Azimutz & meklort,

Im turning toward you cause you're the most active Chameleon developers at the the moment ;) Im checking the repository very, very often.

I can no longer boot with Chameleon trunk revs. 909 (meklort: Updated Kernel Start hook for lion + prelion. Added backa few @'s) and 911. Maybe Im missing something? Im always manually installing Chameleon.

EDIT: Actually what happens is constant reboot loop with revs. 909 & 911.

The latest Chameleon rev I can boot with is 902.

Thank you in advance for your help with the above.

I have the same issue. I can't boot rev 911 or 909. It reboots my pc instead showing GUI. The latest working rev for me is 905. I haven't uploaded new revs for Chameleon Wizard, yet.

Hi guys...

Azimutz & meklort,

Im turning toward you cause you're the most active Chameleon developers at the the moment :) Im checking the repository very, very often...

LoL.. Rednous, you honor me by calling me a dev :( thanks but, you guys shouldn't consider me as a dev. I'm just a "sorcerer's apprentice".

Let me test the booter, see if i can be of some assistance... brb...

Edit: it boots fine here. I can't test the trunk directly because of the new ATI GraphicsEnabler code, but i used the Cleancut from my branch

(with ATiGraphicsEnabler module; old code), which is synced with the trunk, being the only difference the GraphicsEnabler modules.

Here is the bdmesg:

Don't know what's going on... are you guys using any module?

I see :(:), anyway, thanx for your dedication and help :)

Also a very quick question, please :) I see there's UseKernelCache key added soon to Chameleon and I was wondering if I can use it with SL and the "sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions" command to speed up the SL boot?

Check my previous post, i just updated it.

yep, but you will have to install any kext you have on Extra into S/L/E; that's why UseKernelCache is disabled by default.

No need for "sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions"; i mean, you can use it to trigger the update of the kext cache but

it will do nothing for the kernelcache. Just let the system do it's thing, or use

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel

this will update the kernelcache. Check "man kextcache" for more details :)

Azimutz, thanx for your test and fast answer :(

Im not using modules (i deleted the Resolution.dylib cause it gives me an error on boot). Just using the Symbos.dylib, klibc.dylib and uClibcxx.dylib.

Strange case with these last revisions :)

meklort will uncover the mistery, i guess :)

@kirasir: yep, contant reboot loop :)

Kirasir, if by "my trunk" you mean the Cleancut folder, whatever the problem you guys are having with the trunk is,

it's also on Cleancut. If you are using any of the modules present on the trunk, remove them to exclude possibilities;

those modules are not mandatory!

Rednous, remove the remaining modules and try again :(

You mean deleting the following:

Extra/modules/Resolution.dylib, klibc.dylib and uClibcxx.dylib

Extra/Symbos.dylib

I think the constant reboot loop may have something common with this rev. 909 change: "meklort: Updated Kernel Start hook for lion + prelion. Added backa few @'s"

Removed all of them & no luck, same reboot loop :(. Guess its boot file related with the rev. 909 - "Updated Kernel Start hook for lion + prelion. Added backa few @'s"

yeah, remove them all. Symbols.dylib is not meant to be used; it's embedded on boot file by default. Only use the modules on "modules" folder...

and as i mentioned, none of the modules are mandatory atm. The only one that does anything it's Resolution; it reads the resolution from EDID and

sets it, if it's working properly.

Nop, r909 can't be the problem... maybe 907.

Kirasir, got ya... both booters have the same problem, whatever it is. Try the modules thing.. if it doesn't work i'll try something.

I see... removed all of them and no luck :( Resolution.dylib never worked for me -- gives me an error, use a dump tool to dump the VBIOS and the send it to an email. That's why I don't use Resolutions.dylib.

Ok, try the attached boot file.

The attached rev. 911 boots OK :) So, now you know where's the problem and could fix the trunk :(

Nop, r909 can't be the problem... maybe 907.

907 only adds an additional check for code that was causing an issue, that check shouldn't be causing any problems. Then again, I could say the same about all of the revision from 905+.

For everyone that's having the issue, it'd be useful to know exactly which revision causes the issue. If you could test out from 905 to 909 and see which one breaks, I'd help tracking down what's happening. Make sure when you compile that you run make clean first just to be safe.

As far as Symbols.dylib, as you mentioned, it's no longer needed; It's embedded into boot by default (only time it isn't is if you disable to module system completely). If you do have it in /Extra/modules/ it will be ignored.

aah, nice :) the problem it's on r907, i just reverted it; there's a value that Mek changed that i don't know if it was a mistake or not?!

Mek, you're there :( this value "p->CPU.Model >= CPUID_MODEL_PENRYN" it was 26, NEHALEM; can it be the problem?

Thanks for explanation above.

"Errare humanum est" :( Latin. I suspected right away about r907, because of the simptoms; as you say, the other revs didn't seem to be the problem.

On a second look i noticed the value; was going to try when i saw your post.

Have gone further. Inject ATI. If laden with the stick, then watch to inject netkas — ATY,Framebuffer, if the EFI-section - vervet.

Who is author this buggs?

Azimutz & meklort, thank you for your fast intervention :)

@meklort: As you wanted to report back at what rev Chameleon started the constant reboot loop, I can say that personally tested (downloaded from the trunk and compiled) revs. 909 & 911 -- they both have the reboot loop.

Janek202 reported he encountered the constant reboot also with rev. 905.

More important is that we reported the problem and you resolved it :):)
