idiot
Hi all, i've tried JaS ISO 10.4.7 I can't connect to any XP shares on network, although it shows me the names of the server on finder. It gives me "The alias XXX could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found". I came back to JaS 10.4.6; it works flawless. I tried once again 10.4.7; always the same error. I tried some tricks without any success : - delete keychain - copy smbfs.kext from 10.4.6 - use the connect function in finder (smb://...) None works. But i can connect through terminal client with smbclient. Can anyone help me please, i would love to stay under clean 10.4.7 ? Thanks, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25586-jas-1047-smb-pb/ Share on other sites

BuXb
I attached the Samba Fix to this posting (482 kb). It is meant for 10.4.6 but should work on 10.4.7, too. VirtualGuitarist
Thanx BugsBunny ! you should make a sticky thread with your patch ! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25586-jas-1047-smb-pb/#findComment-173261 Share on other sites

munky
bunnny - you create the thread and i'll sticky it. i'm saddened to see this problem creep into the new jas disc - i would have thought he'd have sorted it (as well as the IOPCIFamily autologin / CI problem) for the 10.4.7 disc. alas my perfect install disc still eludes me... its still a great disc tho Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25586-jas-1047-smb-pb/#findComment-173416 Share on other sites

BuXb
@ VirtualGuitarist: has the SMB patch repaired YOUR network connections? If it doesn't change anything for anybody with this 10.4.7 problem it would be counterproductive to make it sticky .. amethat
did anyone get the patch above to work? I could not get it to extract. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25586-jas-1047-smb-pb/#findComment-173734 Share on other sites
BuXb
extract? There is nothing "to extract"! Boot Mac OS 10.4.7, double click the dmg - it will mount automatically to your desktop. Then doubleclick the SambaFix_for_10.4.6.pkg inside and simply follow the instructions .. You are not seriously trying to "unpack" the .dmg in Windoze, are you .. ?? Bearcat
When you download SambaFix_for_10.4.6.pkg.dmg in safari, it tries to download SambaFix_for_10.4.6.pkg.dmg.zip and when the download is finished tries to decompress the zip and fails. Just rename SambaFix_for_10.4.6.pkg.dmg.zip to SambaFix_for_10.4.6.pkg.dmg and then double click on it to mount the dmg. It's not really a zip file. hope that helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25586-jas-1047-smb-pb/#findComment-173748 Share on other sites

Bearcat
When you download the attachment, why does it have a ".zip" attached to the end of the file name? I don't have this issue for other dmgs downloaded from other sites. Did Firefox automatically append a .zip when you attached it? keeshond
I didn't work for me too. I have some more "complaints": 10.4.7 JaS constantly says that I haven't got enough rights to, for example empty the bin and stuff.
