Hi im from Portugal and today i watched over the New York Times web site the debate betwen Barack Obama And Jonh McCain.

I really liked some of the ideas that Barak has for the future of America and if i were to be an American i probably would make a vote for him...

But since im an outsider i would really like to hear(read) your opinion on this matter...

After the last two elections...

I think only non-americans should be allowed to vote. :D

Good idea

And only non-Italians or Italians who have been living abroad for at least 5 years should be allowed to vote for the Italian parliament.

Socialized Healthcare- xport controls- higher taxes- making friends and downing America all around the world- taking away your right to religion and bare arms- assosiate and make friends with terriorest and known enemies of the US. Obama or Putin either one a good choice for you. This is the United States of America. We are not the bad guys no matter what obama and his wife, preacher or know terriorest friends say.

Socialized Healthcare

That's a good thing

xport controls

Another good thing

making friends and downing America all around the world

What?

taking away your right to religion and bare arms

Uh...no.

assosiate and make friends with terriorest and known enemies of the US

I don't think "friends" is the right word, maybe "people who were on the same committee together."

Obama or Putin either one a good choice for you

Actually, his VP is Joe Biden

This is the United States of America. We are not the bad guys no matter what obama and his wife, preacher or know terriorest friends say.

His friends aren't terrorists, and the United States government is the bad guy.

Happy to correct you, now go sodomize yourself with a retractable baton.

Polite as always,

You are correct! Obama is BAD for America.

?????????? What???????????

How can it be a "good thing" for you to be forced by the government to pay (with your hard earned $) for my healthcare? That is nothing but a redistribution of wealth. Where do you think the money would come from? The answer taxes. Who money pays taxes?

If I have to pay for someone's healthcare, I have a say in how they live (smoke, drink to much, eat to much, sleep around....all causing self induced health problems)

If people want the right to live the way they want, they have the responsibility to look after themselves.

How would you like it if we didn't have socialized libraries, or public schools? Put yourself in a situation where you are a family man, who doesn't make a lot of money. Now don't you think it is nice that you can send your kids to school paying anything, and that they can go to a library for absolutely no cost to do some homework, or read a book. Now what if your son or daughter got beaten up, and that you didn't have a health care plan, and you were already tight on money. You can't afford the cast that she needs on her arm. What do you do? Now, some people would say, and I have actually heard people saying this, "get a job." Now my response to those people would be to go and shut the hell up. It is a right of the citizens to have health care.

BAA HAA HAA!

OK... this thread is HILARIOUS!

"Can't we all just get along?"

Bush is out... America and the world can rest a little easier come January. It might be just a little step but either Obama or McCain will be step in the right direction. Neither are going to singlehandedly save the world or the US. Maybe the new prez will be able to inspire more change among the real movers and shakers in this country... "we the people." If they can't... well, we can all take comfort in knowing Bush/Cheney and their "legacy of peace" are out of office so there's a little more time. We just might not blow the world to kingdom come right away after all. :hysterical:

its a privilege not a right. good people like me shouldn't have to pay for other peoples drug/alcohol addiction .

That's right.

If we waste our money on stupid stuff like health care or improving our communities we won't have enough to bail out greedy, crooked corporations when they get done raping our citizens, let alone prosecute the war of the month.

:hysterical:

Looks like we have some AIG CEO's on this site ...

When kids go off to war to fight for America's freedoms, NO ONE cries NOT fair when most of them joined the army to make a living or pay for college to begin with ... They did NOT sign up to go and DIE in another country for the fun of it and yet they still do their jobs with ZERO complaints ...

When someone jokingly states that paying taxes should be seen as a PATRIOTIC venture due to the fact that American really needs to start working on strengthening their economy, the WEALTHY cry foul ...

How about ALL the wealthy go and fight in Iraq and Afghanistan to safeguard their millions and the middle class and borderline poor who join the army to protect America's freedoms stay home to work so that we do NOT have to raise taxes to pay for Expenses our great grandchildren are being burdened with ...

Lets hear the upper 5% cry foul after losing a leg ...

There is NOTHING like socialism ... Like Barack says, He is Blessed just like some of the other well to do Americans, so if HIM and the other folks who can afford it chip in to safeguard the futures of ALL American children , grandchildren and great grandchildren, WHAT IS SO WRONG ABOUT THAT ?

President Obama FTW ...

Wait a moment...Didn't (many of) the Wealthy in your country just destroy the World economy?

Now now... I wouldn't be too quick to point fingers here. It might have been Americans who thought up this quick rich scheme but it seems to me the greedy the world over snapped it up like nobody's business. The failure to see this for what it really was can be shared. Maybe we should all hold hands and mourn the loss of capitalism as we knew it. :D

Hey, we can look at the bright side.... the troops ARE coming home. Why? Because we're bankrupt! Whoo Hoo! One problem solved for the incoming president. :D

wow............I´m really impressed guys. after all that what had happened you still don´t understand.

you still see all black or white - nothing in between. a social health care could be there for everbody and although rule the extra costs for misuse of alcohol, drugs and so on. we have enough working examples here in europe.in this case people have to be checked regularly and their dues have to be adjusted to their behaviour.side effect of this is that the regularly checks are reducing also the costs because of early diagnosises.

that´s really sad the way you think. intelligent solutions could be also a compromise. but allowing too many parties to get involved with lobbying, it seems that you know only two choices: helth care - no health care,no guns - guns, democrats - republicans.................

probably it would be a good start to have more parties involved in your political systems to support the diversity of opinion.

'good people'??

Where hypocrisy kicks in is when the very same people with this attitude catch some nasty chronic disease, cancer, kidney failure, diabetes... you name it, suddenly realising that their private health plan or credit card don't cover everything properly and then start screaming for help and "WHY ME?"

It can hit anybody, you know....

And that is of course a dirty word. Let the Poor rotten and the Wealthy thrive.

Wait a moment...Didn't (many of) the Wealthy in your country just destroy the World economy?

it isnt fair to take our hard earned prosperity and give it to undeserving lazy/dumb people

Police, Fire dept., Libraries, Schools (sorry, you probably think all schools should be private), Roads, etc. All paid for with tax dollars. Health care is no less important to the health and prosperity of a society than any of these.
