    The Ultimate Web Browser

I haven't seen much out of Safari for the past couple of years. Chrome is my daily driver on both my Macs, mostly because it is noticeably faster.
  2. Has anyone been able to implement native power management/speedstep on their EP45-UP3P? My setup, which has been pretty solid for the past year uses a dsdt.aml file I picked up from machinest but I might start working on a new one if someone has gotten it to work.

The first Mac you ever used.

Umax C500 I bought from Fry's in Santa Clara. http://www.everymac.com/systems/umax/c500/...c_c500_180.html
  4. Yes, mine is crazy loud. Glad you posted. Must be normal
  5. Hi, I tried several different pin assignments in the dsdt but could not find one that enabled Mic jacks front or rear. In fact various pin assignments really didn't seem to impact the available/usable jacks one way or the other. I just listed 0x00 because that was the last option I tried.

    problems with Silverlight..

Yes, Processor Name is probably pulled from CPUID and so will probably only show up when there is a processor that has actually been used in a real Mac...eg. you'll never see any of the core2quads show up. The About this Mac dialog is just superficial and is never used to check cpu type by package installers. There is a long and detailed post about this somewhere on this board.

    EP45-UD3P Retail Method

Zerix if you are using an Nvidia card with 2 dvi outs you don't need and shouldn't have an EFI string in your com.apple.boot.plist. So try removing that and see what happens.
  8. Resolved. I found a better, more complete DSDT.aml for this board. I also flashed the firmware so it is recognized as an Apple Airport Extreme.

    EP45-UD3P Retail Method

@Unixman - Thank you for the guide. Very good information. @Stella - Thanks for the work on the DSDT.aml. I snatched it out of your package and used it on my own installation and it fixed a kernel panic I was having with my Linksys WRT54GS wireless pci card. @DrKrazy - As for CPU temps. I noticed a +10C when using AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext on my Q6600 at stock 2.4gHz. So basically between 45 - 50 degrees Celsius when Idle. Thats within spec, but not good long term. I don't think there is any way around that with DSDT or HPET, but I'll do some more research. Meanwhile, I'm using the NullCPU and SleepEnabler kexts and the idle core temps are back to a normal 34/36C. I'm using Chameleon 2 r640 with netkas PC-EFI 10.1 My Extra/Extensions looks like this: ALC889a - (Contains just the plist for pinouts, uses native AppleHDA) (I needed this for Mic inputs, but otherwise it's not needed) IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector - (To get normal drive icons) NullCPUPowerManagement - (To block AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) OpenHaltRestart - (To enable shutdown/restart) PlatformUUID - (Not sure this is needed after installation - anyone?) SleepEnabler - (Required if you are using NullCPUPowerManagement) fakesmc.kext - (A spoof for the SMC monitor on real macs) Thanks again

    problems with Silverlight..

the question wasn't how to install silverlight, the question was why does it fail. thanks for cluttering up yet another useless post for future readers.

    problems with Silverlight..

"......and none of the injectors are able to supply that value into the smbios" So can't be done yet in other words.
  12. Gigabyte EP45-UD3P ver 1.1. At first, my WMP54GS (ver 1.1) wouldn't be recognized at all. Then I moved it to the bottom slot and it was recognized and everything works. I use the onboard Ethernet primarily, so I keep it turned off in preferences. The bottom line is, that even with the card turned off in preferences, as long as it's in the system it causes a kernel panic on my box after about 10 min. Usually when I'm doing something network intensive. The KP only shows the CPU number and the current process that I'm running in the back trace. For example, I can crash the system easily by just firing up eve online for about 5 minutes and the KP will show "cider" as the offending process. If I remove the card, the system is rock solid. So a couple questions. The DSDT I'm using was created without the card in the system. Should this matter? If I need to recreate the dsdt.aml, now that I'm on SL, how would I recreate a virgin DSDT dump since I'm having to use DSDT overrides (eg. dsdt.aml) just to boot the system? My system won't boot without a dsdt.aml in place. Needless to say, the card was working fine in 10.5.7.

    problems with Silverlight..

Yes, I tracked this down a long time ago. Basically the installer is looking for "Processor Name" and none of the injectors are able to supply that value into the smbios.
  14. machinist - yes I had the sound working kextless with a couple of different layouts including 66 but none of them had working mic inputs which I need. This solution is virtually kextless since it only provides the info.plist with the proper layouts.
  15. @zhell I have the SH-223 drive you have (SATA). 10.6 didn't fix this, at least not with my DSDT. The old solution of leaving a disk in the drive works though. We also noticed that changing to a Pioneer drive fixed the issue. Glad you are confirming that the Sony Optiarchs work also.
