A beta of parralels is avaible:

http://www.parallels.com/download/

On Golem [GER] they said that parralels use VT (a MAC has VT?) with the x86 MACs for more performance:

http://www.golem.de/0604/44515.html

P.S: I used parallels on linux before, I have import my Qemu VMs by creating a new VM in parallels with the same disk size and after that I just exchange the HD files.

Haven't heard of Parallels before. Any chance the Windows version vill run Os X?

I've tested it with the Linux trial version:

I was able to import Qemu images and run them. Only the deadmoo image was not working. I think they don't support SSE2.

P.S: the test was on PentiumM where OSX86 is running fine.

Note for AMD users like me: this software cannot run as it is, but needs to be "patched".

I'm going to explane you how to make it running on an AMD machine:

1) Download it

2) Mount the image

3) Launch Parallels.pkg... Ta-daaan! XD It says that you haven't a compatible system, in italian it says "Parallels non può essere installato in questo computer. Assicurati che il tuo sistema possieda i requisiti necessari.", in english "Parallels cannot be installed on this computer. Make sure that your system meets the requirements."

4) Copy Parallels.pkg on your desktop

5) Right click on it and choose "Show package contents"

6) Right click on "Contents", show informations and under "Ownership and permission" make you owner of it with a read/write access

7) Apply to enclosed items...

8) Open "Info.plist" with TextEdit and delete the follow:

<key>IFRequirementDicts</key>

<array>

<dict>

<key>Level</key>

<string>requires</string>

<key>SpecArgument</key>

<string>machdep.cpu.vendor</string>

<key>SpecType</key>

<string>sysctl</string>

<key>TestObject</key>

<string>GenuineIntel</string>

<key>TestOperator</key>

<string>eq</string>

</dict>

</array>

9) Save and exit

10) Go to Resources folder and delete InstallationCheck and pkmkshellutility

11) Exit and launch your modified Parallels.pkg

12) Install it! ^___^

All this it's because Parallels use Intel's specials virtualization functions... AMD haven't these :)

Hope that it works for you too,

Sherry Haibara

Fully installed and working here on a Celeron + D915GUXL system running 10.4.5.

Works pretty good too, networking, etc.

I don't think sound is supported in the software yet, but who cares! This is incredible.

Just got home with my Pentium D 920, it should all be together shortly and I'll be able to test it on a chip that actually has the Intel Virtualization extensions :D

I can't wait!

Has anyone had problems downloading this as i keep getting a corrupt dmg file.

Me too. It was because the download was stopping at 2.2 mb. Use Firefox to download the file, if it fails, download again and replace the trunked file. This will resume it at the point it was left, or you can use a download manager. The final size must be 17.5 mb I think.

Yep I kept getting this, downloaded it on my G4 instead and it was fine. Would not download using Safari or Firefox on my hackintosh.

I have XP now running in the Parallels workstation, seems ok, a bit slow but better than VPC ever was. I cant go full screen though I get an error message about resolutions and xwindows.

works great on my thinkpad t42 with maximuss' 10.4.5...

networking stops working on my thinkbook, though (works inside the virtual PC, tho).. i.e., nothing in macos can touch the net (not even a ping), although all routes, ifconfigs, etc, look right.. but windows can.

weird.

christ it's fast, with no SSE3 or VT

This is really strange, with the D915GUXL and Celeron I was able to use networking in both OS X and Windows simultaneously.

On a Asus P5LD2-VM and Pentium D 920, when I have networking enabled in Windows, it won't work in OS X.

Hmmmm ..

I'm actually doing a reinstall right now since the installation was transferred from the old hardware so ..

An added note, the speed difference is HUGE when you click that "Enable VT" box. I tried it both enabled and disabled on my Pentium D, and the difference was night and day. Hell, it was fast without Enable VT, but when you turn it on it's mind boggling.

Anyone try running it off an existing windows NTFS Drive? Or do you have to use a disk image? Be nice to dual boot as well as use it to quickly get things done. IE. Play Battlefield 2 dual bootings or just surf and IE only website in OSX.

Wow. Very snappy. I also lose network on OSX when running it. OSX is more or less unusable when VM is running. 1gb RAM, Intel a920, MSI 945g Neo.

Try a different NIC. What NIC is on that board you're using?

It did the same thing with the onboard Intel gigabit on my P5LD2-VM, but when I stuck a plain old 100mb Intel in the PCI slot it didn't have the same problem.
