Zephyroth 10.5.2 Booting Really Slow!

So the title says it all, the install is a huge success, all works except for sleep, but booting takes on average 8-9 minutes. below i have a log (edited to keep my anonymity) of my system, from the last thing i see in verbose to the actual log out of my system. so please, what is goin on here???

This is a common problem with 10.5.2 from what i understand. I fixed mine with the Netkas Speedstep kernel. You might want to try that.

well, i did find its something to do with the network. somebody with one of the same error messages i get has a real mac, it takes them a while to boot, and its because its trying to access the network card, something like UUID, and it can't so it takes about 5 minutes there. hmm. kinda suspicious if u ask me

Hmmmm... I felt my bootup was really slow(it´s 1 minute and 13 seconds)... but compared to yours it´s lightning fast... ;-)

 

BUT I had almost forgot that when I first installed Zephyroth it took 5-6 minutes to start up...I belive this happens beause some kind of interrupt is missing.

 

The solution?Just plug in something that creates an interrupt, a wifi usb dongle, an ethernet cable, an external disk(I´ve only tried with a usb disk, but it probably works with firewire as well).

Just plugging something like that in, makes the boot time go from 5-6 minutes to 1:13 on my machine.

 

And makes the graphics update MUCH smoother!

 

And changing the kernel DOESN´T make any difference. I´ve just tried timing it with netkas 9.2.0 speedstep(which I´m currently using), the original 9.2.0 toh kernel which came with the zephyroth 10.5.2 install, and the toh 9.2.2 kernel, and the difference is only a few seconds, if any.

 

Alright... I know this isn´t a perfect solution, but I hope you find it useful anyway!

Look if your Kernel and System.kext have the same version!

 

for kernel version type uname -r in terminal

For System.kext version right cklick that kext and click on "get info"

do you use any IDE controller like jmicron controller (under AHCI mode). For example, gigabyte boards have jmicron IDE controller. I figured that when I used hard disks attached to this jmicron controlled ports under AHCI mode, i will get this iokitwaitquiet and exceptionally long boot times up to 2 minutes. If I set this controller to IDE mode, then the boot is within 45 seconds. Turns out that jmicron is so junky that it causes other problems like having more than 4 GB RAM. Eventually, I simply disabled this jmicron controller from BIOS, moved my hard disks to the intel ICH controller ports, deleted the jmicron related kext in extension folder. And I dont get any trouble with RAM, or long boot times or iokitwaitquiet. Just an observation from my side.Not sure about AMD, but check if something similar is a scenario.

Don't know why.In your case, it looks like code signing is the problem. you have errors full of it.And btw, you have revealed your identity, Matt Smith.

I'm having the exact same problem. It came and went and now is back. I will try the IDE/JMicron stuff and see if that helps. I will report back tonight if there is any success.
