Library/Containers/DownloadFullInstaller and download latest release and comment, please.

I also tried tweaking the DMAR tables, but it didn’t make any significant difference for me, so I left them unchanged.

I’m able to get the i225-V working even without AppleVTD, as I mentioned previously. Here are the details:

boot args: e1000=0
DisableIOMapper: true
DisableIoMapperMapping: false
and the old AppleIntelI210Ethernet.kext from Monterey (it's still working with Tahoe too)

With AppleVTD disabled, itlwm works in Tahoe. But it just turn out that itlwm actually works together with AppleVTD in Sequoia. So this seems to be a Tahoe-specific problem.

But what I’d like is to have AppleVTD, working Intel wifi and working i225V with DriverKit in Tahoe all at the same time.

The Download Full Installer folder in Library/Containers/Downloadfullinstallers must NOT be removed, not even in the brand new version,

otherwise the DFI will no longer be available in the app !!

friend @miliuco... yesterday I was visiting a friend and I wanted some quick help because he won't be with me forever!

It was already 3 a.m. for me, and in the US, it was only 9 p.m. on the East Coast, and there are a lot of users online here.

And I thought someone would reply quickly so I could get on with it. That's what I meant.

And I've included the latest link to DFI for you.

I then installed the latest DFI, and it worked without any problems, despite the limited available space on the macOS partition, which was only 25 GB.

@tlac my new plan is to try the new Broadcom kext developed by @Austere.J using a BCM943602CS card which is supposed to be compatible. Hopefully this will allow me to have both wifi and Ethernet since this new kext and I-225V would co-exist with Apple VT-D enabled.
