Dear all,I have been following up this thread and finds it rather interesting and can't wait to try all of your teaching. However, before I do so, may I know if the Leopard would perform better than Windows Vista (which came with my model tx1210) as currently I find that Vista is running really sluggish with 1GB ram only.

Yes borgsquad, an absolute and definitive yes. It will run smooth... and Vista can't be said to do that at all.

It will even boot faster (for me, booting to Leopard takes 1min32sec while booting to Vista takes 3 or 4 mins).

You will copy files to USB drives at full 12 MB/sec, while on Vista I've registered speeds of 1.7 to 2.2 MB/sec.

The only case where I get full USB 2 speeds on Vista is ironically when transfering songs from itunes to my ipods (getting the same 12 MB/sec).

Applications will launch dramatically faster and will rarely crash. Even if something crashes you will be able to kill the process at your will with Force quit feature, unlike windows task manager.

Spotlight searches are truely real time... when you press a key, instantly refreshes the list of results. With Vista's "instant search" sometimes I press a key and it takes like 6 seconds to refresh results.Leopard's resource managing is incredible.

Right now I have Safari, Adium (IM), iTunes, NeoOffice, and Activity monitor working and it's only using 47% of my 1GB RAM. On Vista, just after it boots with not a single app running (not even sidebar) it uses like 65 - 70% of my RAM.

Oddly, the only thing I've seen to perform a little less than perfect, taking like 10 seconds to start is Microsoft Office for Mac... :( It's not the fastest thing, yet it does better here than in Vista.

By the way, I've noticed that when you have Word or Excel or PP opened, exposé acts strange. I've found this issue on a real mac too.

But that it's MS fault i think. Something like Apple's refusal to make itunes perform well with Vista's Aero minimizing effects.

So... my answer should be... YES, it will work better and faster. lol :)

@All:

By the way... On Vista, I loose constantly my internet connection.

I've seen that if I keep any transfer going (like downloading something), it remains connected, but as soon as connection goes idle, it looses connectivity and I cant acces internet.

Does anyone has this same issue or has solved it?I know... off the topic.... but hey, we're a friendly community, right? lol

@...TheOne...

Check your Hibernate/Standby/Power settings. I'll bet they are set to turn off HD's after a certain time, or go in to standby. In Vista that will kill your file transfer...

@All

I updated my install to 10.5.4, and the 9.04 kernel with the instructions provided by Dojomann with no issues, Thanks Dojo!

Edit: I just received a PM from Blue Copter, and he is willing to edit the first post to reflect the progress we have made. I will draft something up tomorrow and let you guys pick it apart before sending it to Blue Copter.

Hello all! I'm new to the Mac on PC scene, just installed Mac OS X on my HP tx2110us tablet a few days ago. I've skimmed the thread a little - I plan to read it thoroughly when I get the time - and thought I'd add my two cents, and maybe have a question or two answered?

I tried using Leo4All, as stated on the Youtube video, but it didn't work for me (from what I've seen already on this thread, it was probably because I used the 3 version instead of the 2). So I then moved on to Kalyway and it worked! After applying some of the patches/kexts in the download on the wiki, here is the state:

Working

--Both cores of CPU recognized

--Native Resolution

--Trackpad with Scroll Region

--Keyboard

--Sound, along with Keyboard Controls (although shows red mute constantly); sound only plays through built in speakers

--Wifi

--Touch and Stylus; not aligned

--Shutdown and Restart work as expected

--Battery indicator

--Bluetooth

Not Working

--Webcam

--Mic/All audio jacks

--Accelerated Graphics; screensavers besides flurry, photobooth, and other iTunes visualizers besides the Apple standard one do not work

--USB

--fingerprint

--Sleep function

--Booting on battery

--Small remote's media buttons (arrows and OK and sound works)

Not Tested

--TV output; Monitor output

--CD/DVD burning or playback

--Ethernet or modem

I'm still on 10.5.2, have yet to attempt any upgrades - haven't looked into it enough yet.

So far I've been using the Mac operating system for about 3 days and it's already convinced me to get a Mac as my next computer. Currently I tripleboot Vista, Ubuntu, and Mac. The only things keeping me from using the Mac portion full time (which I would love to do) are:

--USB (I've seen people write that it's working for them; any help is much appreciated! System Profiler shows flash drives and iPods but the rest of the OS does not.)

--Booting on battery (this might not be fixable right now, but for me to use this is necessary because I use this laptop at school)

Other things, such as the webcam, audio output jacks, or accl. graphics are not as important to me for now. I already am in love with this and just making it recognize my phone or iPod would be great!

On a side note, does anyone else have a problem where the mouse jumps to the bottom right area of the screen frequently if the screen is angled forwards or backwards too far? It seems like it's because of the touchscreen - might just be my unit having extra pressure there.

Thanks, looking forward to working with you all on this!

@Alex

No movement yet on QE/CI or Battery Boot, but this lappy is assuredly much better with OSX than Vista. OSX runs faster than even my 2003 Server install!!!

I've done a lot of reading on the tx2500, but have yet to actually play with one.

@BlueCopter

Welcome Back!!! Lots of updates thus far, but we are still working on some things...

