Has anyone used this program yet with osx86? i installed it on mine and it is slow as all hell!! i try to play a song and it tells me that the cpu is too slow... i installed the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext to speed up my hard disk access, but i still have the same problem. anyone have any other tips to speed up the cpu? or is this a software problem?

Yeah, I also tried Reason 3.0!

Sucks! Playing 4 Tracks and I got the same Waring "CPU to slow".

Think the problem (on my system) was the unaccelerated GFX-card. Needs a lot of time for drawing!

I installed Reason last night and encountered the same problem. The CPU usage by reason is ungodly on x86pc. I'm going to attempt to install the the 3.03 update, as it addresses some CPU usage, but I'm not sure if it will help. I'll update later and let you all know.

Anyone have any clues to why it would be taking a {censored} all over itself, so I have a place to start tinkering?

I have the same problem...

I would imagine that it has something to do with the fact that we're all running software sound emulation. Even in Windows, my system gets juiced to about 50% running Reason 3.0 off my AC97... That drops to about 20% with my Audigy 2 ZS.

Also, Reason 3 takes up more CPU time than 2... try finding a 2 demo and see if there's a difference?

I tried rendering one of the sample songs to AIFF, and I found that it sounds different from the same song rendered with a G4 machine. That was a real surprise, I would expect the rendering to be identical, no matter how long it takes on x86. Does rendering make use of the audio hardware?

has anyone come up with a solution to this? I tried using both my usb soundcard (a yamaha u200) and my onboard sigmatel, and it doesn't solve the high cpu load problem at all. I'm thinking about getting a firewire soundcard, but does it have something to do with the fact that i'm on a sse2 processor???

btw I downgraded to reason 2.0 and it seems to work better, though the cpu usage is still quite high for a dual core machine. :/

This sucks! Reason ran tons better on my windows machine (which is an athlon 1.4)

I don't know why, but Reason 3.05 runs perfectly on my hackintosh (A8N Sli, GF6800, Athlon64, 3000+ supports SSE3, 1 GB Ram, using onboard sound with a latency of 6ms) and on my hackbook (Asus A6Va, SSE2, using Behringer UCA 202 usb soundcard, also a latency of only 6ms), even better then under windows, its really fast, also does Ableton Live and Logic Express 7.2 . Im using the uphuck 10.4.9 DVD at the moment, but it also worked great with JaS 10.4.8.

And none of you checked Props site to see 'IntelMac' compatibility? Amazing. Try to remember IntelMac is a relativly new concept, and most developers still need to update their software for compat. Hence your versions of reason wont work properly unless you have the correct version.
