  1. Important Forum Changes...

I think that for the most part people don't really understand the scope of whats changing and not changing, and everyone, just stick with us and see. I can promise you it's not as drastic as has been accused.
  2. MacOSX "news"

I'm just amazed they kept the lid shut for so long...that's a feat in and of itself.
  3. kdp_poll: no debugger device

Try one of the following at the boot options menu. The platform in the deadmoo image and the platform in the DVD install is likely to be different. platform=ACPI platform=x86pc platform=ADP2,1 If this corrects the problem, you can add the correct platform assignment in the com.apple.boot.plist file located in library->preferences->system configuration. Place it here. <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>platform=whatever</string>
  4. Kajy, VERY cool. Thanks a lot.
  5. you mean physically, on your keyboard? hmm, havent thought about that. Interesting.
  6. This post is for users with 865 chipsets (as far as I know). I originally ran the deadmoo image, and was able to enable QE by copying the three 830 (830, 830GA, 830GLDRIVER) files from the darwin iso. The only editing i did was putting my device id (2572) in the integratedgraphics kext. Worked awesome with the deadmoo image. QE installed perfectly, life was good. In the com.apple.boot.plist, was running platform=x86pc Recently (today) I patched the release1 DVD (thanks br0adband and bender12) and installed that way. Worked good, good deal. One hell of an effort, awesome job guys. I've got nice HD speed improvements. ...Only.... Problem: My same patching methods for QE no longer work. Two major issues worth mentioning here. First, I remember issues with display crashes if the device id's inside the integrated graphics and 830 kext did not match the 830GA.plugin. Using the darwin 830 kext files though seemed to go around that (originally). Now, they crash the display. Altering the 830GA for my proper display id will cause the display to work, but no QE. Secondly, if I try to run platform=x86pc now, i receive a kdp_poll debugger kernel panic. I can only run under platform=ACPI. Long story short, there is an obvious difference between my patched dvd install and the deadmoo image. Anyone have a similar issue, or know what direction I can start looking to work this? **EDIT UPDATE** Damn thing is working now, with previous steps listed above. I'm almost afraid to turn my machine off lest it does it again. I'm scratching my head, but I'm not sure what solved it. Oh well.
  7. release1 patch extraction error

As sad as it seems, I've encountered a lot of these errors, not only on this rar, but many others as well. I use and trust winrar, but when I get errors with winrar, I download winace. 50 percent of the time simply using a different extraction tool fixes these errors. Not always, but worth a shot.
  8. AC97 Problem!

that kext is located on the darwin-x86 8.01 iso
  9. Apple's Mighty Mouse

According to Apple's website on the mouse: Mac OS X v10.4.2 or later Enable or disable scrolling, assign primary and secondary buttons, activate Exposé, display Dashboard, open Spotlight, switch applications or open applications. Mac OS X v10.3.9 or 10.4.1 and earlier Assign primary and secondary buttons and activate Exposé. Display Dashboard in Mac OS X v10.4 or 10.4.1. I dont mean that there isnt some way to fix this (i honestly dont know), but the above is straight from the horses mouth so to speak. You might be out of luck unless Apple upgrades their dev kit to a later version sometime soon.
  10. Audio, Configured But Not Working...
