On my D620 after all your guy's help, chameleon boots default to SL unless I touch a key. With that said, you have about 1-2 seconds to touch a key to choose to boot into win7. Is there any way to slow this down?

Yes. In your /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist, you need a key of 'Timeout' with a string value of however many seconds you want to delay.

Again my wireless doesnt work, why?

It depends on which card you have. The Intel cards are notorious for not working; people have better luck with the Dell Wireless (often Broadcom) cards. There's a number of posts in this thread about this issue.

Great forum, got everything running on my D620 from start to finish in about 45min.

I have a D620 with non Intel graphics and a Dell 1390 wireless card.

Out of the initial install everything worked. I ran the 10.6.4 update and now the wireless card does not work. I am also not sure if both cores are running or hardware acceleration (dont know how to check that) but youtube videos seem a little choppy.

I know absolutely nothing about OSX, I read through the forum and saw how people had backed up their 10.6.2 stuff and reloaded it in .6.4 to get the wireless working.

Is there a quick fix for this, or should I just redo everything and leave it at 10.6.0?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks again!

I have the Dell Broadcom DW1390 most everyone uses, but this time the mac screen wont even go past the mac sign and little spinning thing on the gray page.

Has anyone had any luck upgrading their D620 beyond 10.6.1?

10.6.1 was working fine so I upgraded to 10.6.4 and then my Airport card stopped working ("no airport card installed").

What is safest 10.6.X update to apply to a D620?

Thanks!

First off ... thanks for the great guide. It's much appreciated.

I have a D620 and I'm following the steps for 10.6 Snow Leopard

I've gotten to step 3 ---

3. To run OS X for the first time, Reinsert D620SLV1 boot CD and Reboot. Select your new installation partition from the Chameleon menu and boot.

but when OS X boots, I get the following message "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again."

Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong in my process but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please enter -v at the Chameleon boot prompt after you have selected your OSX Installation.

This gives you more information.

Is it possible to give us a screenshot?

Not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be looking for but it gets to "System uptime in nanoseconds: 49426007091" and just sits there.

Hi there!

i have the same Problem!

"System uptime in nanosecs: ..."

Above is a panic:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x4fb232): "A kext releasing a(n) OSArray has corrupted the registry. "@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.3.12/libkern/c++/OSbject.cpp:244

Not sure if this is the problem?

Using an D430 (and tried with an D420 -> same Prob) and the OS Bootload with an Retail 10.6.3 (bought today ... :()

Disabled MultiCore + SpeedStep and other things like Parallel / Serial Port.

Tried with the Docking Station DVD Drive + External USB DVD Drive + USB Stick.

No Chance :( Everytime the same Error!

Would be really nice if someone could help me!

Edit: The Installation of iAtkos v7 worked, but without KeyBoard + Trackpad + Ethernet+ ... support?!

Thanks!

You may try to disable the OpenHaltRestart kext.

pc00ds3062:Extra leroi$ sudo -s
Password:
bash-3.2# cd /Extra/
bash-3.2# mkdir SAVE
bash-3.2# mv Extensions/OpenHaltRestart.kext SAVE
bash-3.2# ./rebuild_mkext.command

Select 1 for 32 bit Mode.

Did you select the VoodooPS2 Drivers and Ethernet Driver in iAtkos 7?

Thanks for your Post!

But, where do I have to change this? @ OpenHaltRestart.kext?

@ iAtkos v7: Not shure if the PS2 was checked, this could be the answer :censored2:

Edit: Maybe it's usefull to say that this Error pops up BEFORE the installation! So not while booting from HD!

Please use the Terminal application from Applications/Utilities.

If you can' t boot your system from harddisk with leppys boot CD, you'll have to boot the installation DVD again.

Then select the Terminal Application in the Utilities menu.

For this case you'll have to use cd /Volumes/YOUR_VOLUME_NAME/Extra instead of cd /Extra.

So, this is the Problem!

I even cant boot to the Installation for using the Terminal App?

---

If you get this before installation, you may try to boot with -x -f option.

Maybe there is a problem with the 10.6.3 Retail version. The boot CD was made for version 10.6.0.

You may try other boot-132 CDs or you'll have more luck using the iAtkos S3.

Tried allready! Same :(
