retroz
Does Firefox seem slow? It does to me. On the win machine it flies. Also, how do we know we are using the full bandwidth of our ethernet? I know you can go do dslreports and do a speed test, but sometimes it just seems that on OSX is seems slower!? Which browser seems the fastest here? peace Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20771-which-browser-to-use-with-x86-machine/ Share on other sites

retroz
I'm talking about my system (see sig),,,, Speed test shows great speed downloading, but the pages from one to another take a while to load, sometimes. boo50
if you wish to speed up your Firefox or Netscape browser (never mind - Win or Mac version) try this fix in the address bar type: about:config 1. Find network.http.pipelining and double click on it so it = true 2. Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and change it from 4 to 100 This makes FF use 8 threads to each page.. belgrano
If you're not pleased with Firefox speed, why don't you dump it and use Safari or Camino instead? adurbe
Ive found Opera to be both most stable and fastest for me safari crashs far to often on intel and firefox 'feels sluggish' another thing is you can skin opera nice and easily, mine looks almost exactly identical to safari Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20771-which-browser-to-use-with-x86-machine/#findComment-137556 Share on other sites
cyrana
I use safari just sometimes. It has less support on websites for one. On top of it I can't use adblock or have it remember all my tabs and reload them when I restart it. Firefox does feel a little slower, though. The pipelining thing above helps, and this mod I'm putting below used to, but not sure if it's now default or not (go to about:config): Right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. retroz
Hey all thanks!!! :-) But I was talking about FF on hack n tosh...real sluggish compared to Safari and even though I get good bandwidth tests, all the browsers seem sluggish, .500 to 1000 milliseconds and sometimes more to load a link...new page etc. It just sort of hangs there...
