domino
I have Beta 2 installed on vmware and I think I need a bit longer than 2 weeks to play with it and get comfortable before I install it native. I want to activate it under vmware and reactivate it again in a native install. Is that possible? free30
Not tested just lifted it from else where. free30 ""apparently typing the following into a text editor and saving as a BAT file will reset the 14-day trial... haven't tried it yet (I'm personally waiting for official MS public release) rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows cls @echo Windows Activation Grace Period has been reset to 14 days ! @echo Reset will take effect on reboot .... @pause You only really need the first part without the "@echo" bits, that's just for notification. If anyone tries this, can they confirm whether it works or not? Cheers! domino
Thanks, I still have 10 days before it starts nagging. I'll give this a shot when the time comes. I thought I read somewhere that it's possible to activate it 5x. I just can't find the article. free30
Again just lifted from elsewhere, I haven't had much success with Vista, I need another 512mb ddr400, Vista likes memory a lot but any way : Free30 ""Posted by Ratio: 2.25CaptCaveman 3 weeks ago Phone Activation worked for me as well.. It does take a few balls though.. It should'nt however.. this is the public beta 2. If they refuse to activate it then they could get sued over the whole public thing... I spoke to a very nice girl in India.. Just install Vista using one of the keys and then disable your network so your computer cannot access the internet then choose other means to activate and call the toll free number..""end Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20056-possible-to-activate-vista-beta-2-more-than-once/#findComment-132120 Share on other sites
Colonel
You could always just get another serial from Microsoft. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20056-possible-to-activate-vista-beta-2-more-than-once/#findComment-132121 Share on other sites
domino
Really? I have tones of un-atictivate serials for XP. No, not [k]d.. real serials from customers that didn't want Windows on their machines. It would be great if you can back up that claim colonel. You could always just get another serial from Microsoft. bahh, 5 in the morning and wasn't thinking. you mean sign up for another vista key.. Kinda hard to activate it using the same phone number or even same hardware footprint. domino
Great to hear Sam. Just have to tweak vmware/vista and test before I go native. Baliw
Great to hear Sam. Just have to tweak vmware/vista and test before I go native. The Key that MS gave you , can be use up to 10 system. Hence you can activate it 10 times. xequence
I have Beta 2 installed on vmware I thought vista didnt run at all in vmware, as it only emulates a 16MB video card. Is it different in the new beta? Good graphics is not a requirement for installing Vista. You can install it fine in VMWare, you just won't get Aero glass. domino
Sure it works. I'm not saying the eyecandy does, but that's not what I was after when installing in vmware. vmware supported vista since 5.5 was released. sam_the_killer
If Vista runs on VMWare, then i definitely think that Microsoft is just sure to reach a wider audience(in this case the people having less power in their computers!!! isnt!!!) But the Hard Disk space required to install Windows VISTA is pissing me off..(around 6.9Gig), and no options during the setup to tweak the installation, its a no go untill and unless u have a HDD around 80 Gig at the minimum for a single OS to run properly (no dual boot and if u have a huge collection of songs, its better to get a new one of larger capacity).. domino
Yea, it surprised the hell out of me when it wouldn't install in a 8gig virtual disk I created. It needs at least 15gigs for it to install. In the end of the install it removes the install files from the disk and gives you back around 8gig. I'm sure there will be a way around dual boot during the transition. dponmac
When Microsoft sends you the cd-key, it says that you can install it on up to 10 machines with that liscence. so i don't see why it wouldn't activate more that one. And considering its a beta I really don't understand why they make you activate in the first place. I can imagine the calls coming into the help desk "and is this the first time youve activated this product?" "No, I installed it yesterday, activated it, and then it crashed, so I reinstalled it..."
