CloverLeaf
I was able to get Intel wireless working on my Coconut hack. Initially the kext wasn't loading for some strange reason so I started from scratch and rebuild the whole EFI. I confirm now Airportitlwm Preview 5 is working on all my hacks. AX211, AX210, 9560NGW and 8260NGW (in my HackMini just for the test). The only bug I found is when I open the Network menu in System Preferences the whole system crashes. Weird but I am sure it will be fixed in the next release. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357733-pre-release-macos-sonoma-141/page/2/#findComment-2811777 Share on other sites
PoMpIs
Today I have also been encouraged.... I only use MacOS to test betas...😅 I have tried it on my son's computer, because on mine I have switched to an RTX4000... and I am very happy with this new nVidia... I had an SSD on this computer with an old Sonoma installation in beta... I updated OpenCore, and everything has worked great. It is a very nice system, and it works wonderfully. but I won't use it as my daily operating system anymore... 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357733-pre-release-macos-sonoma-141/page/2/#findComment-2811778 Share on other sites
AppleBreak
Updated to Sonoma 14.1 on my Yorkfield machine. Thanks to @Stefanalmare, after reading his post about OCLP USB1.1 patch and the kexts having issues with 14.1, I've applied OCLP patches after disabling the USB1,1 patch from its source. For the time being USB2.0 hub will do. 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357733-pre-release-macos-sonoma-141/page/2/#findComment-2811791 Share on other sites

deeveedee
Hi, everyone. Sorry I've been away for a while. I hope everyone is doing well. I have a slightly off-topic request and I hope you'll forgive me for the intrusion. I'm working on a novel and I could use your help with ideas. It goes something like this. A group of really nice, well-intended developers created a piece of software that gains instant approval and wide-spread adoption. The really nice developers achieve celebrity status. Unbeknownst to the really nice, well-intended developers, one of the core team members has accepted a substantial bribe from a nation-state. In return for the bribe, the nation-state is permitted to inject innocuous, seemingly harmless code that allows the nation-state to steal identities and hack bank accounts of the users of the popular software. Using unauthorized, personally identifiable information collected during the Beta tests (collected even when the "Disable Analytics Slider" was enabled), in addition to user identity information collected from MacRumors, InsanelyMac, Discord and other online forums, the nation-state develops a list of targets for their malicious exploits. Meanwhile, the really nice, well-intended developers continue to enjoy their celebrity status; so much so, that users of their software actually make donations to them and erect a statue of them in their honor. I've only gotten that far. Does that sound like an exciting plot? Any suggestions for additional plot themes / ideas? deeveedee
It occurs to me that my plot idea only makes sense if there are enough targets for exploitation. Does anyone know how many Macs were sold that are now no longer supported by Apple, but are supported by OCLP? Oh - and how many hackintosh users are now able to use OCLP? Do you think we're talking more than 10 or 20? Silly me - I'm forgetting that the list of targets will only grow to include virtually all Intel Macs, since Apple will continue to remove Macs from the list of supported devices. Jeesh - the list of targets has to be at least 100! EDIT: The good thing is that all those unsuspecting Intel Mac users are members here who monitor this forum, so they'll know as soon as an exploit is discovered. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357733-pre-release-macos-sonoma-141/page/2/#findComment-2811870 Share on other sites
deeveedee
Someone please tell me that I'm not the only one who thought of this plot. If you are interested in my background and would like to know what might have given me the idea and made me qualified to write about this, see here. notobo
