Okay, so here is the update. I uploaded the AppleHDA File for ALC888 on the EVGA 750i SLI FTW mobo. I get Digital out(optical out), Headphones (Front port) , and line out (Green jack in the rear) along with microphone in's from the front and rear. all working great with hda patcher.

The digital out, has no slider for volume control, for me this is no issue due to the fact that i use a 5.1 surround sound system.

As for as video goes, still no go on a the 7950 gt ko ... Any ideas :S

Hi Matthew,

Glad you got your audio sorted...... :)

If NVEnabler or any other injector kext did not work together, modifying the following Info.plist files as described below (based on procedure explained by Krazubu on IM) :

Add your GFX card device ID to the NVDAResman.kext Info.plist:

Go to /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext > Show Contents > Contents > Info.plist....

Add your GFX card device ID to the NVDANV40Hal.kext

Go to /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV40Hal.kext > Show Contents > Contents > Info.plist....

Add your GFX card device ID to the Info.plist of NVEnabler, NVdarwin, NVKush, or NVinject etc....(these injecter kexts should all work in a similar manner....) and set the NVCAP string correctly

DVI-I / DVI-I - BAAAAAAAAwAMAAAAAAAABwAAAAA=

VGA / DVI-I - BAAAAAAAAQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA=

DVI-I / VGA - BAAAAAAAAwAEAAAAAAAABwAAAAA=

and set the IOProbeScore value to 0

Go to /System/Library/Extensions/"your chosen injector".kext > Show Contents > Contents > Info.plist....

Also, check for the appropriate data value against VRAM,totalsize for your graphics card VRAM

Data Value -------- VRAM (MB) ---------- String Value (Hexadecimal)

<00000002>-------------32------------------<0x02000000>

<00000004>-------------64------------------<0x04000000>

<00000008>------------128------------------<0x08000000>

<00000010>------------256------------------<0x10000000>

<00000014>------------320------------------<0x14000000>

<00000020>------------512------------------<0x20000000>

<00000028>------------640------------------<0x28000000>

<00000030>------------768------------------<0x30000000>

<00000038>------------896------------------<0x38000000>

<00000040>-----------1024 (1GB)----------<0x40000000>

<00000060>-----------1500 (1.5 GB)-------<0x60000000>

<00000080>-----------2000 (2 GB)---------<0x80000000>

using Property List Editor (available in XCode > Developer > Applications > Utilities) .......

Repair Extensions

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

sudo chmod -R go=u-w /System/Library/Extensions

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

Reboot

then, see here and here and here.......may be the only solution to your GFX card problem.....

Thanks for those instructions sir :) I am looking a bit more into it now. I am wondering though.. When you say, input my gfx card device id into the info.plist... Where in the text should i insert it? :S i am still researching how to do it... SO if i do find out before you reply, i will edit this :stretcher:

Thanks!

For example above, 0x040210de (10de is the Vendor ID for most nVidia cards and 0402 is the device ID for a 8600GT).....use OSx86Tools to find your graphics card device ID......

Thanks so very much!!! Will keep you updated !

Also here are the 2 kexts that give FULL audio for nforce boards with ALC888 ..... Works perfect. I was mistaken in my other post. I forgot to mention the modified AppleHDA works hand and hand with ALCinject to give front audio, and rear audio including optical out.

I will keep you updated on the 7950 deal. Thanks!

Hey, heres where I get hung up

Im using iDeneb 10.5.5 currently.(I also have tried iatkos v7 but during install end up with the kernal panic that pops up over my install)

Using cpus=1 i can get into the installer and install fine. Ive tried a few settings, but the only thing thats "worked" has been

(selected at install as per this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...ode=linearplus)

9.4.0 kernal

Jmicron

MCP67

ACPI FIX

When I do that, I can boot into OS X, but only in safe mode. I get only one functioning monitor, and no interwebs. USB works, Firewire works (but im not sure how well..it at least recognizes one of my devices, a behringer fca202 audio interface)

I have the 9600 GSO card and use two monitors, but havent gotten so far as getting natit or titan or kush or anything on there working. Id like the get the OS booting normal and internet functioning first.

Im booting onto a bran new WD SATA 1 GB drive partitioned in two. 750 gigs of storage, and the rest is my mac install, both are MAC Journaled format.

Ive gotten JaS10.4.8 working perfectly before on my old HP, but i got the screaming new quad core, and I do a lot of video work, and get really tried of windows being a suckfest for that sort of work, and want to play around with FCP and CS 3/4 for Mac.

Let me know if anything has any ideas for iatkos v7 or iDeneb 10.5.5! Im sure its probably some stupid BIOS setting or something..i tried following the chart listed, but didnt see all of the options in my BIOS..

thanks!

If you can only boot into OS X using cpus=1 it is likely that you have a "bad" DSDT.aml being loaded by your BIOS......you need to generate a "patched" BIOS using fassl's DSDT Patcher and put it in /Extra generated by installing the Chameleon 2.0 V3 bootloader.......see post #1

The BIOS template in post #1 is a composite for many MOBOs with the same nForce chipset, so your BIOS may/will not have all of the parameters/options shown.....

When initially installing OS X do not select to install any video, network and audio options.......first focus on getting the basic OS X system running OK......these drivers can be installed later using Kext Helper b7.....

Recommend you use the Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel with 9.5.0 System.kext and 9.5.0 seatbelt.kext.....

