Dojomann
I can't remember for sure but I'm almost positive I tried the chameleon bootloader before and it still didn't work, but I may be wrong, so give it a shot anyways, it can't hurt. I'm in the process of setting up a dual boot mac/vista setup so I can still {censored} around with with mac stuff, and be productive come time for school again. Can't WAIT for university to start. So bored right now. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87077-hp-tx1000z-tablet-compatibility-with-leopard/page/32/#findComment-844064 Share on other sites

So bored right now. Take a summer class. @Mass-Face The overheating is definitely an important issue. I've actually got a 1st degree burn from my laptop. Also, the overheating causes the fan to go crazy and the laptop gets too noisy. We are going to try to optimize the driver to reduce overheating and fan noise. We are also trying to develop the driver without any dependencies because we want this driver to work in Snow Leopard with little or no work required to update it. Dojomann
Hey guys, having a bit of an issue getting leopard on the lappy again, basically I'm getting ready to try out the drivers that will inevitably come out, and wanted to do a dual boot meanwhile. I had only vista installed on my tx2110ca, and basically shrunk my partition and made a second one for leopard. It was also a primary partition. Next, I formatted it to HFS+ journaled (not case sensitive) through the disk utility, and installed leopard on it from leo4allv2. Upon boot, it says HFS+ partition error. To fix this I removed the leopard partition, and set my vista partition (partition #1) as active again and was able to boot back into vista to type all of this. Now, I know if I completely re-format and repartition the drive through disk utility in the installer it will work fine, but I don't want to reinstall vista. Is there any way to get around this? El Massman
have you tried setting the vista partition as active after installing leo and then using EasyBCD to add leo to the boot menu? that's exactly how i set it up and it worked perfectly. hope that helps. Dojomann
Holy poop, I didn't know you could do that. I'll give it a shot. Will report back soon. EDIT: Worked like a charm. Re-doing all my installs now in preparation for some possible alpha testing. Dojomann
Hey guys can someone with a tx1000 or 2000 or any amd system post their AppleSMBIOS.kext, but only if they've upgraded to 10.5.3 and then 10.5.4. This would help me out quite a bit and save me a reinstall. Granted I screwed up and made a bit of a boo boo lol. wyzazz
@Dojo I will post this tomorrow for you, my lappy is on my dining room table. (I forgot to bring it to work today!!) That is of course, unless someone beats me to it! nyrol
What overheating problems are you guys having? I seem to be having no such problem. Sure the fan doesn't run at the lowest speed ever, but it stays relatively cool. Also, I would love to test these alpha drivers that will come out. Also, I only have to use the power switch once, yet I use the leo4allv2 on my tx1120us. AmericanYellow
UPDATE ------------------------ - Still working on coding (65% completed). No actual complete build has been prepared yet. - Alpha still scheduled to be released on time. - Testing shows that we have increased the driver efficiency by about 40%. I will be going into surgery next week to correct some damage to my arm from skateboarding last year , but this will not effect the release of the alpha. Dojomann
Sweet stuff dude! I think I speak for all of us when I say we couldn't be more appreciative of your commitment and effort. If you'd accept a small donation I'd gladly throw a few bucks your way, and hope that your forthcoming surgery goes well! the_29
Are you sure that you have v2? When you install it, at the bottom there must stand Leo4All and then V2! If just Leo4All is there, then you have V1. WLAN works just with v2 (not with v1 or v3!) El Massman
@americanyellow: i have found that using the bootflag cpus=1 helps a little with the heat issues. hope this may be of some use to you. keep up the good work. regards, Marc PS, are you planning to support dual screen with your driver eventually? zachplaysguitar5
Hi all, after a good amount of work i have everything working on my tx2000z besides sound. Looking in System>Library>Extensions, i dont see any of the three aforementioned audio drivers, even after i get a successful install through kext helper. If there is something im missing, or a certain driver i should be using, any info or tip in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. El Massman
quick question, has anyone ever tried installing leo on an SD card? i'm trying to get a triboot system with vista/xp/leo but am having a hell of a time of it. the thought occured to me earlier while looking at my cameras card. it's tiny and hardy sticks outside the case at all. plus shows up in the boot menu when you press esc at the bios splash screen so should work. i know it can boot from usb sticks. is it just me or is the thought of being able to plug something you can hardly see into your laptop and having os x and then being able to remove it and it being exactly as it was before REALLY appealing? anyone who has any experience with this or has a card big enough to try please give it a go and share the results. it seems like a really elegant solution to dual and multi boot problems, especially for newcomers who may not want to mess around with their already working system. i am limited to a 1gig card though and am reluctant to buy a bigger one without knowing if it works or not. thanks everyone, Marc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87077-hp-tx1000z-tablet-compatibility-with-leopard/page/32/#findComment-856045 Share on other sites
wyzazz
@zach You must downgrade your bios for sound to work. DL the f.04 bios from HP. @Mass-Face It should work, it will see the SD card as a USB drive. However, it will not be as fast as your Hard Drive install. There is a 150x 4GB card here. And some larger cards (SDHC) here but they are not as fast. wyzazz
No worries, I have installed WinPe on a USB Stick and an SD Card on my tx2000 with no issues. And since OSX recognizes the SD Card when it's inserted you should be good to go. As far as SD Cards go, I think our tx's can read SDHC cards so you could get a card larger than 4gb if you wanted. Just look for something with as much speed as you can afford. Let me know how you get along with this, it is a very interesting project at the very least! Dojomann
Hey all, just checking in and seeing how the project is going. Got my tablet back from repairs (nagging issues, nothing serious) and surely all has been reformatted. Anyways, I'm pretty well just itching to even get a taste of the alpha drivers that are in the oven. My next goal besides that is to get booting off of battery working. El Massman
@dojomann: have you got any idea where to start with the battery boot thing? i've tried all the APCI flags i can find but nothing. one thing i did notice, my install always hangs at dsmos on battery. could that have anything to do with it? i remember back in the day some people used R3D3 as an alternative. does anyone have a copy so we could try replacing? and is that even compatible with leo? Marc PS, found that taking out the dvd drive keeps the laptop cooler and makes the battery last longer. just use the plastic placeholder they give you with it and it's really easy to put back in if you need it for anything.
