won't work since the GMA drivers dont work since 10.4.5

This implies that it is an EFI versus BIOS problem, which is why the ATI x1600 driver does not work either.

Hmm, yet another reason why I think we should be working on EFI: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=13493

The driver loads correctly in 10.4.6 here, but only at the resolution of 1024x768@60Hertz though core image and Quartz Extreme are supported. Changing the resolution in the apple boot file won't work it gives me input not supported, though I know that the input is supported here. I think I replace the 10.4.3 driver, what is the actual kext of GMA950 the Intel 915?.

I just updated my system to 10.4.6 using Myzars patch. Then copied the frameworks back, then deleted the AppleIntel915*.kext files. Copied the AppleIntelGMA950* files from the disabled folders.

The AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext is the one from the old system, but seems that the Graphics Acceleration / OGL / CI / QE seem to be from 10.4.6.

With this I get full Resolution support.

Everything seems to work so far, my Xbench scores went from 116.x to 119.x

The only problem I see which is getting anoying is that it takes too long to boot now. I mean compared to the 10.4.5 system, which took like 18 seconds to boot, now this takes like 1 minute or more to boot. Also loginwindow asks for my password.

I dont know what it is waiting for as nothing really significant when I load with -v option. It gives me an error regarding the HPET thing, but it moves on from there. I'll try removing the HPET kext and see what happens.

I installed the drivers when the patch first came out (without the framebuffer hellness) and it worked but I lost QE, so I reverted. You guys didn't do anything special to get QE working??? I didn't delete the old i915 drivers, could that be why? I may try again after writing this paper...

This did the trick for me, im booting just fine now, with full resolution, just like in 10.4.5... althougth i didn't delete that AppleIntel915*.kext files.

As for slow boot and such, sounds like your always booting into -x mode, because when you boot with -x it goes slower, and gives you a login prompt... perhaps edit your com.apple.Boot.plist file and take out any kernel flags that are in there.

Cheers.

How did you install? Myzar, Pacifist or something else?

You used Myzar? Do you have CI and QE?

If you want/don't mind checking it tells you in "System Profiler" (goto "About this Mac" then "More Info") under the "Graphics/Displays" section. It will say "Core Image: Supported" and "Quartz Extreme: Supported".

Sure, i'll do this as soon as i can boot osx again, lol, i broke it once again, messing around with other pci/usb kext folders. Im redownloading the install dvd right now so i can boot up, get a terminal and fix the problem. I knew i shouldn't have deleted that damm iso allready... got a little too confident i guess.

I know it's probably too little to late, but if you just need a terminal to mess with files (edit, copy, delete), then something like Knoppix should be fine (and a lot smaller/easier to download). In any case, it's good to keep those files backed up ;)

Myzar's patch is confirmed to work with the 10.4.4/10.4.5 install. My mobo is the D945GNTLKR, which does have the integrated GMA 950.

Full CI/QE and OpenGL support. I verified this with Dashboard widgets, DVD playback, and Nanosaur 2. All work just fine.

The only downside, as another member here posted, is boot times seem to be a little longer than before, but this is a minor inconvenience. Otherwise, system is working great at 10.4.6. I'll continue testing and post back here with any bugs I find, if any.

Hi Guys...

Quick questions regarding this update and GMA950...

I used the MacOsx_10.4.6._Cra... by Myzar. Installed fine. Moved over from the Extentions.disabled folder the AppleIntel* files ot my extention forlder. Deleted the 915 files and the kext.cache

Did the usaual Sudo-chmod-chown to fix permissions. On reboot my screen goes nuts (sorta like a cracked blue lcd screen).

I fixed it by deleting all the AppleIntel* files from the extention folder and the kext.cache but I'm back in VESA mode on reboot of course. From the description other users gave it seems straight forward enough. Did I miss a step somewhere???

Thanks...
