*Repeated for about the third time*
Emulation will not work if your purpose is to install a firmware update. Its beyond the scope of power of VMs. The only way to accomplish this is to get a copy of 9.2, install it temporarily and install the firmware update.
Although I'm curious, what is the OS that the iMacs are running right now? If they are running something old like OS 8 or a old version of OS 9, then they are probably not suited for OS X anyway.

Oh and BTW: PearPC cannot run Mac OS/OSx versions under 10.1, and Sheepshaver cannot run versions of Mac OS/OSx over 9.04. So you are pretty much out of luck when it comes to virtualization/emulation.

The apple care services said yesterday to me... " Download from internet, and i wish you to be succesful..." Patetic
:( Apple removes of the market a neccesary SO for upgrading old macs, and it doens´t relase it for free...

I had to get one for my G3, all the copies I got from torrent sites wouldn't boot so I ended up buying one from eBay and now my iMac G3 now runs Tiger
