Ah, didn't work. Man this really sucks. I have an image that I burned before I installed the GMA4500 kext. If I restored the system to before I installed the kext, is there a kext I can save somewhere for the mouse, so that I could install the GMA kext, then restore the kext for the mouse after it finishes? I am new to mac, but I must say I really like them. I just don't understand why a video kext can have any effect on the mouse. Can someone please enlighten me? TIA. ;)

All you have to do is uninstall all of the Intel gmax4500 (3100) kexts, and install the patched chameleon for gmax4500. all credit goes to deviato (Mirror Download link) http://www.4shared.com/file/WXfLwcbG/Alecs...n_2_RC4pkg.html

Maybe it's your Video card bios or VGA out port I don't really know, but you could try removing the boot flag for the 1200X800 resolution

Heres a massive help to anyone wanting some of the features of Quartz on these 4500 graphic Cards while no one seems to have made any progress in a year.

Add something like parallels, vmware or crossover and run programs within it such as games, dvd players and VLC so far as I have been able to test on my Dell Inspiron 1540 running the kind of quartz enabled applications we use on macs in a windoze environment works very well indeed already settling in for a night of movies :)

HOWEVER this is just an elaborate work around and I hope someone comes up with a permanant solution to getting the cards working under mac os X :( all the best ~ Szandor

Probably it is just the same native resolution we all know. Someone could give a definitive word on this? I'm also desperately looking forward a fix for this lol

Yeah, I was thinking that. Let's all hope for this. Even if it's a little unrealistic.

yes well there is a small chance that apple installed gmax 4500 graphics into macbook air considering it is rumored to have an 11 Inch display which means it would be a mini.

and most mini laptops have the gmax 4500 graphics installed. lets just hope apple didnt decide to be huge {censored} and used some next generation gaming graphics in the new model.

The key is in hex patching AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext and AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext

Patching GMAX3100FB.kext works ok.

The problem is in patching GMAX3100.kext, because it produces a boot crash after the grey screen. Here is where DSDT patch enters.

In DSDT, apparently we've have to delete CRT entries (it seems CRT entrie confuses MacOSX, that tries to look for this kind of monitor) and also inject values from original GMAX3100 card through "Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)". I've only reached to pass from grey screen to blue screen, then it goes to a scrambled screen with really slow performance. I think this is the right path and it's only matter of keep trying different combinations of DSDT data injecting.

for the scrambled screen have you tried using a dual link fix in the dsdt? and also have you tried using the modified framebuffer for the x3100?? worth a shot... ill be messing around with my sisters laptop this week with the same graphics chipset so ill be sure to post any of my findings, great work and best of luck to everyone who has this card