How do I go about installing chameleon, and then adding the patch? Ive seen people who are used to terminal commands talk about it, but no clear "how tos" per se. Is it something I do from the safemode boot of OS X (10.5.5) or something else? I can install Chameleon vis my iatkos disc as it is an install option, but wouldnt know how to add Fassl's bit from there..

Hey,

As a user of nForce mobo's I have some basic expierence. Currently I am running OSX 10.5.7 (yea I know old but hey it works :( ) on the MCP67/nforce 560 mobo (in laptop), and have had NOT a single problem!! Since I will be getting a new tower and such:

TigerDirect Barebones 750i SLI ready system

with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVidia 9500GT SLI ready Graphics Card with 1Gb of Mem.

I will be installing OSX of course. And I will report my goods/bads and what I did to get it up and working as per instructions found in this thread, plus my own edits and settings (as it may work for some, but not for others depending on your type of mobo+proc).

If anyone has any heads up before I begin, please say so, as this can really help in my trials and tribulations during Install.

Well I will report back (more after XMas) when i get my sys up and running. (Yes it will be dual boot with Vista or Win7 haven't decided yet).

Thanx for your heads up for any help you may suggest during/before the time I get up and going.

1. Boot up OS X using cpus=1

2. Run Dr. Hurt's Chameleon 2.0 RC3 installer from here to install the Chameleon bootloader on your OS X hard drive.....

3. Get fassl's DSDT patcher from here (read the readme for instructions) to generate a patched dsdt.aml file that you should rename to DSDT.aml and then put the DSDT.aml file in the /Extra folder generated by the Chameleon 2.0 RC3 on the hard drive OS X volume....

So, update time:

Im running iPC (10.5.6) right now, and its working..mostly.

Internet is fine (found the driver)

Firewire is fine (my audio is a firewire interface..didnt even need a driver)

USB is fine

DVD drive works

Doesnt recognize my older IDE drive (though my DVD drive is IDE?)

Ive got both screens working on my 9600 GSO 768. I dont have QE and CI is software right now. Also, im getting a number of random lines across my screen wherever i open a window/drop down menu.

Doesnt recognize my mobo/cpu etc when i look at "hardware" under about this mac. Though it does say "Jeremy Clark's MS-7380" ..so it got the info somewhere!?

Only recognizes 1 core of my 4 (q6600) via cpu-x

Also, i turned off my screensaver (set it to "never" in the control panel), but it keeps coming up after a certain amount of time..

Other than that everything is shiny so far..ive tried a number of video drivers via UInstaller and OSx86tools, and currently am running the NVDarwin from the iPC disc, but they all give me the same results..

I know im close to having this running like a champ..grrr..

  • 2 weeks later...

I installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on my system a few days ago, and am trying to get QE/CI support for my eVGA 9800 GTX+.

My other specs:

XFX 750i SLI motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83 GHz (Q9550)

2x2gb DDR2

IDE DVD-RW

SATA HDD

What I've done:

- Installed iDeneb 10.5.5 with only

- - 9.4 XNU kernel

- - AppleNForceATA

- - JMicronATA

- - ACPI Fix

- - Firewire remove

- - X11

- Upgraded with iDeneb 10.5.8 combo upgrade (now using 9.5 Voodoo kernel)

- Manually inserted EFI string from EFIStudio in com.apple.Boot.plist

- Upgraded Chameleon to v2 RC2 (for DSDT support)

- Used DSDT Patcher GUI to generate a dsdt.aml (after this, I could use 2 cores instead of 1)

- Inserted PCIClassMatch into .kext's in the OP

What else do you think I should try? Thanks for the help.

Yes, I tried that too with 10.5.5 installed. I've also been trying to setup 10.5.2 with Leo Graphics updates + EFI strings, but haven't got it working yet. Kalyway 10.5.2 with the JMicron fix for IDE-DVD is crashing with ACPI panic errors before reaching the installer.

Heres where Im at

Ive got the OS up and running

GRAPHICS:

I have a 9600 GSO 768, and have tried a variety of graphics solutions. I can get both monitors and full resoultion, but no CI/QE going. Right now im on the 5700FX or something driver (ive tried all the 8800 and some 9XXX drivers all with the same result)

Im getting lines in various places on the screen, especially drop down menus. Im including a pic.

CPU:

Right now im only getting 1 core recognized. Im booting with CPUS=1, because my machine will keep restarting if I dont. Ive tried a few different fixes, but it always hoses my install. When i use the various DSDT patches, i see that when i -v boot ill see it recognize all my cores, but the boot will fail somewhere else down the line.

Audio:

No prob, using my firewire interface, works great

Firewire/USB:

No problems

Internet:

no problems (using the .pkg installer linked from this thread)

I would love any help with the Grpahics/CPU issues! I have the feeling i have to get my board recognized correctly before the graphics will work right, but I could be wrong..

BTW, im using iPC 10.5.6

Follow manual procedure here......your graphics hopefully will work.

For patched DSDT.aml file, did you run fassl's DSDT Patcher after booting with cpus=1......?

When i run Fassl's patcher, i notice it recognizes my 4 cores (at startup in verbose mode) but it always hoses my installation..something else fails buring boot. Ill try it again and post what comes up in -v at the fail point, because i forgot what it is off the top of my head..

Much thanks for the other link..ive been killing myself on the baords looking, but havent seen that thread!