@timro

Use Leo4Allv2 and follow the instructions in the Wiki entry in my sig, that should get you going with USB!!!

You guys have to keep in mind that the tx2500 is a really significant hardware refresh, and it includes the new puma amd turion ultra cpu, a completely different chipset and an ati 3200 series graphics card. For all we know it may not work at all at this point.

EDIT: sorry for my lack of proper formatting. I'm tired as heck after work and lazy.

What do you guys think of this as a first post? Any objections/suggestions?

HP Pavilion tx1000 & tx2000 Leo4Allv2 Instructions

  • Downgrade your BIOS to F.04 for the tx2000(ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38256.exe), this is necessary for your sound to work and must be done from within windows.
  • Downgrade your BIOS to F.12 for the tx1000(ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36076.exe), this is necessary for your sound to work and must be done from within windows.
  • Press F9 during boot and select to boot from CD (you must do this or you will get the com.apple.boot.plist error)
  • The disk will stop booting at IOAPIC: Version 0x11 Vectors 0:23
  • Double-Tap your Power Button and it will continue loading
  • Format your Partition or Disk using the Disk Utility during setup
  • Click the Customize button before installing & select the following options

  • AMD-System-Fix
  • TimeMachineFix
  • Third Party Drivers
  • Chipset Drivers - nForce2/3/4/5 chipset driver
  • Audio Drivers - AzaliaAudio
  • Graphics Drivers - NVidia Driver - NVinject Go
  • Network Drivers - Forcedeth Driver

  • Let the disk install once it's finished you should have a more or less working install of Leopard

  • Remember to press F9 and choose your Hard Drive to avoid the com.apple.boot.plist error

  • And also remember to Double-Tap your power button to get it to boot

  • Now download the_29's tx1000 package (http://rapidshare.com/files/109974152/tx1000Pack.zip) and install per the instructions, in a nutshell all of the .kext files need to be installed with the Kext Helper in the Applications folder, and all of the other files have their places as well, just read the instructions and you should be good to go

This should get you to a mostly working tx1000/tx2000 Leopard Tablet, things that do not work are as follows:

  • Webcam (Blue Light comes on, but picture is always green on tx2000 only)
  • Sound Jacks on front port (No mic, or sound out of jacks 1&2)
  • ACPI Power issue on boot (Double-Tap the power button)
  • ACPI Power issue, cannot boot under battery power (must be plugged in)
  • Screen Calibration does not currently work (on tx2000 only)
  • No QE/CI hardware support

To update your install to 10.5.4 follow the below steps…

  • Download the 10.5.3 update from The Bay of Pirates (10.5.3 Update for AMD Working)

  • Install the 10.5.3 update then repair permissions with the Extensions_Repair Utility in the Applications Folder and Restart

  • Install the 10.5.4 update then repair permssisons with the Extensions_Repair Utility again and Restart

  • Use the pcwiz kernel installer to install your shiny new kernel, then install the system.kext file using the Kext Installer Utility in the Applications Folder and Restart

That's it! You have a Leopard 10.5.4 Tablet with most of the Bells and Whistles up and running!

Please check the end of this thread for the most recent information related to the tx1000/2000 series laptops. This post may not always be updated as there may not always be time to do so.

P.S. Many thanks to Blue Copter for editing this first post for all of us, and many thanks to the other members of this Forum that have helped us out…

In my opinion that's perfect.

Also, i've been screwing around with nvkush/natit and have gotten a dual screen support of sorts going using the code posted in the X labs section thread. It outputs both screens to the lcd panel causing some interference though.

hey, i think better we make boot-132 with important kext.

did you read the new bootloader thread ?, its better than we make tutorial like this.

we only need make the cd with important kext and find the RETAIL OSX DVD. install it.

only that..

:)

What do you mean your video worked? just the rez or full compatibility with Q/E?

and please link to thread with the 10.5.3 upgrade, one of the main things I use on mac needs that update and has become unstable because of it.

dunno if I want to upgrade on the tx1000 tho, dont want to loose my sound and webcam, I just managed to finally get everything to work enough to where I can talk to my fiance again while she is away. being able to use cam and remote connections is the most important to me.

that and being able to remote connect to her's and my laptops with my phone.

no qe/ ci still says software btw im at 10.5.4 now with all working :thumbsup_anim:

Man, I think it would be really great for newbies that you tell them where the IONDRVSupport.kext file is located.

You know, as most of them come from Windows they may have no idea on this, and doing so, we'll avoid repetitive posts/answers.

hmmm... and for all of you that ended here by some google search looking for the location of IONDRVSupport.kext ... Double click your OSX hard drive icon on the desktop and then navigate to: /System/Library/Extensions/ there it is!

:rolleyes:

@ginosih

Ahhhh, my young Padawan... ...to gain knowledge of The Force you must read the previous posts. In all seriousness, somewhere toward the first 15 pages there are a set of steps to follow to make the on screen keyboard appear, it has something to do with the language options in the control panel. If you look you may find it, there are screenshots of where everything is located in those posts. If you can't find it, I'll outline the steps for you tomorrow morning when I get back to the office where my lappy is. Happy Hunting!!!

@Blue Copter

Thanks Man!!!
