KDE 4.1 will be what everyone expected 4.0 to be — a fully functional revolutionary Linux desktop. I took a look at the revision 777000 of this desktop environment and what you get is a visual changelog describing the current progress in terms of look and feel and the features.
I haven't even gone near KDE 4.

Your not the only one KDE4 IS the reason I am running a Hackintosh now and I have used KDE since the pre-1.0 days as my desktop of choice almost think I will own a Mac soon if I can get by the sticker shock as they say damn expensive for what I would want to get...

Looks cool, KDE 4.0 was pretty much still a beta though, and they said so too...

That is true. The argument was basically about the name, as 4.0 suggests a stable release, but clearly it is not.

sure, its really pretty - but please read the last sentence of the article too, at least before you get overexcited and try this revission:

General stability The stability of this revision is very low. I experienced problems with windows scaling and drawing (in such case usually the minimize-maximize pattern used to fix it). Plasma was very unstable as well. It would crash completely in an unpredictable manner leaving a blank screen with no icons and toolbars whatsoever.

I was thinking about installing it too ftom svn, but beeing in need of a more or less stable system, I'll wait until 4.1 is really ready in june :(

Same here.

There was no mention of Amarok, is version 2.0 scheduled to be released with 4.1?

Just downloaded it! I'm actually posting from it now! I think in it's simplicity it is going to get a lot of users?

Allesandro:

"Yes. Very nice, but a bit too dumbed down (I couldn't even find a terminal)."

if you use the command line from the green "G" in the top left corner, and you type TERMINAL, its like spotlight it finds it for you

I think the old PC I just put in the basement just got another life extension!!!

SticMAN

this is not KDE issue but has anybody tried this?

g OS

No offend, but to me it looks like an aqua mockup.

Except the 2.5 years old StefanKa Longhorn theme with the glassy window-borders.

They even took the same drive icons :( But besides this, I bet KDE 4 will be a good gui.

(Personally, I prefer gnome if I have to use Linux).
