"Titan" Enables QE/CI for Hackintosh NVIDIA Cards

REVENGE

In an unexpected breakthrough, Omni released on November 1st a special kext codenamed "Titan" that enables 10.4.8 original NVIDIA kexts to properly detect and accelerate QE/CI on PC NVIDIA video cards. Implications include being able to use a wide range of PC NVIDIA graphics cards with both "Hackintoshes" and "Macintoshes", and possibly even ATI drivers in the future based on the same method. The kext itself is NOT a modification of the original NVIDIA 10.4.8 kexts, but rather something that enables the PC cards to be initialized properly (full technical explication on Omni's site). Note that this kext will only "officially" work with new 10.4.8 hackernels (currently, only Intel SSE3 is available), although some users have reported success with older kernels by moving over the 10.4.8 NVIDIA kexts.

UPDATE: Just a reminder that various 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 kernels are also in beta staging right now. They are stable enough to be deployed and used, though deployment is still a hassle because no ppf patch has been released. If you have a Geforce graphics card and an AMD processor (like me), you can head on over to our genius bar and try to get a new kernel working to install Titan/Natit. Good luck!

Thanks to Simania NL for posting this in Reader News!

A preliminary HCL has been setup here.

UPDATE: NeoPheus, creator of the easy-to-use installers for the Borisbandenov ATI driver and the DaemonES Realtek driver, has created a new installer for dm_webd's Titan clone "Natit".

UPDATE: Our wiki now has an info page with HCL on Titan

Try it folks and post your results!

If anyone gets problems, remember to get the kexts seperately from Demonoid. If at all possible, try to use a 10.4.8 8.8.1 Install DVD from the start to avoid problems such as black screen, inverted, NForce mobo f***ups, etc.

Any news on compatibility with 512mb cards? ATI and Quadro cards are working with 512mb, but I can't get my 7900gto working to save my life. Neither Titan, nor Natit are working - get a black screen every time I boot up.

here we go again, stupid questions...

i have an "nVidia geForce 440MX" and i would like QE/CI support.

1) I downloaded the accellerated nvidia kext's but the readme says i need to be running 10.4.8 (which i am) and kernel 8.8.1 (which i'm not)

2) I have an sse2 cpu, can i upgrade to the 8.8.1 kernel ? if so how ? URL ?

3) After upgrading the kernel (if at all possible) can i expect QE/CI to work ?

QE and CI are not available unless you have a running 8.8.1 kernel.

8.8.1 is not SSE2 compatible at the moment.

Maybe not, we are seeing that the newer cards are getting QE/CI, but is a matter of test your card once the kernel supports SSE2 (or emulates SSE3).

any idea of an ETA on sse2 support for kernel 8.8.1 ?
