Just days after the release of the new red (RED) iPod, rumors have begun forming about red (RED) MacBooks and iMacs. Think secret has the scoop:

While sources were unable to explain exactly why, Apple CEO Steve Jobs is said to have had reservations about billing the player as simply the iPod nano (RED), despite Bono's desire to keep the naming convention consistant with other (RED) products.

Sources say the iPod's name was the final point of consideration in negotiations to bring the (RED) iPod to market.

Still unknown is whether Apple will be bringing more products to the (RED) campaign, although that answer is likely to lie at least partially with how well the iPod nano sells. Sources have reported that Mr. Jobs and Bono have discussed bringing a (RED) iMac and (RED) MacBook to market, as well.

Red Macs that are now capable of the Blue Screen of Death... and (according to environmentalists) aren't very green. Anyone else want to stick with white?

$10 is better than $0 everyday.

I would much rather buy a black nano, or a white macbook and still donate the money...

I thought the same thing until I saw one of the red nanos yesterday. I looks pretty awesome. Though I dont think a red macbook would look very good at all (judging from the pictures above).

$10 is good, but more would be better. The red nanos look nice but from that pic, red MBs and MBPs don't look that good to me.

From my perspective (not caring one bit about the color of a lame product I'll never buy), if you're going to be selling something to raise money for a good cause, donate everything, or everything over the cost, or just donate a lump sum from general revenue. Otherwise, you're just using poor AIDS kids in Africa to line your pocket. Would you buy a Livestrong bracelet if only $0.01 actually went to cancer research?

It reminds me of those Save the Children charities, where only $0.10 out of every dollar actually goes to saving children. The rest goes to "administrative costs".

For shame.
