sgi02
I thought I would post this here in hopes that someone here was having the same issue. I have recently upgraded to OSX86 10.4.5 , but in the process my computer will no longer automatically login. Here is the strange part. When I login via VMWare the machine boots with automatic login just fine , but when I boot the machine in native mode I get prompted for my password to login. I have used the Keychain Access to check and verify the account and it comes up with no errors , permissions are fine and the rest of the install runs as perfectley as can possibly be , all except for automatic logon. Its so strange that it works fine when booting from VMWare , but does not when booting in native mode. If anyone has experienced this problem or has any insight on how to fix this it would be much appricated. Thanks in advance! calinb
Strange, but removing the ADDN card fixes the problem. Now if there were only a fix for the res selection! littlepr
Has anyone found a fix? Does this happed if you use the patche 10.4.5 DVD? No it does not. I used the patched DVD and did a clean install and everything works. Granted...I have an ASrock P4Dual-915GL board which has all compatible hardware. Others with non-compliant hardware might not be as lucky. skirb
I've got asus p5gd1-vm motherboard and intel p4 630, same problem too. I noticed too that fast user switching isn't working, I always have to enter password. This could be same bug, and he may be coused by passwords who arent saved. I've got no idea about which file contain theses passwords, may be it's easy to fix, just a permission pbm. numberonekiwi
have just done a rebbot and now logged on without a password prompt the only two things I have changed are as follows copied applei386pci.kext to System/Library/Extensions and copied IOPCIFamily.kext from backup/10.4.4/Extensions to /System/Library/Extensions (I think this is what helped) I think that is the original that came with 10.4.4 before applying any patches etc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10198-automatic-login-problems/#findComment-81277 Share on other sites
