The plugin is called FakeSMCnVclockPort, it's for (nV)IDIA GPUs.

There's none for ATI.

Hello d00d, sorry for using a open thread to personal comunication.

First i have to say that i appreciate the way you did put all together in this thread, and your amazing track keeping capability (which i never had, i forget what i did eat as soon as i digest it).

I still had no time to read this thread that was pointed to me as a source for researches by a tester of some moded bios i do for p45 series, but passing the eyes trough the 1st post, shows you have a organization capability that maybe i need to learn if i want to go public without being missunderstood.

As your PM box was full here, i did send you a PM with my personal contact trough the other forum we participate (the one that you need to complete a quiz to join etc). If possible please contact me, I'd like to talk to you and share some toughs.

Congratulations for your researches.

If you have slower graphic performance after 10.6.4 update, rename it from MacPro4,1 to MacPro3,1.

Worked for me.

Thanks, that worked.

I get the following GPU speeds using alphamerik's nvclock from projectosx.com.

As MacPro4,1 at idle the GPU clock is at level 0, and Shader and Memory clocks are at level 2;

GPU clock: 300.856 MHz

-- Shader info --

Clock: 1476.000 MHz

-- Memory info --

Clock: 1242.000 MHz

As MacPro4,1 at load the GPU clock is at level 0, Shader and Memory clocks are at level 2, FPS rates are very low, and Geekbench numbers are normal;

GPU clock: 300.856 MHz

-- Shader info --

Clock: 1476.000 MHz

-- Memory info --

Clock: 1242.000 MHz

As MacPro3,1 at idle the GPU clock is at level 0, and Shader and Memory clocks are between level 1 and 2;

GPU clock: 300.856 MHz

-- Shader info --

Clock: 1296.000 MHz

-- Memory info --

Clock: 1188.000 MHz

As MacPro3,1 at load the GPU clock is at level 2, and Shader and Memory clocks are at level 2, FPS rates are normal, and Geekbench numbers are normal;

GPU clock: 648.000 MHz

-- Shader info --

Clock: 1476.000 MHz

So I flashed this bios and have been running smoothly since May.

Today, I updated to 10.6.4 and get a kp unless i boot in safe mode.

Any thoughts?

I get a version mismatch between kernel and cpu pm

I will update today my latest bios and files in Extra.

For me all runs smoothly. ;)

As MacPro3,1 after sleep and wake at idle the GPU clock is at level 2, and Shader and Memory clocks are at level 2.

This is a problem, as GPU idle temperature should be around 47C, but now it's around 56C.

so d00d, performance-wise it is best to rename to MacPro4,1 or MacPro3,1?
MacPro3,1, but at idle after wake the GPU was stuck at load level 2 instead of idle level 0.

I've gone back to using MacPro4,1, as I don't game on it.

just to confirm, i also have much decreased graphics performance on my GTX285, UD5 setup after the 10.6.4 upgrade. (I'm also using d00ds DSDT mods).

Thanks for the info on getting fan monitoring to work will try it over the weekend.

On my GTX 470 changing to MacPro3,1 immensely increased scores/fps as well.

d00d, have you any issues with your GTX285 getting a brief screen blinking glitch when transitioning from high to low GPU load? Looks something like this: http://netkas.org/?p=442 but happens to me in SL.

I have a GTX285+GTS250 added in my DSDT, and my GTS250 never "blinks", it only happens on my GTX285.

Have my SMproductname set to MacPro4,1 and attached is my nvclock output. Many thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but there's a good topic on GeForce 4xx at;

I didn't notice any glitch in 10.6.3, and in 10.6.4 the GPU clock speed doesn't change as MacPro4,1, so no glitch noticed now either.

Hey,

i just tried the DSDT you uploaded in the first post ( DSDT_GA_EX58_UD5_F9m_S3_920_W3520_v2.zip )

My Mashine is a GA-EX58-UD5, but with Bios F12 Installed. Im using a nVidia 9800 and only Sata devices.

The nVidia card runs with EFI Strings - Created with the DD-Script.

Now The Problems:

i Can not reboot or shutdown the machine in 64 bit mode. i Just hangs. (also no sleep)

Please tell me wich kexts do i realy need in my config?

Hi d00d,

Thanks for posting the new FakeSMC with plug-ins for fan monitoring. Installed using digital dreamers script, rebuilt caches and works great. see attached.

Cheers

Jon

Be aware that some of the plug-ins associated with FakeSMC could effect your C-States and increase core temperature. I'm not sure what your hardware setup is but your core temps seem a tad bit high. Check to see if you still have c-states active.

Hey,

i just tried the DSDT you uploaded in the first post ( DSDT_GA_EX58_UD5_F9m_S3_920_W3520_v2.zip )

Please tell me wich kexts do i realy need in my config?

...

And this is the Bootlog:

Any idea what i can do now?

I listed the few kexts I use towards the end of post 1.

The SMCITEController plugin drops CStates, but FakeSMCSuperIO doesn't.

FakeSMCSuperIO is what I included in the version I compiled.
