Hi Mysticus,

Here is a pleasing cosmetic difference between NVkush and NVinject (at least on my installs), with NVkush.kext being the winner IMHO...... :D

NVinject.tiff

NVkush.tiff

So perhaps you might consider including the NVkush.kext in afuture version of your updater?.... :)

Cheers

Haxi ;)

lol huge difference indeed :P

how many times are you gonna go and check you system profiler? you know that you have 8600gt already, saying gdx by nvidia or 8600 gt wont change the fact :P

plus do you know how much time consuming for updating and changing stuff in a 650mb file? not to mention making :P for it... i will stick to nvinject currently for all the settings i have done already, unless...

if nvkush automatically finds memory amount in the cards that reduces the amount of work nicely... can be used in future... :)

Wait for it......

The point is you do not need to "input" this information into the profiler, NVkush (http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/#) apparently "finds" this out when it runs and hence modifies the profiler during booting..... see below....

That is why I said a future version, i.e. only if and when other mods are required to your updater.....

It does at present up to 256MB VRAM..... hence I am :)

After installing NVkush post-200327-1213032220_thumb.png without my changing the display resolution in System Preferences/Displays.... to better match my 19@ LCD monitor...... :)

and Diabolik has a neat online .plist generator to hardcode your VRAM if above 256MB....i.e. 320MB, 512MB, 640MB and &68MB at present (see http://diabolik1605.com/plister/)..... ;)

post-200327-1213032208_thumb.png

which could perhaps (I am sure you will tell me if this is not possible.... :( since I am not an expert on these things like you, having only just recently joined the online InsanelyMac x86 OS X community!) could be incorporated as an offline .plist generator into your next major updater package..... ?

can be used in future... :)

BTW Thanks for putting up with my posts..... I know you must be fed up with all the "NooBs" and "Newbies" by now.... so I won't second guess how you view me.... :) and still for taking the time to reply to my posts.... :)

generator is not a solution really  it is still a manual step, when you complete all of the memory configs, you will get same as nvinject+name tags :)

if it could (which i dont know how easy or diffucult) find the memory amount by reading from the card itself, it would have been one step solution, generating manual step is not good for everyone... you can use the nvinject and add your gfx card name in it as well... so it would look the same... :D look inside nvinject you will see you can do it...

Hi Mysticus, NVkush may be interrogating the card hardware.... unfortunately however my digital camera is not working at present for me to get very good image off screen when booting -v mode but I have taken an image with my mobile phone camera for you.... :)

Thanks Mysticus, I got it running tonight. and it has yet to crash.

Onboard ethernets not working... reading that thread tomorrow

and

my monitor resolution is only 1024X768... but it booted.

I must have missed the part where you said to format the HD using MBR not GUID because that was hanging me up all this time...

(EDIT: MBR works but it's not the preferred method. I was having boot problems I sorted out later.)

Anyway thanks for your help, even though you didn't have to answer any of my stupid questions. :P

which osx did you use? (if you are gonna start fresh again, use kalyway 10.5.2 dvd and read the entire post#2 proparly and understand what kind of things in there before you jump to the anything)

also you are not reading the guide correcly! (read post#2 regarding frequent problems section at the very beginning) on board lan will cause u more trouble than good...

I've read just about everything in this topic.. Still i am a newbie.. I have included my specifications and if possible i would like to receive further help regarding my installation of OSx . Thank you .

for whom concern about how nforce(680i) deal with Apple USB Ethernet

- no freeze/no hang

- stock driver that comes with 10.5.2 or above will work great

- a very mild mouse laggy "sometimes"

:) no way to solve this yet.

you have 790i mobo which means you will have trouble booting off the dvd and installing on your internal hdds... you may be able to install using usb dvrom and usb hdd than modify the device ids... also, you will never get 2 nvidia cards working and boot untill there is a tweak/patch or real support for it... plus i dont even know if 9800 gx2 (already a dual card) has drivers for it (patched or not)... you just joined the forum and you already have tons of incompatibility in your system, you will be a seriously big headache if i try to help you... so it is down to you go get some usb enclosures for hdd and dvdrom, and a bit of searching about how to find your sata/pata controller ids and add them later to nforceata driver...

i m no way gonna explain this whole process to you as I know what is coming... you gotta to read around a lot and try on your own first...

oh I read correctly and I did read the whole post. I knew it'd give me problems going in -- during install I disabled it, and knew the odds of getting it to work were against me. I'm going to try anyway, but I'll bug someone else for help in that arena. If I can't get it working, then I'll just buy a 3rd party card... If I remember correctly you made a few card recommendations earlier in the thread. (Or I read that somewhere on the forum.)

