@deeveedee

This one's for you since I know how much you love to see "About This Mac" screenshots :D

Spoiler

But jokes aside, I changed the SMBIOS form iMac18,3 to iMac17,1 on my Skylake rig and added these boot arguments: amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1 -no_compat_check and booted into macOS Ventura without any issues.

The sad thing is that I can't do clean install using the same iMac17,1 SMBIOS on the Skylake rig without having to use a supported SMBIOS like iMac18,3. The installer boots ok and all but I can't install it because it says "macOS Ventura beta is not compatible with this Mac."

Hi Fernando,

Would you mind sharing your EFI Ventura Acer Aspire (Skylake) folder ? 😉

I believe that the proper name for that EFI is the "Acer Ventura" EFI.

I have found several items/parameters in which yours are different from mine.

If you like, please try my config.plist (fill your related SN, remove those you don't need, etc.) to test whether mine is working for your hackintosh with OC 0.8.3

For example you did not apply SSDT-PLUG.aml in your ACPI which's usually required by Haswell hackintoshs.

config.plist 32.47 kB · 7 downloads

I tried with your config.plist, and updating Kexts and Drivers into your config.plist, and always halting on critical error at early boot

I tried with this https://github.com/Naufal828/Haswell-Hackintosh-RX460, by modifying it with my config, and getting the same as mine, not really Metal acceleration too. I have put SSDT-PLUG.aml, but still the same

Thank you.

Updated to beta 7, weirdly enough still have issues with IINA/VLC..

found this thread on reddit, seems to be a common issue though.

With VLC, IINA...... and also in MPV+SVP

I have tried it in 3 Rzyentosh, and an alder lake, with RX6600, RX6600XT, and 6800XT and it fails in all of them.... maybe by the time we have MacOS 13.3 they will solve it 😆

Have you succeeded to install Ventura on your 2015 iMac yet?

Dear friend, I'm stuck or at least I think so.

  • I boot OCLP 0.5.0 alpha >> it detects that I am on an iMac17,1 which is the actual SMBIOS model (Ventura not supported)
    Spoiler

  • Build and Install Open Core.

But when I boot from this EFI (USB or HDD) the SMBIOS model has never changed or at least I don't know how to see it because in About this Mac and in System Profile I keep seeing iMac17,1, the change to iMac18 .2 is nowhere. And if I try to install Ventura the forbidden sign comes out ☹️

According to the reddit thread, if you delete the VLC preferences and open the video files from within vlc (via File -> Open) then it manages to survive for an entire movie duration lol

Quicktime works well, but I never realised how bad quictime is compared to IINA (no subtitles, weird keyboard shortcuts).. I'll just stop watching movies until the fix it.

@miliuco

As far as I know with the minimal spoofing the actual SMBIOS won't change, the OC upon boot will override the NVRAM so the installer can boot and then once the installation is finished and once you boot into macOS it will show the original SMBIOS.

But if you can't boot the installer there must be something wrong with the OCLP's EFI settings.

To state the obvious make sure you boot from the OCLP's EFI by using the option key and once it's booted you'll see the OC's picker and then boot the installer.

@miliuco

I really doubt the you need to chose advanced spoofing to be honest but it won't hurt to try tho.

I will compile a new EFI for you later if OCLP lets me and I will sent it to you via PM

Try this - I made the same mistake as you did, had SecureBootModel=Disabled instead of = Default.

PS - The type in red should have said 'This is correct Now'

Screenshot 2022-09-13 at 08.14.15.png

config.plist 38.5 kB · 0 downloads

@eSaF you have SMBIOS iMac20,1. You can use SecureBootModel=j185.

Halting on critical error

Thanks will try that....

Also I have Kepler card I just updated to Ventura Beta 7 but while running the Alpha 0.5.0 oclp it's asking for Kernel Debug Kit need 22A5342f

Whit latest OCLP you don't need Kernel Debug Kit for Kepler, is need it only for old AMD. Compile OCLP again.
