It is so great to hear the new developments on the new kernels. :D My question is to all OSX gurus out here is in regard to the graphics sytem.

Recently i wanted to add a dedicated video card but something went wrong with the order of a x1900GT card. Now I will either put a DVI working video card (like a powercolor x1600 XT) or something more powerfull. Like for instance the coming GeForce 8800 GTS. This promises to be a beast of a card.

Will the new kernels make it possible for the nvidia drivers present in OSX to work natively? So that qe and ci and resolution change will be possible.

The ATI cards doesn´t have the EFI problem?

I have a x1800GTO working without DVI but full acceleration QE and CI support.

I think, we just need that someone with the new kernel working and a 7300GT or 7600GT for test and play with some kexts.

I always love NVIDIA card for linux, bsd, solaris support, but if I want OSX with full graphics I need to make the switch.

We need testers.

Is there any interested?

er I think this needs some fix and I think np_ can help us.macvidia's site is down and maybe np_ is doing some job to help nvidia cards work.i think a new macvidia release is near, cause 10.4.8 has been hacked and the kernel has kext support for 7300.So ,at least the 7 series nvidia cards have big chance to work.

I have a 7300gt, so I asked this question directly to semthex in the thread FINALLY WORKS!, but got no answer... If I have time, I will try it later today...

So, I tried to use mifki's kernel...

I can boot in single user mode, when I try the standard boot I get to the blue screen with a spinning beach ball...

Anyway something seems to happen as the NVDANV40HAL kext is succesfully loaded... maybe finally my 7300gt is going to work (if I can find a way to pass the blue screen!!)

Apple NV drivers work...sort of :sorcerer:

It will still need some hacks btw :D

Did you use semthex or mifki kernel???

I still get the blue screen after doing more or less everything I found on this board that may solve the issue... tried -f -x -v , repaired permissions etc....

I get the same screen stutter effect as above.

The bottom half of the screen seems to update but not the top half? I dont know if that's the best way to explain it. Mostly when scrolling, etc. When you open something new the whole screen refreshes.

Geforce.kext, NVDAN40Hal, NVDAResman kexts load automatically

However no res change, nor QE/CI.

I haven't changed anything yet.

I'm still didn't able to pass the damn blue screen as most of us, but In verbose, we can see clearly how NVDAN40HAL loads sucesfully, but after this, we also see "Display Adapter MistMatch" or something like that.

Maybe its a problem with the device ID?? info.plist editing??

Dunno, time will tell..
