trav1085
It doesn't really matter to me, but you notice in my above screenshot that It says "3.6 GHz Unknown" and before it said "3.6 GHz Celeron D" Just wondering what caused that to happen, and why? Just wondering JaS, who is victori? <string>Thanks to victori, without him this would not be this complete and would have taken longer. good Luck, JaS</string> from Description.plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29656-mac-os-1048-jas-sse3-problembug-forum/#findComment-204743 Share on other sites
toddicus
it first broke Safari, Mail, Dashboard, software update, but I replaced webkit.framework and all is well there. arma33
Hi, And thank's to all fot job and for JaS for greats releases... hope to be continued ... A problem on JaS update 10.4.8 issued on a perfectly working 10.4.7 install, I loose samba connection on my Microsoft network, is there a problem with Jas 10.4.8 and SAMBA ( as on previously released versions) Thank's * Arma33 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29656-mac-os-1048-jas-sse3-problembug-forum/#findComment-204848 Share on other sites
Rammjet
is there a problem with Jas 10.4.8 and SAMBA ( as on previously released versions) JaS published a note that before running his 10.4.8 update, you should modify the package by moving the "postflight" file from the Contents folder to the Resources folder. If you failed to do this, then you would need to repair permissions using the install DVD and you would have to use the Networking patch (for Samba and AFP) that was produced for 10.4.7. bgrau
Even in 10.4.7, I cannot boot in gui safe mode. What is strange is that in 10.4.7 it stays stuck on a white screen. Whereas with 10.4.8 it gets stuck on a red screen.... go figure lol :pirate2: I guess will have to live with it... :censored2: and since that was my main issue about upgrading to JaS 10.4.8, will go back to it soon, but prefer to do it from the combo, maybe some other weird bugs will have been ironed out in the combo... It will help if someone confirms that they cannot safe mode gui boot... maybe it is my own system... will try later in vmware and see if safe boot gui is possible... sev7en
Did you think it's better to keep safe the 10.4.7? I have this but as far as I read the 10.4.8 is not so safe... Rammjet
combo updates meaning... 10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, 10.4.7 to 10.4.8? A delta update only updates the previous version - update from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 A combo update contains files to update several versions - update 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 or 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 Delta updates from Apple are just called updates. Combo updates from Apple are called combo updates. willgonz
I was on JaS 10.4.7. Tried JaS 10.4.8 just as it sits. Now it appears I don't have admin rights. Going to try and boot from the DVD and do repair permissions. I have a SSE3 cpu. toddicus
I have found a solution for the problem with DVDSP importing .m2v files created by compressor. This worked for me and I tested it by breaking it again and fixing again and rebooting a few times to make sure it stays fixed. I replaced /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleVA.framework with the AppleVA.framework from the 10.4.6 update (v3) package, that was it, worked for me, haven't found any problems yet. Tested with 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 worked for me with both. -Todd Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29656-mac-os-1048-jas-sse3-problembug-forum/#findComment-206154 Share on other sites
willgonz
Repair permissions did not work for me. My system is completely unstable. I highly recommend not doing this patch until the bugs are worked out. When I open my applications folder I get the pinwheel mouse cursor for like 30 seconds. If I go to the command prompt and do a sudo anything I get the password prompt and it still fails to process the command as root. Pacifst gave errors saying that it could not access Root. I used the install DVD and Resat all my passwords. Still no root.
