JaS
Playback is fine on my rig, looks like more and more sse3 instructions are being added to the systems core apps. And maxxuss sse3 emulator is working overtime. Not good news for sse2 users. As a test try running your video files in VLC. Rammjet
do we need to install new updated verions of the plug-ins as well? Verify that you still have the plugins installed. I believe someone else reported that his plugins disappeared and had to be reinstalled. Unless they added divx/xvid support by default to Quicktime 7.1.3 I think they have the plugins installed. Kingy
Already tried qt 7.1.2 but os x prevent me from installing saying that there is already a newer version installed Maybe I haven't carefully read Rammjet post: should I appzapp qt 7.1.3 and then install qt 7.1.2 ? Rammjet
Already tried qt 7.1.2 but os x prevent me from installing saying that there is already a newer version installed Try deleting all Quicktime receipts in the following folder: /Library/Receipts If that doesn't work, MacFixit ( http://www.macfixit.com ) has several suggestions for iTunes 7 and Quicktime 7.1.3 problems and they recommend to do the following to downgrade: 1. Download the QuickTime 7.0.1 re-installer, launch it and follow the instructions to revert to that version. --then-- 2. Download and install the QuickTime 7.1.2 updater. (which you already have) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27547-qt-713-update-problems/#findComment-187943 Share on other sites
sniperviper
@jas: with vlc nearly all files will play smoothly (using latest nightly build) apple implemented new mpeg4.components which will not work properly on sse2-machines @rammjet: several plugins were replaced during updating QT tried to re-install them but with no success (even by using pacifist) i would say: 1:0 for apple :-( Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27547-qt-713-update-problems/#findComment-188081 Share on other sites

wesley
I get an error that the file couldn't be opened on ALL formats now. QT7.1.3 with Dothan Pentium M 1.6GHz system with 910GML+GMA900 setup. This is SSE2-only. QT will open the files under Rosetta, albeit INCREDIBLY slowly. Until the issues are fixed I'm sticking with VLC. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27547-qt-713-update-problems/#findComment-190006 Share on other sites
ProjectTux
After installing the update, Quicktime 7.1.3 can play my .avi files natively. However, I'm not getting any sound from it. Regular sounds from programs like VLC still work, albeit still from the left speaker only. System specs are in my sig. flatlyna
I've got super slow .mp4 file playback after the 7.1.3 update on my Dothan 2GHz SSE2. ohpossum
QT 7.1.3 completely killed the sound on my Dell D600. AC97Audio.kext could still be loaded, and I could adjust volumes and whatnot, but no sounds from any programs or the system. I think QT 7.1.3 makes radical changes to CoreAudio such that it doesn't work on SSE2 systems, and/or takes advantage of some instructions that SSE3 emulation just can't handle.. No amount trying to revert back to 7.1.2 worked. I borked my system up even more in the process of ridding it of 7.1.3. The only solution (for me) was to reinstall. So, word of warning, don't mess with QT 7.1.3 unless you have time reinstall if it messes things up terribly. op Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27547-qt-713-update-problems/#findComment-190854 Share on other sites
Mr.Sticky
Running the solution mentioned by Rammjet from the maxfixit forums kills a hackintosh. I just tried it, as ohpossum did, and it messed up my installation. It seems the 7.0.1 re-installer installs files which kill the GUI somehow. You have access to the doc but nothing else on the desktop, and a few other apps didnt seem to run (well, i just tried firefox). Anyway, I was able to get my system going without a reinstall by running software update and re-installing QT 7.1.3. So I'm back to square 1... This is quite annoying, however, if there was some way to execute the QT 7.1.2 install after doing the 7.0.1 re-installer then you'd be set. Unfortunately I dont know how to run installs from the console (which was functional). Anyone know how to do that? I'll do some digging tomorrow but i'm fed up with this for tonight. Should have known that Apple updates would kill hackintoshes eventually, but from now on i'll definitely check forums before trying them. Mr.Sticky
Ok, so i have found a solution for rolling back to Quicktime 7.1.2. 1. Download the Quicktime 7.0.1 re-installer: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/qui...einstaller.html 2. Download Quicktime 7.1.2: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/qui...e712formac.html 3. Mount the Quicktime 7.1.2 .dmg and copy the .pkg file somewhere easy to get at. 4. Run the 701 re-installer and reboot when finished. Note: When OSX reboots it will not load any desktop icons, and many programs will not function. 5. Run Termnal (I have this in my dock for easy access, if you dont have it there you will need to access it somehow without using the Finder) 6. Go to the directory where you copied the quicktime712.pkg file 7. Execute the following command: sudo installer -pkg QuickTime712.pkg -target / 8. After it completes reboot and voila! This worked for me, but I can't guarantee it will for everyone. After the reinstall i have .wmv and .avi support via my old flip4mac which i am happy with -no QT updates for me for a while! IAN edit -fixed the qt 712 link Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/27547-qt-713-update-problems/#findComment-191651 Share on other sites