Little off. Plot is my friend trivial, State must not contact one or more devs from OCLP, they can buy them all. Your plot can exists for every popular application today, free or paid, because State has better control through official chanells like MS, Google, Adobe or independent devs .... If i am living two hundred {censored}in' years, like Marlon Brando sad in Last tango, I will never discover their nature why, and more importantly how they made these exploits to steal my Bank ID, and for what reason? To hack my bank accounts These people here, our m8s, dont have interesting capital for them...if we are bloody rich, we'll buy Mac Pros 2023 with 6 Apple 8K monitors and not playing like kids on day to day basis, with archaic technology 10-20 years old My friend, when you conect network cable or connect through wifi to your Mac, PC, or Hackintosh, you are totaly nude to serious hackers. Bribing one dev of popular app to misrepresent his creative programing job and go on the dark side for little cash, has one fatal hole in your story: His team m8s are for sure totaly dumbasses if they cant see what he's doin'. Skyfallkavu
On 9/29/2023 at 10:28 AM, jsl2000 said: Thanks, but I think it's related to AMD GCN instead of USB 1.1. Because I run the same OCLP for Intel Haswell & Modern Wireless patches in my Z97 Hackintosh, it works perfectly without such an issue. [Edit] I can confirm that it's due to OCLP's patch of AMD Legacy GCN instead of USB 1.1. I have made a special OCLP 0.6.9 without USB 1.1 patch. After OCLP patch of AMD legacy GCN only in my P6TSE hackintosh, reboot always got KP of the same type ! I believe if run OCLP patch of AMD GCN in my Z77 hackintosh it will get the same KP again. For example in my another hackintosh which had Kepler GPU can reboot without this KP after OCLP applied. Another possibility is no KDK required in this hackintosh of i5-6500 CPU. Seeing the same on a genuine macbookpro14,3. Back to 14.0 for now until this is noticed. Update: Experimented a bit more and can confirm, definitely related to GCN graphics patching. Reverting to previously sealed volume ( https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/commit/aa7be2163fde09b029b33b32a9582dcad27d5911 ) can fix boot. I'm speculating, but I noticed we don't have an available KDK since 14.0 23A5337a. It is likely something changed, and we'll need to watch https://developer.apple.com/download/all/ for the 14.1 KDK to get posted. It'll be worth trying again then. Yes, need put compatible arguments on DeviceProperties, extracting with Hackintool. For exemple: Use Hackintool, PCIe, extract and config.plist for your devices will be extract. Use this boot args if you will try Sonoma with OCLP: ipc_control_port_options=0 (this is for working WhatsApp and Firefox). -lilubetaall -brcmfxbeta -amfipassbeta -keempsyms=1 dart=0 Need use AirportBrcmFixup.kext if you not have native BRCM4360 with Device pcie14e4,43a0 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357733-pre-release-macos-sonoma-141/page/2/#findComment-2811905 Share on other sites

Fullstop. I hadn't considered that the entire team would be paid and bought by the nation-state. I like it - I'll change the plot. For those wondering why I've gone off on this crazy tangent, it occurred to me how utterly insane I was for allowing uncertified, 3rd-party software to require that SIP be partially disabled, allow it to root my hack (breaking the macOS "seal"), allow it to install uncertified software at the network layer (for Wi-Fi) and then to trust my hack for anything that requires data privacy, data integrity and protected digital identity. I am typing this on my HackMini8,1 that does not require OCLP. I will be removing OCLP from my Dell laptop and reverting to High Sierra on that laptop. I already changed all passwords associated with websites that I visited while using my OCLP-patched Dell laptop. In order for OCLP to be trustworthy for me, it would need one of the following: The ability to patch graphics and Wi-Fi without breaking the MacOS "seal" (and thus without rooting my hack) and the ability to perform the patches without requiring SIP to be partially or fully disabled - OR - A certified attestation of the chain of custody of the OCLP software (all of it - the python and the post-install patches) and a certification from a FIPS-certified lab that OCLP and the post-install patches are safe and secure. This certified chain of custody and lab test would need to accompany each new OCLP version. Just my personal opinion, but if you are using OCLP, which requires you to partially disable SIP, allow OCLP to break the macOS "seal" and allow OCLP to inject uncertified 3rd-party software into your rooted-Mac or rooted-hack and you continue to do your online banking with your Mac, make stock trades with your Mac, login to your e-mail with your Mac or even something seemingly harmless like login to your FaceBook page, you are placing yourself in grave danger.
