The first device-property is for the GeForce 8600 GTS/256MB, the 2nd one is for the GeForce 8400GS/256MB. I have to highlight, that this model does not work as hoped. The 2nd device-property is senseless :/

PS. The P35-Tools are NOT done by me! :-) They are done by PCWiz.

Oh dear... you are using NVidia's card all the while and I'm trying to get my ATI x1650 work with the NVKush

Very hard to get a working x1650 as I've search on the web.

So does that mean if I beg someone to give me the EFI string and copy to my plist, I can get my x1650 working?

Hey Zev23,

hm sorry, I can't help you with this. Seems like this card is not supported by OSx86 Tools

nVidia cards are highly recommended by "alternative" (to Windows) systems, but this won't help you. Also I'm not sure if NVkush (NV = nVidia?) does work for ATI cards. But there are some drivers out there, I'm sure. The very best would be to get this string, that's true :P

No sweat!

I finally get the x1650 and boot form harddisk working :D

For x1650:

1. Get & install the 71c7 driver according to your Leopard version here

2. MUST use a DVI-VGA connector and a VGA cable to your monitor. If your monitor only has DVI, too bad.

For boot from harddisk (this is not dual boot and I use one whole harddisk for OSX):

1. Open terminal

2. Enter fdisk -e /dev/disk0

3. Enter f 1 (note: This is to active the partition 1, which is the OSX boot partition in my case)

4. Enter Write

5. yes to write

6. exit

7. Reboot

8. (If you are using GA-P35-DS3 like me) Press F12 during startup to enter Boot Menu

9. Choose the OSX harddisk you want to boot.

Well now I got all those major parts running already. Got some glitch here and there like mouse & keybpard response, About Mac does not reflect the CPU and motherboard info.

cheers :D

Captain Nemo,

What is your take on the dsdt. Do you use it? Is there really a need for it? If you do use it has it made life easier? In my last install i notice that it made things slower but with apple supposedly doing something where it would be need do i really need to make on or are we ok because we use a vanilla retail install.

Also i notice that smbios enabler is installed not resolver have you found this to be better? i know you did not make this boot 132 but wounder if you worked with that.

Edit

I somewhat figure out how to use smbios enabler on my laptop i have iatkos intstalled with resolver becuse i can configure it better.

Thanks in advance

Tessa

Hi everyone

just wanted to report that chameloen 2 rc1 worked just fine. all i was use the easy installer. The only thing is that my memory wrong information is now wrong.

Then i installed again but this time i deleted the files and it installed the 3 extra kexts that comes with it and that was it but my memory was read right so i am thinking i really don't need the smbios kexts or the smbios enabler kext but i am not sure.

Edit

figured out what i did wrong. Please do not mind me i always like to report my findings so that i may help others who have been in my boat.

I install chameleon 2 with the installer and all is working fine even my system profiler information. All i did was install over top of my original and added kext that is apart of the installer. You can add files like usual just make sure you redo your mkext that is located in the / extra folder. Also I no longer need the resolver or enabler kext because i now use the smbios. plist that is place inside the / extra folder and that is it. For other changes i used eddie11c installer system profile fix found in the XxX 10.5.6 disc.

Hopes this helps others

  • 2 weeks later...

Seeing that this is by far the easiest guide I've ever seen for a hackintosh and I have all the hardware except for the motherboard my question is where I could buy this particular mobo?, I've been looking for it ever since I first read the guide, and any help would be really appreciated.

Hopefully I'm not breaching the rules of the 'Bar by asking a "Where Can I Find" question.

You could try google it to see who still sells or try ebay or amazon i saw some there. I have used this guide to install on all my gigabyte boards and at the beginning of this guide that he says he has used it on an Asus board. What board do you have?

I can tell you that even though i upgraded to a new board i still use this guide for it's easiness and just used a different boot132 disc(if needed) from the forum. You can try the p45 boards as they are not that far from the p35 boards by gigabyte. :D-_-

Hope this helps

Yeah I saw a couple but the prices were just outrageous, but in the end I just ordered a p45 board from Gigabyte

and I saw a similar guide where it was just as easy to install as this one. Thanks for your help -_-

Dude, that tutorial looks awesome, read it through and easy to follow. But I have a concern, here you said: What you need:

- A PC which uses the mainboard "Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3". This tutorial is for DS3 and not for DS3L, DS3R or DS4.

