Is this kext supposed to provide WoL functionality? I have an Intel 82579LM NIC on an Optiplex 990, running 10.7.4. In the energy pref I do have the option to "wake for ethernet network access," and I have it set in BIOS too. But I can't get the system to wake with a magic packet. Any thoughts?

Hi guys,
just wanted to confirm that even the newest (2.0.0.) AppleIntelE1000e doesnt work with 0x1503 on a P8Z68V-Pro. But fortunately version 1.6.2 seems to work!
The problem i had with the new driver was that i didnt get an IP adress when (cold-) starting the computer. Only after several reboots (2-6) the system was able to get an IP adress.
Hope this report helps,
cheers

I had the exact same issue last week with an 0x1503 on an MSI Z77A-GD55 and also version 2.0.0. I thought the board's ethernet port might have been bad and didn't have time to test further including with any other version of this driver. Pretty much the same symptoms but I never got an IP address at all. There was no "Link up at 1000Mbps" message or something like that when booting in verbose mode like there normally would be.

Strange issues using this kext in Mountain Lion. Some websites (i.e. www.dpreview.com) don't display at all. Youtube.com seems to be suffering from problems as well. But local filetransfers are still almost wirespeed (1 Gb/s).

I'm seeing similar issues when sites like Youtube. The flash never starts playing and all thumbnails are black. I did notice that if i use Chrome instead of Safari, it doesn't happen as often.

Hey Guys! First Post and I'm an Austrian boy so please excuse my english. xD
I really tried hard to get myIntel 82579V Network NIC working but I still have some problems.
I have an Asus P8Z68 v pro GEN3 mainboard and my Network worked before I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I allway's used hnak's kext to get things working.
But in Mountain Lion I got sirius problems with my upload. For example on a Skype call my partner only hear me stutter and it's impossible to understand me. Also controlling my hackintosh via teamviewer do not work. (lost connection in about 5 seconds)
Beside that, Youtube for example is fully working! No lags no black screens! My download speed is also very good!
I tried an internet speed test and the result was the same as in windows. So basically it's working but VERY unstable!
I tried every version of hnak's kext but the problem is still there.
If someone needs more information please ask me about it! Maybe we can solve this problem together.

I have this issue too. And I think it predates Mountain Lion, but cannot tell for sure.
It is also mentioned on tonymacx86 website: http://www.tonymacx8...html#post420249
Poster rcork reported "massive UDP packet loss with the Intele1000e driver" (post #12)
I seems to happen with html5 video streams on some motherboards/NIC/Driver combinations. People who have installed the Flash Player may not see the problem on YouTube because they get the Flash video stream instead of html5.
So People, please, don't just report "I don't see the problem", report under which circumstances. To see what stream causes the issue in YouTube, simply right-click on it and check whether it mentions Flash or HTML5 in the contextual menu.
I hope this issue gets resolved!

Have the same issue with WLAN+LAN enabled, videos and many sites loads too long, some does not load at all
with only WLAN enabled everything loads instant
with only LAN enabled speed is between two above connections
And Skype suffer from bad quality sound when I use LAN only
I think this is something wrong in kext, because I tested it in clean 10.6.8 and 10.7.3 and it loads everything fast
So suggestions to fix it are welcome

Ok dealing and playing with problem I'v found small solution
You just need to set priority of WLAN and LAN as:
Screen Shot 2012-08-31 at 20.19.57.png 118.93K
58 downloads
It will only work if you have laptop or machine with more than one network card, for one card I don't know how to fix it now
Possible better buy Apple USB Ethernet adapter

Commonly its on youtube, but sometimes on other sites
here is screencast + netstat log file
if you know how to get more stat from connections please tell me i'll do it again
https://www.dropbox..../ScreenFlow.mov
And It seems to be on 10.8 only, for tests I've installed 10.6.8 and 10.7 on testd disk and no problem on 10.7 with it (wlan kext doesn't boot on it, only lan was active), 10.6 is fine too with lan

What do you mean by "WLAN" and "LAN" in this context??? This is confusing... You seem to imply that WIFI=WLAN and Ethernet=LAN... why is that? Am I missing something?
It might be true for YOUR particularly setup, but not in a general sense, methinks.
I happen to have both Wifi AND Ethernet, and they BOTH connect to the SAME LAN, defined by my Time Capsule Router.
BTW, if it works via Wifi and doesn't with Ethernet, it is simply because they use different connection paths (Wifi hardware Vs. Ethernet NIC), and obviously different driver software, only one of which having with the issue.
And so, "setting highest priority to Wifi" simply means "Don't use Ethernet, don't use AppleIntelE1000e.kext". One might just as well remove the Ethernet card. Obviously, the problem is no longer going to be there as it has been determined to come most probably from AppleIntelE1000e.kext
Of course, if one has a choice of connections, it is good to know as a short term fix.
Anyway, glad to see hnak has taken notice and reproduced the issue.

Another issue I've seen using the driver in OS X is DNS resolving sometimes failing for Amazon Route 53/AWS sites. Randomly they'll fail to resolve, and manually looking them up in the console has given timeout errors. Example sites to try are dl.dropbox.com and www.dpreview.com
Only happens with this kext, and in 10.8. Was fine in 10.7, and using a different network card under 10.8 works fine too. Could be related to the youtube and skype issues?
