I saw in another thread that you reverted back to another version, but did you find a solution for this? Has anyone found a solution for this one? I reverted to JaS 10.4.6 DVD where samba works fine. Apparently I read that if you do a manual upgrade to 10.4.7 using JaS 10.4.7 updater & Semjaza's 10.4.7 decrypts, Samba will be OK. StarForge Posted August 27, 2006 Share Posted August 27, 2006 I tried the manual upgrade, but it didn't seem to make any difference I don't think its a problem with Samba anymore, its more a problem with the 'Connect to Server' thing... which currently doesn't do anything no matter what input its given. miramar Posted August 28, 2006 Share Posted August 28, 2006 OK, I reinstalled 10.4.6 because of smb probs with 10.4.7. I also installed JaS 10.4.7 updater followed by Semjaza's 10.4.7 decrypts and samba & 'Connect to' dialog is working. As starforge noted, it might not be a samba prob. I encountered the same 'Connect to' dialog not responding to a mouse click problem. For all we know, it might just be a shell script with the wrong permisssions. mir... Example: server=192.168.10.100 username=john password=secret share=myshare mountpoint=~/myshare (~ = homedir.) 1. mkdir ~/myshare 2. mount_smbfs //john:secret@192.168.10.100/myshare ~/myshare That's it. I'm using this on a clean JaS 10.4.7 install. Check if you've spaces in your sharename. In that case you have to use quotes. Has anyone figured out WHAT the problem is though? Is it something in finder, or a link problem? It doesn't look like a samba problem to me. Sure, mapping it manually works, but I really don't want to go through it every time I need something off my box, or write a script for it, because linking it with ln -s dosn't work for some odd reason (This may be it? a link/library problem?) and it won't show up on the desktop. If the source of the problem could be identified, it could probably be fixed easily. I imagine its a little nothing somewhere doing it. BTW: Great work JaS. I see a speed improvement over 10.4.6 slightly, and thank you for including the Radeon X1000 patch, I notice a speed improvement on Jedi Academy by 10fps. Some apps launch faster too. mwgdrwg Posted January 12, 2007 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Thanks BugsBunny this worked for me (running 10.4.8) after no joy with couple of other patches this one did the trick - brief moment of panic when machine froze on reboot but then on second reboot os loaded with initial shaky graphics, third reboot absolutely fine and samba working great As a footnote repaired disk permissions - found one error with library. However, file transfer is dead slow, like 10mbit/sec. But if I start a fast download from safari or firefox such as a quicktime HD movie trailer, then the transfer speed is fast like normal LAN speed. As soon as the download finishes, the speed goes back to slow again. I tried the 10.4.7 samba fix also, but that had no effect. This is the only problem I have with my 10.4.8 Jas installation. Everything else work. Hope there's a 10.4.8 Samba Fix soon.
