Guys can you try this out on your ds3p's (with Firewire enabled) for me:

- Startup console and select all messages
- Put PC to sleep
- Wake up again
- Check console for FW GUID invalid msgs (its flooding here)

in S3 (str) shutdown works 50% - Sleep and Reboot 100% on my rig, using patched ACPI.

Thx

yeah that used to happen, before I updated to 10.5.2.

Now sleep doesn't work at all.

>_<

then again, i haven't done much to fix it..

hey guys,

does just curious, do the gigabyte boards need custom firmware to get the dual/quad cores working, like the ASUS ones do? (I cant seem to find it via search)

Cheers

Hey Socal

I have tried several times and cannot get past the grey screen of death on boot up. I have attempted it with several guides not specific too my board, and then found this guide. Is there a way I can wipe the drive completely, as in blank as blank can be, so I can attempt your guide word for word. Is it worth it? Are there any tricks for getting past the grey screen? How close is that to finishing?

Just out of interest I'm using the Kaylway disc with IDE HDD and SATA DVD drive.

Thanks heaps for all your time and effort helping us out.

Tonber.

well yes, seeing as that has long been supported, someone probably can help you.

Look in /System/Library/Extensions (this is your extensions folder), and see if there is a "kext" (kernel extension, or driver) called "Natit.kext" or "NVInject.kext".

and report back.

I used the kalyway iso's, no problems here, but 10.5.5 didn't work too well I believe. It's been a while since i've tried.

Does anyone know how to fix the random kernel panic issue when using 4 GB of memory?
I already found these 2 topics on the subject, but I don't know which one I should use.

there are two solutions:

1) use no devices on teh second controller (meaning no IDE drives, and only like 4 or 6 sata devices
2) use less than 3.25 GB of memory

you can use maxmem=3072 (put in boot.plist) to limit the ram without actually pulling a piece out.

good luck

oh and one more thing:

if you have no ide devices, you might want to delete jmicronATA.kext and appleVIAATA.kext as well.

good luck.

Hi,

I have almost the same MB as you, GA-EP35C-DS3R. I had previously Leopard running, installed some custom made OSX, dont remember which one, most likely iDeneb or Kalyway. It was running smoothly, apart from sleep and couln't play 3D games. (nVidia kext not proper I guess)

Now I want to install Lion, if possible. Saw other people with same or similar board running it smoothly. Others recommended me iATKOS L2. What do you say?

So, I installed iAtkos yesterdar, but at boot it's freezing (@ apple logo). I remember that I had with Leo the same, but only sometimes and could solve it with startup - commands. Can you maybe tell what should I try and what not? Or in general how could I install it the easy way, since i'm a big noob.

Thanks.

Bender,

About 3 months ago I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu. I wanted to use OpenCL for research, which turned out very well. Before that, I believe I never upgraded past Lion, though I imagine you can get Lion running on it.

Alas, I have a Macbook Pro (which I love) so I dont have a need to do hackintosh anymore.

Good luck!
Lewis
