Mysticus C*
well. I am in leopard. I have video card drivers, and I have on board lan working............I installed the nforce ethernet driver I found in this thread, and on reboot it was recognized and working, no problem!!! I am absolutely amazed right now, this is incredible! Now my only question is whether EFI is working, and when I say EFI, I mean the official updates from apple, etc. I am having a problem unpacking the 10.5.2 update and the gfx update, it says "unable to unarchive "kalywayupdcombo10.5.2.zip" into "desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted) I feel like this is an "is it plugged in" error. But I am fairly new to the workings of OSX. Thank you so much mysticus!! what did you use to install osx in the first place? and you have what? also yo have misconception of official updates... not everyone can do the official updates, and not all updates can be used safely w/o bricking certain functions if not all... efi alone is not the main factor... it is just original mac bootloader's emulator... so you get closer to original macs, however original macs have intel chipset which makes the story a little different for nforce chipset... thats why you are on this topic in the first place... also there is no such thing as perfect install or perfect system for hackintoshes either... all the systems have their own goods and bads... so before you make conclusion you read around first and understand what is what. Only than do whatever you wanna do... dont just do things because you assume something... just learn the fact... rest is easier to find if an answer exists... breakingbad
Hi. I know that being new to something is very hard, but in this case specificaly, you´re new to using even Windows, how do you want to install OSX?? I´m not here saying that i´m an expert to something, but if you can´t even decompress rar files and burn it to a dvd, you need to learn it first, and i´m quite sure, you won´t get this lessons here. The only thing I can tell you to solve your problem is: - Put all the rar files you got from RS into one single folder. - Extract ONLY the file #1 to same folder or another from your choice. - Voi lá. Get you .ISO file. - Open any burning software and choose your .ISO file. - Put a blank DVD into you DVD-ROM drive. - Choose the slowest speed you can - BURN IT. If you can´t do that, I don´t know how to help you. I hope this is enough to understand how to unpack .RAR files. muitommy
the best way is if someone don't even know the basic things, they could use search engine (if they don't even know << ), they should go ask their friends .. or people who are quite free ... "experts" here are meant to help people with problems that can't be solved by the most of the people. Mysticus C*
it is frustrating sometimes trying to help people, but I cant help being angry, because of this type of messages I receive are once a week... People dont even know how to extract a file trying to install osx will just cause more waste of time... One thing I hate the most, is that google is at your finger tips, to search, yet people just go to a forum or PM someone for help without not even reading a single line anywhere... cigarettes
what did you use to install osx in the first place? and you have what?also yo have misconception of official updates... not everyone can do the official updates, and not all updates can be used safely w/o bricking certain functions if not all...efi alone is not the main factor... it is just original mac bootloader's emulator... so you get closer to original macs, however original macs have intel chipset which makes the story a little different for nforce chipset... thats why you are on this topic in the first place... also there is no such thing as perfect install or perfect system for hackintoshes either... all the systems have their own goods and bads... so before you make conclusion you read around first and understand what is what. Only than do whatever you wanna do... dont just do things because you assume something... just learn the fact... rest is easier to find if an answer exists...I understand the updates, and what allows you to emulate having an official mac, and therefore getting full support, etc. I have just heard many mixed answers on what you need to be able to emulate the bootloader. I have heard you need JUST an intel mobo, or JUST the intel chipset, which obviously, I do not have. But I have read many times all you need is a newer intel cpu, meaning a C2D and above. I admit I havent had time to research it as much as I should as I have spent all my time worrying about getting OSX installed.I used iAtkos r3 for the install, I followed your guide on choosing what to install. I unzipped the pkg for the 10.5.2 update, and put it on a disc, so I can update using that now. However I cannot download the gfx update (my lan driver is unstable under load and crashes the computer), and I cannot run it when I put it on a disc from vista and copy it to osx, I get the error I posted last time.I am now searching for a stable lan driver, as its nice to be able to surf pages etc. But having the computer crash every