(MoC)
Well, I made this to see what users think of the two clients. I vote iChat for simplicity, ease of use, and just looking better! Headrush69
Opps, voted iChat but definitely meant to select Adium. Looks are mute since both can be modified but Adium just because it works easier with MSN. (Always found Jabber with MSN gateway ackward in the past.) SDRacer48
I use Adium, but really don't like either. I would rather use Pidgin, but I don't feel like doing that thing that allows it to run on OS X. Headrush69
Wonder if Cerulean Studio's Trillian for OS X will ever leave private testing. http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/?p=205 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95557-ichat-vs-adium/#findComment-681443 Share on other sites

Special-K
You should add a neither choice. Cause I don't use either of them. Actually I don't really instant message people. fatshitcat
Adium iChat doesn't have native Yahoo! support. Arrrrgh! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95557-ichat-vs-adium/#findComment-681893 Share on other sites
gabe_
I really only IM on one network... and that's AIM. When I'm on a Mac I typically use iChat. In other OS's I switch off between miniaim, and Pidgin... I haven't touched Adium since it's very early releases, circa 2001. Berzerker
Adium by far. Firstly, it's open source. Second of all, it's much more modifiable than iChat, in terms of sounds, skins, message styles, and more. And third of all, the big one, it has multi-protocol connection support, meaning I can be connected to MSN, AIM, Jabber, Skype AND Yahoo all at the same time! This is a simple feature that most third-party IM clients have and I automatically say no to any client that doesn't have this. Forceman
I picked Adium because it supports MSN and more protocols, I have to use it for my friends. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95557-ichat-vs-adium/#findComment-682188 Share on other sites
Knacker
I don't get why people say iChat has a great interface... I hate it! Adium's is awesome, especially its handling of grouping messenger windows with tabs, and how you can just drag them out of the group or back into it. X-Ray Mac
I'd vote Adium if it could connect to my MSN account more than once a month and had video chat. iChat it is.
