MacWannaBe
AkronElliott:Thanks for the 32bit reply. Is it possible to also fix the apple boot resolution (the white screen with apple logo and spinning circle) to 2560x1600? If yes, where can i add the fix to this? Thanks. You can find the solution here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...440&st=720# It involves changing 4 lines in your boot.plist -Ed Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187440-lifehacker-guide-with-ga-ep45-ud3p-motherboard/page/36/#findComment-1365457 Share on other sites
MacTech84
I have gotten the flash drive prepped and when I tried to install I can boot into the flash drive. However, after the progress indicator flashed for a minute or so it tells me to power down and restart. I can't get beyond that Thanks in advance for any help. -Johnny Are you able to get OS X installed at all? or is it not booting from the flash drive? Hm, I can't seem to use: <key>Default Partition</key> <string>hd(x,y)</string> to change my default boot drive (want it to be Windows) anymore. Anyone know what's wrong? What version of Chameleon does stella's V3 installer use? Edit: nvm I'm a moron. I put in the wrong numbers 3 times because I kept clicking the wrong disc to find the disk/partition number xD Works fine now Stella's V3 installer uses Chameleon 2.0 RC2, I have tried updating to RC3 and RC4 but for some reason it just does not work. With RC4, I was able to boot, but once OS X started to come up, my monitors went blank. Would love to see an installer for RC4 just in case I am missing something, or possibly see if Stella can update the installer. P.S. I might be down a few days, its finals the next 2 days, ugh! Rasstar
Can someone tell me how I can get the Jmicron sata ports working in IDE mode with the GA-EP45-UD3P v1.6 motherboard? I have a Sata DVD drive and Windows would not boot if AHCI is enabled and I cannot install windows if AHCI is enabled. There should be a way to get the sata ports working in IDE mode once Snow Leopard is installed. Any help would be appreciated. I think it's your ATI card as well =/ Total longshot, but, try downloading this, extracting it, taking the "boot" file and replacing the "boot" file in stella's installer with it. Anyway, I have a problem too. Has anyone successfully been able to dual boot Windows 7 off a different drive? How did you fix its issues with AHCI? If I put it on AHCI, Windows 7 won't load. If I put it on IDE, OSX won't load  I had no trouble dual booting. Windows 7 would not load if I enable AHCI for my DVD drive but OSX loads with AHCI disabled. In OSX the DVD drive isn't seen if AHCI is disabled. You cannot boot OSX with AHCi disabled on the hard drive I think. I installed it to a USB hard drive so have no issues with AHCI. chewdog316
Sorry if I seem annoying. So my system is the lifehacker system and Im still not able to access firewire or built on ethernet. I also did the 10.6.2 upgrade. I have also installed ilife 09 which messed up my non hack mac pro. So.... Is there a kext i should have installed? Did I need to re-enable the ethernet in the Bios? Should I installed Chameleon even if im not dual booting? (Im using parallels) Have I missed an update somewhere? Any help would be great, PM or email if Im getting too bothersome. I apologize I did go through the majority of pages and I used the search but I cannot locate my specific problems anywhere else. Thanks and Merry Christmas! CoHPhasor
@Rasstar: Why are you not installing Win7 with AHCI on? It absolutely has support for it. WinXP, on the other hand, does not. I wrote a quick snippet a while back on this thread where I gave instructions on how to dual-boot from the same drive. I had OSX running FIRST, made the Parts in Disk Utility, then installed Win7, so trust me, there's support. (I used Win7 Pro btw) Sorry if I seem annoying. corefile
It is not as likely, but I had a similar problem with the screensaver on install. No matter how I set it, it still came on at the default time interval. I tried extending the time, disabling it, etc to no avail. I googled around a bit and found someone mentioning the panel being buggy and to try deleting a certain plist file. It worked like a charm. Hit up the google machine and see if someone else has had that problem. It sounds like the system doesn't want to make/honor the setting file. ( Need I say,.. backup. backup. backup first? =-D ) I'm having the same problem with my screensaver, what plist did you delete? Rasstar
I have learned something new. Ahci works on the dvd drive if I use the intel chips but now I have to move my raid 0 array to jmicron. I have the riad array on j micron and the dvd drive is on the intel chipset which works in ide mode on snow leopard. So Ill just narrow it a bit and see what yall think whilst I run a search as well. Im gonna start with the firewire. So it is enabled in the Bios, but under the system profile is says no firewire is installed, however under the network system settings it does give the option for firewire although it does not work anyways. Hopefully that is not all over the place. Im trying to put my thoughts properly but as a noob to the hackintosh would searching and reading does take its toll. Anyways, thanks for the help. Hah, I knew this would happen but after some fiddling the firewire is working just fine. Now for the ethernet. It is enabled in the bios. I just dont know why it isnt working. Its not a hardware problem because it worked in my previous buildahackintosh.com build with leopard. Again, I am working with the updated lifehacker system. I did the bonjour update but it didnt help. Thanks for your help and attention, I really appreciate it. I just wanted to add that under network settings. Two ethernets are listed. The first (top) says "Ethernet Adapter (en1)" not connected. The second says "Ethernet" not connected. So thats it, thats the more information. Thanks again for your help and attention. AkronElliott
Now for the ethernet. It is enabled in the bios. I just dont know why it isnt working. The second says "Ethernet" not connected. From posts around #72, 89 -90, The mention of Bon Jour will not work with the on-board network adapter. Could this be part of the issue? Are you expecting Bon Jour to be functioning? I am using the NIC suggested in the build. My problem was placing it in the correct slot to find it. There are many posts about the onboard connection, just need time to wade through previous posts. I only got from page 1 to 6 for above. I know there are more when I started mine November 13th. I am not using firewire, but the system profile mentions the bus rate. Only using sata since I have so many of those ports. If you are using different parts there will be great chances that you will see results that vary from posts on the thread. There was a patch mentioned in an earlier post that is new. Not sure if that patch was intended for any parts suggested. I suspect that many of the regular posters are out on holiday. My onboard Lan and my onboard Firewire do not work. I noticed that typically the on board network does not work, however it did work with the buildahackintosh.com install guide which is not snowleopard. I like the lifehacker much better than the buildahackintosh.com setup so I want to stick with this. Any help would be appreciated even if its a link. I probably missed it when I was skimming. Thanks so much. Not sure if the parts are the same from suggested buildahackintosh.com install guide and lifehacker. The buildahackintosh website mentions many computer configurations. I would only guess at what you followed. As of now the computer is still set up just like the lifehacker computer with the 10.6.2 upgrade as well as the weaksauce/bonjour tweak. With still no lan or ethernet. This tweak is in regard to?? From the posts no one mentioned a tweak such as mentioned. More information would help. If you do not match the build spec's from post #1. You may have issues that we have not run across ourselves. I wanted to try to get away without using it. Its a tiny choice so I will prolly just buy a nic instead of all the hassle. It would just be nice to get everything working without it. I dont think bonjour caused any problems. Somone else told me to install the bonjour to fix my onboard lan problem unfortunately that didnt work. The build a hackintosh and the lifehacker are the same parts but diffrent install methods, one being leopard and the other snowlep so that may be why my onboard lan does not work. Since the parts were the same on both builds i went with the lifehacker install for snowleopard. Oh and by the way, I did get the firewire working although I am honestly not sure what I did. It wasnt working and then I turned the pooter on and boom it works. Hopefully its not one of those anomalies I have read about in previous posts. Thanks again Akron, I appreciate your help. So then I said "Awesome, lets connect my computers via firewire and transfer some stuff." As soon as I connected the firewire from one pc to the other, the system crapped out completely and now it will not start back up.
