please let us know how the openGL works for you. I'm dying to get a better verson on my install. ;)

oh, I really hope not. I would love to be able to just replace my OpenGL package... ;)

I had a big surprise this night with the new kext (10.4.5), the Nvidia ones. they are seem to be loading. Huh. I never expected this. I just replaced the old ones with the new ones and it seems to be loading. But unfortunaly it crashed my instlallation. On boot I got bloked on boot with the apple bootscreen logo and spining circle. I heard all the sounds from msn messanger (Adium) but the bootscreen was still there. I guess this is happening because the mach_kernel incompatibilty. I read on another thread that some ATI guys had the same experience when trying to load the 10.4.4 kext on 10.4.3. If the drivers where not working I think I shouldn't got this experience.

To this drivers work .. (If work... )

System Requirements on Apple website...

— Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later

— (8G1165, 8G1171 or 8G1172)

But I think this are Intel Binary Nvidia drivers :happymac:

I think we have NVIDIA drivers, and with the proper Maxxuss patches they will work. So let's wait for Maxxuss.

The nvidia drivers don't work they are the same {censored} in every release, i guess apple includes them just to {censored} people off

Myzar, don't you think you are being a bit too cynical? I mean how do you know they don't work, have you tried? If so, what have you tried? I don't expect them to work either and have my money on the Macvidia team, but not giving the new drivers a decent try seems somewhat counterproductive, don't you think?

It takes 10 sec to find out whether they are worth it or not. Thin the NVDAResman and look at the file size of the i386 portion. If it's 70KB or so then it's just a dummy file filled with stubs and nothing else.

But I'll save you the trouble, I've done that already yesterday when 10.4.5 came out and the file is just a dummy.

i've tried them before speaking

I understand, (also thanks omni for a that wonderful check). I apologize if i sounded short, its just that this hass been bothering me for ages, I mean every few weeks, what seems to be hope, then nothing.... at this point I seriously wish i bought an s360 instead of a 460, at least it has an ati videocard. but then i would be sitting here waiting for widescreen in a similar fashion. oh how it just seems like i can't win with this.

I tryed to load the kext again (after fresh install), and they didn't had the same efect. Maybe Apple wants to {censored} ppl of. For 10 seconds made me think that my Nvidia card should stay, and forget about upgrading to ATI9600. Hmmm, Apple does a grate job in pissing ppl of and makes them to have fals ilusions. Grate job Apple!

Apple has no reason to release nvidia drivers until they sell a system with an nvidia card built in. This might not happen until Apple releases an intel equivalent of the G5. When is that supposed to come out? June?

well, yes, but i think it would be something with 7800 chip... and other may be not supportable... :thumbsdown_anim:

am i right?

Hum.. I dont think so.. because if u see the drivers on Windows... are the same for all cards... only change a few things... if they release only for 7800, is more easy to find a way to use other cards ( only supported QE and CI ) and the experts can make it run .. I think ;)

We have a great example of ATI ... =)

the new INTEL MAC dont have 9600 RADEON .. but... the driver works good ;)
