nemattoad
Works fine on my machine. Both my USB 2.0 memory stick and USB 1.1 card reader (sd + cf combined) work fine. My USB controller is the onboard Intel ICH6R southbridge on an Asus motherboard with teh Intel 915P chipset. suaveguyc
Haha, yeah, seeing as I boot MacOSX off an external usb drive, definately. And USB2 thumb drive! theweaselslayer
I've got a problem with any type of USB mass storage device myself. Thumb drives, external hard drives, and digital cameras all cause my system to crash. What's odd is my laptop's integrated card reader works perfectly with all types of memory cards, and USB devices such as my cell phone (using it as a modem) and my mouse work perfectly. lbraasch
no problems here w/ my two usb HDD's which are NTFS (i can read but not write), my IPOD (fat32), and my thumb drive (fat32). halo1982
I couldn't get my iPod to work on mine, but didn't ever have anything else to test it with (firewire didn't work either as I had an unsupported TI 1394 chipset). I never figured that one out...perhaps it's limited to non intel chipsets? You're running an nVidia, I had an ATi...perhaps it's that... lontano
There's something strange going on, as all my USB storage devices worked perfectly, and yesterday after a reboot they won't show up. I reinstalled and nothing. Maybe something BIOS related? wiebeest
My usb thumb-sticks work perfectly, so does my usb keyboard & mouse by the way. I do run os X through VMware and have added the usb controller there. 39thRonin
I've gotten several makes of USB sticks to work without problem (LexMark 2Gb and a couple of different SanDisk sticks). I have a Seagate 160Gb USB external drive that I've split into two HFS+ partitions that work really well as data drives, but I can't boot from them (even though USB booting is enabled in my BIOS). My Camera works (Nikon D70) as a USB drive, and I have both an HP Scanner and a HP Photosmart 8450 printer hooked up to USB - all working. cyris ng
I noticed that USB flash drives are slower on OS X for Intel than OS X for PowerPC. I'm guessing it has to do with my OS X being the first release Apple did and first working crack. cyrana
Macgirl is right... Having said that, I have no problems with USB2 or firewire on my system. Neither seems slow, either. macgirl
Now that you mention it, I will test my FireWire/USB2.0 case with XBench and see if transfer speeds differ from my PowerBook, althoug this case didn't reach the full potential of the HD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1293-does-anyone-have-working-usb-storage/#findComment-32677 Share on other sites
cyris ng
Remember it is not a release, is a Developer edition so expect no full of anything. Thanks for the correction. For a developer's edition/build it isnt that bad. I'm surprised though that the Developer's edition/build isnt time limited like the OS X Public Beta that was released around 5 years ago. Have you kind folks tried connecting a PC to a Mac via IP Firewire networking or Mac as target disk to a PC? Seems like the HP drivers were seriously updated... budswell
I have a Sandisk Cruzer mini. It shows up and is identified in the System profiler, but does not show up as a disk I can use. Nothing in /dev is screaming "mount me" either.
