For sure I´ll download the fixed version of the update.

 

Today I tried to update from a fresh install of Kalyway DVD and ran the update. This time I was using only 2 sticks of memory and got stuck same way. My monitor don´t show any desktop screen.

 

 

Any idea of what´s may happening here??

 

In the customize window, just selected basic stuff.

 

Maybe I should wait a little more to update.

Mine 10.5.2 is working nice.

You got problems with the new vga drivers from 10.5.3,

so you can try to restore the 10.5.2 drivers or ... move on,

use nvkush.kext to solve your problems.

1) 10.5.3 OSX Combo Update and Fix 10.5.3 are necessary and selected

2) Kernels : By default nothing is selected, however update package will install 9.2.0 Sleep Kernel automatically, and if anyone wants something else, check your desired Kernel Selection, including 9.3.0 Vanilla. Vanilla is not default anymore.

3) Drivers: By default, no audio/video/network selected, but chipset drivers selected, unless you know what you are doing, dont touch chipset selections. Install anything you need.

Special Note to Nvidia VGA Owners: 10.5.3 Nvinject drivers has been added, now you can have QE/CI back on track

4) Patches:

Mac.Pro Named Smbios by Mac.Nub is selected and works quite well, however if you know what you are doing, you can change this setting to any other, but suggest not to touch it.

USB: If you have issue with your High Speed Bus (aka USB 2.0 Controller) you can use this driver. However do not confuse this driver as USB NOT MOUNTING (read frequent problems section above for details of usb not mounting issue) fix. This is totally different. Make sure you understand the difference.

5) Usefull Program: By default none is selected. I recommend all of them.

Candybar: to change/sort your OSX icons.

Colloquy: IRC client

Kernel Installer: Very simple kernel install program for newbies

Kext Helper: Very simple kext (aka driver)l install program for newbies

Perian: Various video/audio codecs for Quicktime. Think of it as multipack codec pack to play majority of the video files, in quicktime without need of any 3rd party apps.

VLC: This is all-in one multi purpose video/audio player. Even if you have perian, this is one of must-haves...

 

Edit: Addition to gfx and kernel related changes, ICH ids added (except Jmicron ids, sorry) to new driver and hdd icon problem is solved for Intel Chipsets. Credit to Dense and Cyclonefr for pointing these out

Note2: Please make a habit for booting with -v -f after you change drivers and/or major updates installed.

dont download the ....filepart file, it is the one being constructed... it is not ready yet!... once done, i will post confirmation... sorry for the inconveince... it was needed, because this update package now became universal for intel nforce via chipsets...

haxi: Find "EFIStudio.app" to automate gfx strings. (Sorry I don't know where I downloaded it, and searching hasn't found it). Then you don't have to worry about NVInject, or NVKush (which worked for me BTW). I followed a link... maybe it was on netkas.org ?

Thanks for reply. I too have 10.5.3 running fine after using Mysticus's original 10.5.3 V1.0 updater package but with NVkush and ProbeScore=0.

 

I am just trying out Mysticus's 10.5.3 V1.1 updater package on my OS X test volume.

haxi, what options did you choose? please report propar details... so i can track down the error files... so fix them later... (one of the easy ways to track down the error in the installer is to choose window/show install or something like that, and its option as show all messages... check where it shows the error, and what it says there... it will help me find the exact error!== of cource to choose window menu on top left part of the screen, is to have installer choosen first only then its menu gets activated... you know what i mean?)

 

also difference between 1.0 and 1.1 is related to intel chipset and ahci drivers mainly... + of cource new nvinjects with probescore=0

thanx for the pm, figured out the problem, i m gonna fix it again, and then will fix the trumpet once again... it is caused by the script... i will replace the current script with better one to figure out if you have natit/titan/nvinject previously first only then, it will remove them first... right now it as trying to back them up and delete... obviously when it cant find, it is giving error...

 

so another problem is nvinject, i will update the package again today to fix those scripts, and hopefully end of the day it will be ready...

 

in the mean time, use pacifist to extract/install only the correct nvinject... nvinject is working, but installer script is preventing it from installing small workaround until i reupdate the package... sorry for the inconvenience...

