Worked perfectly fine for me, and I also managed to restore to a custom 3.0 fw on my iphone perfectly fine with it as well.

Also heres everythings fine with 10.5.7 and my GA-EP35-DS3, 2 GB RAM,  and NV 8500GT. Only the Podcasts won't work! I cannot download Podcasts since iTunes 8.2

...and why did I buy a new Ipod Touch? Without Podcasts.... :-(

I can use the Appstore or download Music, but Podcast downloading is impossible... Has anyone some answers for me please???

I was having the same issue.  I followed instructions here:

To create a _usbmuxd user and group.  Now I have permissions issues:
MobileDevice: store_dict_osx: Could not create /var/db/lockdown//97d0b58a558404c9b2de6b2d3d866d0750e1a7ea.plist: Permission denied

Any ideas?  Did you get past your issue somehow?

I have an issue with itunes 8.2, every time I connect my ipod touch if itunes is not already running and I start the app, it will crash, but if I open first itunes 8.2 and then connect the ipod, its fine, no crash. Never have this problem before, weird.

A more complete procedure for adding the user appears at:

But, even that article contains a typo in the "executable" portion ... two missing CR/LFs.  Here is his list of commands to add the user "_usbmuxd":
