highlift
Ok, I installed Jas version, got the b0 error, set my partition as active, reboot, OSX started to load. I get the grey screen with teh MAC emblem and then ticking status bar, after about 3 minutes, i get this symbol above the MAC sign. it doesnt go any further. What should I do? Installing this on a Dell D600, 40gb HDD, 512mb RAM, ATI Radeon 32mb, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16202-getting-a-circle-with-a-slash-in-it-when-booting-see-pic/ Share on other sites
aquanutz
In all my days with OS X (since it's conception) I've never seen that. I suggest reinstalling but NOT formatting the drive. In options, just do a back up and install. Go figure...anyhow, I'm running an AMD64 and I figure my problem might lie in there somewhere. indy138
I had the same problem when I tried to install it natively on my AMD64 laptop. Then I tried to install it using the VMWare method, and it works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16202-getting-a-circle-with-a-slash-in-it-when-booting-see-pic/#findComment-105288 Share on other sites

CheetinCheetah
For the purpose of people searching on this "circle with a slash" logo problem, I'm going to add: That error logo pertaining to "waiting for root device" that you've just seen is called a Prohibitory Sign, as stated under Apple's Knowledge Base (Small FYI, don't bash me on it. Hopefully Google will index this or something) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16202-getting-a-circle-with-a-slash-in-it-when-booting-see-pic/#findComment-220258 Share on other sites

trav1085
I'm using 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso, have applied no patches, is this wrong? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he said he didn't apply any of the patches during the install. I'm sure that will be a problem. You have to select the right patches, select the Intel ones if you, well, have an Intel CPU, and AMD, if you have a, well, AMD CPU. And then ONLY the SSE2 patch or SSE3 (not BOTH if you have both) selected.