I used the iAtkos r3 installer (it's in my sig). I'll try the Kalyway 0.5.2 once I can track it down per your suggestion.

Basically, I wasn't asking for help, I just wanted to drop a quick note of thanks!!!!, and let people know if you follow the right steps, and remember to properly format your drive, it works! :)

I hope to continue to develop my x86 chops and help out in the future. Okay, back to luking.

Thanks once again for making a great guide.

Hi, I have a nForce 650i board with a ata dvd drive and i connected an IDE HD to install iAtkos 2.0 (which is the only one i can get to boot with my hardware using the nforce kernel).

Once i'm in the installer GUI, for around 2ish minutes everything's working (apart from PS2 keyboard) then suddenly, the whole computer panics and locks up (lights on the mouse do not change - cd drive dies completely, if left it will return to full speed but screen etc is still locked). I can sort of imagine that the CD drive is timing out, but i really can't be sure. Hopefully someone can help, it'd be really helpful to me finally getting Leopard on this system.

Cheers in advance.

Can anyone help, I finally got OSX to install (turned out i overclocked my cpu incorrectly and the computer was just generally locking up!)

However after I install, I reboot and I get an error along the lines of ACPI

Does anyone know which Kernel to pick (i've chose Non-efi Nforce SSE3 kernel)

I'm using iAtkos v2.0, and need this fixed asap :(

you wont get an answer until you read post#1 and 2 carefully, esp how to report problem and what to do b4 report...

After having read this awesome thread for the past 3 or 4 days, and hours of profanity and feelings of resent towards my pc I have failed to install a working copy of iAtkos v2.0i on my desktop. (I have a working copy on my laptop)

STILL WAITING FOR ROOT DEVICE (Oh great another stupid one of these problems)

I have tried every different bios setting recommended in this thread and other threads,

(disable jmicron, disable floppy, disable firewire, disable audio,

-bought an ide dvd drive.

-physically unplugged anything sata inside of my computer,

-unplugged ethernet cable

-Tried jas 10.4.8 and Kalyway 10.5.2

Hardware:

Asus P5n-e sli 650i

C2D e6600

2gb ddr

Efx7600gt w/2 monitors

ide dvd drive (slave)

sata dvd drive

sata hard drive

PS2 keyboard <- could this be the problem :)

I honestly feel like banging my head through an lcd as there seems to be no logical solution to this stupid error message! I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone has to offer as getting this opperating system on my desktop is something that needs to happen!! :P

post-172805-1213603021_thumb.jpg

use your ide dvd drive to boot and install... also is your bios set proparlly?

execute disable bit = enabled?

sata ports = ahci mode (not ide mode!!!)

kalyway should boot and install fine, your problem is either you are using sata dvd and/or your sata ports are not in ahci mode... the error means boot process cannot identify your pata/sata controllers and therefore cant find propar hdd to be able to install...

Thanks Mysticus C,

I did have my bios set to those 2 settings, and I was also booting from the ide dvd drive.

Today I changed the jumper setting on my ide drive from cs to master.

I also installed an ide hard drive as master on a different channel.

Unplugged my sata drives

After doing so I now get " SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0X04, ASC = 0X08, ASCQ =0X01 "

followed by " Still waiting for root device "

I get the same error weather it is from iatkos2.0i or kalyway10.5.2, both with correct md5sums

Any other suggestions?

indicating that either your dvd rom is not capable of readin your dvd, or you burn your dvds faster than 4x which makes dvds unreadable, or cause trouble readin it... i would suggest burning your iso s at max 4x or less speeds... no higher than 4x!! and try again...

Alright, well I burned a fresh copy at 1x and still get the same results.

I did use one of the discs that I tried to install with on another machine and had success with that, any other ideas?

check for a bios update... than make sure your sata ports are set to AHCI MODE!!!! and NOT IDE Mode...

also try using usb keyboard and mouse to see if it has any conflicting effect...!!!

use Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD...

the message shows that it finds a device but cant initialize it due to some trouble... like i said, use kalyway 10.5.2 dvd

and make sure your bios settings are correct and up to date... bcoz i ve seen couple of same mobos had successfull installs... so it is down to your settings or your devices, like mobo bios old, or bios settings not correct...