time the lan is under load, is definately a huge drawback."I have a rar program and I am using Magic ISO. I don't understand if you want us to make 1 ISO disk with all the rar files on it.I am downloading the Kalayway 10.5.2 rar files from RS and when I extracted the first rar it had install instructions but no further instructions on how to burn one ISO of all rar files or to burn 38 separate ISO disks (i don't think this is what you intended). So, If we are to make one ISO which rar should we extract that has boot information on it?Completely lost at this point. Sorry for the ignorance. I read the rest of your tutorial, but nothing covers this initial part."Eek. Basically, if you extract from the very first rar file, the entire ISO will come out, and that is all you need to burn. There are 38 rar files because that is just how the single ISO is compressed. Just extract the ISO from the #1 rar file, and that is all you need to burn to disc. All I can say is good luck with the rest of your install...it is frustrating sometimes trying to help people, but I cant help being angry, because of this type of messages I receive are once a week... People dont even know how to extract a file trying to install osx will just cause more waste of time... One thing I hate the most, is that google is at your finger tips, to search, yet people just go to a forum or PM someone for help without not even reading a single line anywhere...I understand your frustration completely, but in many cases, really simple answers, such as the one he requires, are not exactly found with a simple google search. And it's because not many people have the problem he does. I remember the first time I encountered 30+ rar files for 1 iso, I just used common sense, noted the size of each rar file, and that within each of them, was the same ISO. So I extracted from the #1 rar file, and had my ISO. But for a few seconds I was as confused as he is. And in other peoples defense, I know for my problems I spent almost 2 1/2 weeks searching non stop on this forum+ a couple others, trying to find an answer to my problem, before it came down to making a post. Sometimes you just don't know what to search for, sometimes the answer is spelt wrong on the forum, so it wont show up in your search, etc. And google can be a huge pain in the ass with giving you terrible results. However, thats not to say people need to make a thread or post for ever simple problem you encounter in life. Part of LIFE outside of computers as well, is finding solutions to your problems, without anyones help. It is just a fact of life, no one will hold your hand when you are thirty years old. So get used to solving problems, using the tools at hand etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/56/#findComment-758706 Share on other sites
Mysticus C*
download the files in windows and put them on a flash disk, keep the flash disk in usb slot, and restart, to osx ... usb should mount, and you can install the rest from there... which part is hard? i dont understand... about your original updates fact; since you are on nforce chipset, before going for major updates or special ones time to time, make sure you check the forum's front page, there is usually warning over there, if not ask for it on this topic...(like time machine fix which introduced new kernel, and some other things that crashes nforce chipsets...) what updates are safe? + usually single program updates like for iphoto, quicktime, itunes, safari etc are safe + securiy updates should be safe as well... what may not be safe? + Gfx updates, check if it supports your gfx card? + gfx firmware == dangerous! + major updates like 10.5.2 or upcomin 10.5.3... + special updates like time machine update which brings new network files and kernel and some other stuffs... which indeed will make your os temporarily bricked (not in real terms, bcoz solutions are pretty easy when you know what to do) there are ways to install these updates but first you must learn to search and read! most people dont have this habit, many people are advanterous a bit and they first brick their system, and then ask for reason... When you´re attempt to boot, choose your Leopard partition and the press F8 and type cpus=1 -v to see what messages you get and where your system hangs. Every time you get error messages, the best you can do is post the error message here so everybody can figure out what your problem is. I had some problem with this screen and I could only figure out what caused the error when I showed what was happening to my system. []´s @MYSTICUS and MUITOMMY Kabyl posted the mod BIOS to MSI P6N SLI Platinum mobos today. I´m just a little "affraid" of flashing my BIOS and something goes wrong. I have to search first the subject "how to recovery from a bad bios flash" - LOL. Mysticus Should I be able to boot using the 4 cores of my processor just after the BIOS flash or you have to guide me till I get all cores working??? I should remember you, that I´m using the Leopard 10.5.1 because I got that kernel 9.2.0 error message when updating to Kalyway 10.5.2 following the #2 post. Hope to hear from you.
