Rammjet, the first option for Sigmatel 9223 works on the 8.8.1 kernel, I've had no success with anything else.

Hi All!
Well after building my 3rd Hackintosh, i've managed to fix the audio for the BIOSTAR 945GZ ALC655 audio.
The easiest way I have found of finding what the Vendor/device/class numbers are is to disbale the hardrives/cdrom frtom booting in the bios and to read the allocation report on the screen. This shows you what hardware has been dectected and PnP set by the bios. If ound mine that way, no need to boot into WINDOWS at all!
Anyway to the driver....
I can confirm that the driver will give you:
Stereo OUT
LINE/MIC IN
Volume contriol from within OSX.
ALL TEST FULLY WORKING WITH LOGIC EXPRESS!!
Spec of the iHack is:
E4300 Core 2 Duo
BIOSTAR 945GZ 775 onbaord ALC655 (AC97) and GMA950
2 x 1GB 533 OCZ VALUE RAM
DVDRW/IDE HDD
xbench ~132
n.b.
as far as the BIOSTAR M/B goes all working haven't tested the SATA yet though

Sorry for the double post. but for those requiring better performance try version two of the driver.
this version requires a lot less CPU load and generally sounds better.
Enjoy

I have thinkpad x31 with AD1981 sound. Tried all the tutorials and hints, patching etc., but it didn't work. Finally I found out it was all a permissions problem. I don't know too much about all this stuff but I just tried to fix the permissions from hand. A kextload brought no change.
But, when I booted into OS X again, I was very surprised to find the sound device working.
Fantastic! Now I can finally quit using XP!

Just in case anyone is looking for professional cards that work in OSX86 I can confirm the RME HDSP9652 pci card works flawlessly down to latency buffer sizes of 64 samples. Fireface 800 also works perfectly, and the TC Konnekt 24D firewire also works perfectly.
Folks looking for a good cheap but high quality option should consider either the Konnekt 8 or the Konnekt 24D, both are firewire and frankly, blow your inbuilt soundcards or cheap Creative Labs out of the water for quality and stability.

Here you have modified .kext for ADI198x included in Dell Optiplex GX 520/620, i.e. ICH7. Tested with JaS 10.4.8. Enjoy
L.E.: Tested with 10.4.10, too, works flawless.

Would it be possible you can re-attach the file you posted. I too have a Dell Optiplex GX620 and got TOH's Leopard finally installed but don't have any sound installed. Thank you.
I have reattached the .kext in the original post, hope it works now

Your link to 10.4.7 CMI8738 kext is dead.
This was Dogberts driver originally written for 10.4.1
I recompiled the kext for 10.4.3. That kext still works. The original link is here.

The kexts are also available here:

For Realtek ALC 662 use Azalia kext method.
I saw also an installer that worked fine, just I don't remember where to get it.

Hi, maybe someone can help me here... i don't know if its correctly, i have posted in osx86 installation forum too but i think heres the better place for it!
First... i have a Asus Maximus Mainboard X38 (Intel ICH9, as far as i know!)
i have done the following steps:
searched for a AC97 Kext...
i have edited the kext ... added following VEN ID 11D4 and Dev 198B - 0x11D4198B
then typed
kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext
no errors and typed
kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions and reboot
but no Sound working
i can load the kext... successfully as terminal says...
when i do a kextstat i see the kext in last line...
but after reboot the kext is gone and still no sound ?! what did i'm wrong?
i also edited the codec kext... added ads70 and a few more... only to be sure to match the correctly... i didn know the ads id....

During the Kalyway Leopard install, you should have selected the first Azalia audio option when you customized the install. It worked for me with no edits required on my Maximus Formula. You can try using Pacifist on the disc to see if you can grab the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext and revert your changes back to defaults.