Mate, I know it´s very bad to do a job and then see that have little problems in it, but you don´t have to say sorry for that.

You´re such a great guy helping everyone around here, that it´s not an inconvenience if something doesn´t work for the first time.

With your knowledge you could just do all this things for yourself but don´t... you´re sitll here helping people.

For sure when something goes out the way you planned and the script, update package or something else doesn´t work the way it should, for us, it´s not an inconvenience.

 

What makes us coming back here all the time is people like you, that have a tremendous knowledge and helps us with our problems.

Don't worry about it too much Mysticus, as without your V1.0 10.5.3 updater used with NVkush and ProbeScore=0, I would not even have a working 10.5.3 system! The only slight problem I have, which may have been true with 10.5.2 , is that on waking from sleep, I do not seem to keep the previous functioning IP address - must investigate. this is the main update thread i made so it is kind of universal now... thats why i had some of the hassles... i didnt check everything before, (i still didnt check some of them but they are minor parts...) but now most of the additional scripts have been fixed so it should work hopefully (i say i should because i cant test every single one of them... and there are way too many files as you can see... some of them had to be recreated to work proparly, some from here and there... so hopefully it will work this time w/o hickups...)

Hi Mysticus,

 

I have downloaded and installed your V1.2 Updater package. It has gone a

lot better as follows:

 

1. NVinject works without giving blue screen on re-booting after install

but on changing screen resolution from 1152 x 870 @ 75Hz to 1280 x 1024

@ 75 Hz the display still switches to a blue screen w/o cursor requiring

a re-boot to get a 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz setting.

 

To be fair, this has been true of all my OS X 10.5.2 and 10.5.3 installs – is it always

like this for everyone, or just nForce mobos, or just nVidia cards etc. or is it just

my install /setup?

 

However, I did have to set this display setting twice with a –v –f

reboot each time to get it to stick.

 

2. Taruga AD1988B rev4 installer does not appear to work for my ASUS Supreme-FX sound card – System Profiler comes up

with "No Built-in Audio" and loudspeaker icon does not appear in top

menu bar.

 

3. Kernel is 9.2.0 but System.kext still shows CFBundleVersion as 9.2.2, so USB devices do not mount.

i will check the installer but it should not have been 9.2.2... in the update package it is 9.2.0 so it should have been replaced but yours may have been already 9.2.2 b4 the update that may explain... but fix is easy, check post#2 for usb mount fix installer... just install it with only system.kext selected... should fix it... i should have added one more additional script to delete any previous one... my bad, but it is already good enough right now, thats only minor issue... and not really caused by my installer in the first place, it is kalyway's fault allowing 9.2.0 kernel and 9.2.2 system.kext... in the first place... in fact almost all install dvds have this trouble i m not planning anothe update package although the fix will be done in only 1 sec work it will take me 4 hrs to replace trumpets for both premium and free... actually it can be easy to replace just free links so no worry for twice...

 

i may do it during today, and perfect the installer... although i know it is not perfect bcoz of there have been so many files involved, it needs to be checked for each scripts...

 

main update package itself has 40+ scripts... add that almost every package... 100+ scripts... i dont wanna waste my time fixing all... let people learn a bit on their own...

i will fix that issue as well in order to make sure intaller will work as intended...

 

I am quite sure that there will still be issues especially laptops... people with laptops dont know how the internal displays work, in fact i m not quite sure if the laptopdisplay.kext really fixes it or not either... also amd machines need some special decrypting as well... also some specific systems have troubles with individual hardwares/devices, they have specific fixes for them, when people dont know these or report files, cant implement a fix for these... But people who joined 1 yr ago still dont even know what kernel works for them, what is a driver, which drivers they are using/needing... it is much harder to find out problems when you deal with this kind of people...

I have problems with the internet, how the network drops. I tried using an old PCI ethernet adapter but unforunately it was the rtl 8139 chipset.

 

 

 

My question is: would buying the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter work? Anyone tested it and found out if it the network drops / computer freezes?