But I have a P35-DS3R, that means it won't work?? It's revision 1.0.

and it should work with Leopard 10.5.4 retail, correct?

These boards are really not that far from each other. I can tell you for sure that it worked on my ds3l and it also works on the p45 boards. The only trouble i ran into was when i used it on my ep35c ds3r board but it still worked just had to do some mods. So it should work because your board is not that far from each other. What you can do is go to the gigabyte site and do a comparison of the boards but your install should work fine.

this is weird, I got an error just at STEP 4!!!

After this: When everything is loaded into your PCs memory, it's time to remove the P35 CD and insert your original Apple Leopard Retail DVD into your drive. You should see the word "BOOT", when the DVD is recognized by the drive, press Enter (Return).

I got: EBIOS read error: Error 0X01

Block 16432736 Sectors 64

several ones and then at the end: Errors encountered while starting up computer.

and then I got into the screen with the apple logo and with a "stop" sign (crossed circle) on top. It has been loading for over 6 minutes and no change.

Help!

UPDATE: I tried it with -v, then at the end i got MAC Framework successfully initialized. then down the list I've got Waiting for boot volume with UUID XXXXXXX, then Still waiting for root device, repeatedly.

At this point, I heard the hdd turn off and the dvd is not responding, I tried ejecting the dvd but it's not responding.

Any input guys??

UPDATE1: I managed to get it to work up until the install, but for some reason during install it said something about there was an error with the iTunes package, therefore install cannot continue, failed, and only option I have is to restart computer.

To be exact: "Installer couldnt validate the contents of the iTunes package. Contact software manufacturer for assistance"

What's all this about?

Also, I have a ps/2 keyboard, is there a fix I could use before install, like in the p35.iso boot, or should I apply a fix after installing osx??

Congrats on getting it to boot!

It sounds to me like your media is corrupt though. Try burning it again at 1x speed or on a different drive (also with 1x speed). Good luck

that's how i got it to boot, i burned it again using the slowest speed possible (2.4x) on my laptop.

so the iso itself is corrupt? could it be from converting the dmg to iso or the dmg itself is corrupt??

thanks for the reply ;)

Did you get your problem resolved. I used another boot disc from off the forum that had ps/2 in it. my keyboard is usb so i am not sure if it works but give it a try. :(

Greetings,

I would really appreciate your help.

I know you havent tested your tutorial with any other boards, but im willing 2 give it a try on my GA-EP35C-DS3R since other tutorials earlier worked fine for me.

I wanted to ask, i cannot find tutorial for my mobo but I can find plenty of those similar to mine.

Some of them ask to PATCH BIOS for some reason, do I really need to patch it or not (since your tutorial doesnt say anything about it)?

I have Q6600 CPU not planning to upgrade for now, so was wondering if it is really necessary? Or I can just update the bios ?

IS there anything else I should know?

Installing on this board gave me trouble but i just had to find ways around my issue. As far as doing anything to my bios all i would do is update bios but never patching because to me that to risky. I have used this tutorial for all my gigabyte boards and it works just fine. I will say that the ep35c gave some issue in which using a different boot 132 did the trick. :)

Thanks man, now one more question, for the restart fix what did you use?

When I used Kalyway the psystar kext for fix never worked for me.

Hey guys!

My OSX install is working very well. Since I installed it using this method, I had no problems at all.

Now I'm planning to dual boot OSX with Windows. I used to have Windows and OSX together when my OSX was iAtkos, but I don't know what steps I have to follow now so I won't mess with my perfectly working OSX install.

Can anyone point me to a guide (or a couple of hints) on how to dual boot with Windows without touching my OSX installation (that is using this Boot-132 method)?

Thanks!

okay so my system has been stable for over 4mo now. Im at 10.5.6 and yesterday when I started my machine the boot sequence got stuck at the apple logo. I tried starting in -v and -x and neither worked. What would be my next trouble shooting step?

edit: and when i say it doesn't work, i mean that it still gets stuck at the apple logo. I don't even see the usual lines of code at start-up when using -v
