  1. Snow leopard about to be released

Not to say Snow Leopard is ready but the release of 10.5.7 has nothing to do with a major release. 10.5.7 is a free update to a existing continued supported product. Snow Leopard is a new sale. The two has nothing to do with each other. They could relese them both on the same day if they like because everyone out in the real world will not drop Leopard and go with Snow Leopard the day it is released. They still want Leopard to be the best it can be.
  2. This has to be one of the most complete and well done tutoral/ information page yet. Your easy to read and follow page gave me the ability to do an install from the retail dvd. My system and for me personally this is one of the most important advance to date. My Hackintosh ran well from Kalaway 10.5.1 thru all update from the apple site to now 10.5.6 but after the clean retail install my build has moved to a new level. I can not find anything not working perfectly. Here is a little info on my build. FYI: Mobo- Asus P5e..Cpu- Intel Q9650 3.0ghz (oc 4.3ghz) Ram- 8gb Geil ddr2 800 ram Video Card- Asus 8800gt 512mb Cooling- Artic Cooling Freezer 7 pro HD-Dual 500 gb drives Burner- LG Multi dvd/blu-ray drive. All I had to do after The loader boot and install w/retail dvd was a couple of modifications for lan and video. Easily found with hardware info and google. I said all this to say thanks for your and everyone involved with the OSX86 projects everywhere and especially thanks to you. Hackintosh project has changed me to a big OSx fan...
  3. Randomness. Worst Windows OS?

Toss up? Vista & Me. Other than the Dos based windows 3.0-3.1 ect.The problems with Vista was just Me revisited. I have been a Microsoft fan for as long as I have had a computer, early dos days. I hated Me but it was the only real choice. Today we have OS X which is by far the best, just me. I have a Hackintosh (P5e-q9650 quad core clocked 4.3 ghz. Asus 8800gt, 2 hard drives & blu-ray drive that works like a charm) that never crashes & another computer, dual boot XP & Vista. I also run XP with vmware on my hack. For every day use I use OS X. For opps I have to do that there is not readly available I use XP. I almost never use Vista. I tried it with all updates for about a year and hate it. It is the most unstable piece of #@&! Microsoft has made. Largest, slowest most unstable piece of bloatware ever. I wish Microsoft would package Windows by itself. The bigest problem all versions of windows have is they are trying to be all things to all people. Compatability and conectivity is great but they give up too much stability and security at the same time. I hope for Microsoft's sake Windows 7 is better. As my father used to say " Get Good or get gone".While business will stay with Microsoft for years to come the home user will change in a heart beat. Second & End thought: Vista Hands Down the worst. Ubuntu third!!!!
  4. iWork '09 trojan beware!

)--> QUOTE( @ Jan 22 2009, 10:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Headline says in engadget.com iWork '09 trojan infects at least 20,000 machines. http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/22/iwork-0...hines/#comments Pirated iWork '09 installer may contain trojan horse in macworld.com http://www.macworld.com/article/138380/iworktrojan.html I didn't have iwork09 but as i was reading, i found this and thought someone might need this. sees if you have it at /System/Library/StartupItems for an item named iWorkServices a copy paste of ways to get ride of it from engadget user Aaron I am new to the Mac world and love it. I have been a windows fan from '95 and dos before that. What I hate is the fact that with windows all you have to do is visit a site and get infected. This is not a flaw in the system just a flaw in the way WE use it. If you buy software off the shelf or the original software site you have nothing to worry about. If you download a torent you better have protection. This makes the ability to install and update your Hack from the official site so important. Thanks all. Just my thoughts. Thanks Apple.
  5. Do Mac's get viruses?

I am not annoyed because I am sure because unlike windows the term Mac refers to both Hardware & software (osx). So it is correct to ask " Does Mac's get viruses?" I am sure he is speaking of the hardware's ownership of the software. Does the Mac Hardware's os get viruses? The answer is YES IT CAN AND WILL MORE AS IT BECOMES RELEVANT IN THE MAIN STREAM. Everyone knows, if they pay attention to the Hacker competitions it took almost 3 times longer to hack in Vista than OS X. I am a forever Microsoft user who has like so many others switched to Mac and love it. But the truth is in the real world why spend all your time trying to find a Mac on the web when you can close your eyes and hit a thousand Vistas. The bottom like is ( even thou I love mine ) the reason Mac does not get as many virus is because knowone cares to make them. They are like a needle in a hay stack. Again I love OS X.
  6. Everyone knows it is not Microsofts fault 64 bit has not moved in the main stream any sooner. It is George Bush's fault. He lied, some cried and 64 bit died. So get off this blame MS for all the worlds problem and put it where it belongs.
  7. I have an install problem with my DVD burner. I have searched all forums for an answer. My dvds are installing as unknown controller. The dvds will load and play but will not burn with any program I can find for a Mac. All I get is the error message " No Super Drive Found". Any Help is appreciated. I started out with Kalyway 10.5.1 and updated to 10.5.2 with Kalyway. All other update are done from Apple all the way to the present 10.5.6. Everything is running great except no burner found. Below is all the info I know about my build: MOBO Asus P5e LGA 775 x38 /ICH9r chipset - Marvell88E8056 Pcie GB Lan Controller- Jmicron Pata-Sata controller- AMI Bios. CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3.0 Ram Geil 4 GB DDR/800 Video Asus EN8800GT/512 geforce card DVDs LG Internal DVD/Blu-ray GBW-H20L Sata drive Samsung Internal SHS203NBSBN- Sata multi Drive. I had the Samsung first and it would not burn and added the LG and it has the same problem. Any thoughts are appreciated. I also cannol open Toast 9 but it might be slovet it I can get this fixed.

  9. Asus P5E Deluxe

I am running the Asus P5e MOB - Asus En8800gt/512mb Vid card - Intel core2 E8400- 3.0mghz over clocked to 3.8mgh- OSX 10.5.6. I think it is a very good board setup for overclocking and running OSX. The only thing I have had to do was change a couple settings for the network card. I first installed 10.5.1 and have done updates from Mac site. Running great...

  11. Easy Update Guide 10.5.2-10.5.5

This guide is updated all it needs to be. If you will look at the Apple support site and this side you will see this is all you need. The DSDT patcher and disabler kext is not needed. The problems people are having is caused by an incomplete download of the updates. Down load the update..follow this guide or the guide you have been doing for 10.5.3- 10.5.4 - 10.5.5 and if your download was done in the last couple of days after Apple fixed their site you should be ok. To start with see the update in this link. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=133683 All is good...
  12. Question. If you have up dated to 10.5.5 is this update needed?
  13. U.S Presidency

Socialized Healthcare- xport controls- higher taxes- making friends and downing America all around the world- taking away your right to religion and bare arms- assosiate and make friends with terriorest and known enemies of the US. Obama or Putin either one a good choice for you. This is the United States of America. We are not the bad guys no matter what obama and his wife, preacher or know terriorest friends say.
  14. I have a e8400 and ASUS P5E -4g Ram- En8800gt graphics. It is standard @ 3.0 and it is clocked @ 4.02 cool and with no issues. Updated to 10.5.4..
  15. Does Vista look prettier than OS X?

Yes Vista is prettier, especially when you hit a key, the system fades and freezes. It is beautiful man, just beautiful.
