can anyone tell me or link me an explanation as to how i install this on a vanilla snow leopard that is running in safe boot mode
Instructions moved to first post.
Is there a way to change the framebuffer of my ati 5770 with a bootflag?
short answer: No!

longer answer: you can still post your card id's and the framebuffer you'd need for it.

Ok,

Source code is now available to whom complaining about ;)

Updated to 5.0.6 on first post. And sorry for the delay :(

Hi Valv,

I tried the latest version and here is the screenshot from MSR Tools. TM1 and TM2 seems to be turned on except CPU 1 > TM1.

Boot process seems to take more time but I'll test it further and let you know. If there is anything else you want me to test please tell me.

Thanks for the hard work.

Edit: The screenshot is not after a cool boot so the temperature values are quite normal I guess.

@JBraddock, same results here.

@MaLd0n, It's my pleasure to know you like it.

@-CEOS-,

that's because the boot-loader doesn't find the Themes directory.

try this one (compiled with embedded theme):boot_embedtheme.zip

hello, very nice that it is going on :)

i got CPU: Attempting to enable IDA Failed!

with 5.0.6 i get.

IOCPUID=0xffffff8009838200

with C2RC5r656:

IOCPUID=0xffffff800983e300 here i get C and P-State working. OC only C-State with my e7600

i use smcK-Stat-i

5.0.6.txt

com.apple.Boot.plist.zip

Glad this is moving again.

Latest ver. gives as attached for me with i5 430M. Attempted plist values of min volt, 780 max volt 1000, but there is no effective change and in BDMesg the indicated maxvolt value is never varied at 700mv.

MSR tools shows CPU volts always locked at the actual value shown of 972mV (has been like this with every iteration and every other bootloader).

bdmesg.txt.zip

Hope this is helpful.

Attempted plist values of min volt, 780 max volt 1000, but there is no effective change and in BDMesg the indicated maxvolt value is never varied at 700mv.

That is because you cannot raise max/minvolt to less/more than 250 mv from its intial value:

700+250=950 is the max you can get.

Tell me if I should give more flexibility

i got CPU: Attempting to enable IDA Failed!
That's because E7600 does not support IDA.

Hi Valv,

Thanks for your hard work.

Here my test, MSR Tools screenshot and BDMESG file.

I've been talking to a few guys like MaLd0n and d00d, trying to figure out why AppleIntelCPUPM won't load properly on EVGA X58 boards without a type 13 general protection fault panic at boot. If I try this new AnVAL, which options might I try to get it working?

I've mainly tried C2RC5 with every combo of dropssdt, generatep/cstates, ssdt tables in/separate from dsdt that I can think of, and AppleHPET/LPC/RTC are all loading. Again, this is sort of a known issue on all EVGA X58 boards unless you have one that can use a particular older bios version, which I don't.

to be honest I do have same failure (sometimes) but with type 14. I don't why but it could be related to voodoohda. Do you use voodoohda ?

I do. If I recall, I still got the type 13 panic without it, but I guess I could try it again. I have to use voodoohda though if I want built in sound since I have ALC892.

in the mean time, and as I was playing with reggie for brightness, I got a nice kp showing up type 13: general memory protection. I still have reasons to think it is voodoohda related though. One thing, did you rebuilt caches we you got rid of it ?

Well, I'll try it later, and I'll make sure to rebuild the caches when I do, but I know that every other user of an EVGA X58 board that isn't using the particular older bios version or can't use it, is getting a panic in this situation, and I know that many of them are not using voodoohda, which makes me wonder if it would be the problem in our case. I'll still try it though.

At least they still have choice to update bios... not me :unsure:

Which board do you have?

I tried without voodoohda and rebuilt cache, but still no love from CPUPM. From the little reading I did about type 13 panics, I remember there being something about the cpu trying to go into a state that it can't go into or something. I'm probably better off selling this and getting a UD3R or something though.

@pug999,

:blush: this is done automatically.

Thank you. Though, I still think that AnVAL is the product of all the friends that did care. so again, they are the ones to thank: especially those who helped with suggestions, thoughts, tests, donations ...

You are so nice!!!

In my notebook T9300...if I set mobel"Macbookair 1.1" ..Cpu was lock on 2.5ghz.... But in magic...IDA always enable.

up to 106%(2.6x ghz), and CPU can into C4 powersave mode..battery time up to 4:30~5:00

If i set model"macbookpro5.1" or macpro3.1 ....etc , NO IDA... Cpu work on 800ghz to 2.5ghz...and no C4 power mode,battery time only 3:50

If i set GeneratePStates=yes, CPU work on 600mhz to 2.5ghz, and no C4 power mode,battery time only 3:30

My cpu T9300 in win7 , work frequency is 200 x12.5=2500, IDA(13.5=2700) be ok,Into C4 mode ,battery time 4:40

Why????

I have to set FSB=183~186 (183x13.5=2500) ,if over 186....I got sound lag and noise.....

Thank you,,,this boot working fine
