Hi.

Just bought some new hardware, and here I am installing leo on my PC.

After downloading ToH 10.5, installation starts, and finishes succesfully after cca 30 minutes. Everything seems to be fine. I mean the installer works like it should be. Didn't take a look at the installer log but I didn't get any error messages. Linux LiveCD shows that the files are on that partition.

However, when rebooting, i get a completely black screen, with a blinking "_" symbol.

When booting the Leopard partition while still having the DVD in, i get the following message. I couldn't write down all the stuff because of the "press the power button" sign.

So here it is. Questionmarks mark that te text could not be read because the multilangual "press the power button" thingie...

Try setting no execute bit, hpet in bios (EFI may require it, or not). I have the same mb but i used iAtkos v. 1.0 10.5.1 (it requires mbr partitioning, setting the boot flag w/ gparted, and ps2 keyb and mouse).

hi, we have the same mobo btw and CPU..

ToH 10.5 didn't work for so i just moved on. i basically tried every installer there is (i think) and the only installer worked for me was the kalyway_Leopard_DVD_intelSSE3_9a527, but the thing with this installer is you have to extract it using a Mac. i happen to have installed kalyway 10.4.10 on my lappy.

what im tryin to say is if downloading isn't a problem, try other installer.

and i have 1.3 BIOS version. installation was flawlessly and recognized my peripherals except audio input.

Hi

I've just recently purchased a conroe 1333 board. Unfortunately, I can't get the kalyway installer to work. It loads up the darwin loader and then, before starting the leopard install, just restarts. Could I possibly have the wrong settings in the bios? I'm using an ide dvd drive, could that be a problem? Thanks for your time!

i got same issue. the solution is i have to downgrade bios version to 1.3 below. but this not really solve the problem. i only got succesful install on jas 10.4.8 but not kalyway 10.4.10 and leopard TOH.

only problem i can't boot to system tru hard disk, have to use cd to boot using darwin bootloader and type rd=disk0s1.

any suggestion of this problem?

I have the same board also.

I had to go from 2.X to 1.3 and flash the lbios. After that, it booted fine using the kalyway's latest disk except I had no Video drivers. I have installed MBR and GUID several times. It seems that I either get Video and Net like I have now, but no sound. I put a usb sound device on the machine and I had sound. But, that was when I had no video. So, I am trying to get sound and vdieo and net. Oh! and my machine only boots up in SAFE (-x) mode.

for the system that restarts, you have to not check vanilla.

That's all I know right now. If you guys learn more, I am at: yhmmc@yahoo.com .

I am lucky to have KALYWAY 10.5.1 successfully installed on ASRock Conroe1333-D667 ver 1 (bios flashed to 1.30)!!!! Everything work natively after installation except audio. Sleep/wakeup/restart/shutdown all work fine!!!

I did fail in my first try with all BIOS setting default, but success in 2nd time after changed following BIOS settings :-

1) two voltage settings at the bottom of chipset page to HIGH

2) Suspend to RAM setting to AUTO

(Thanks a lot for the BIOS tips from hazelh!)

Here my configuration :-

1) ASRock Conroe1333-D667 ver 1 (bios flashed to 1.30 from 1.80)

2) 2 x 2GB Transcend DDR2 800 memory

3) Intel Pentium E2140 Dual Core Processor (1.6GHz)

4) Seagate 250GB SATA 8M harddisk

5) BENQ PATA DVD writer

After I changed the above BIOS settings :-

1) booted KALYWAY DVD from my BENQ PATA DVD wirter

2) made a 250GB Mac OS extended partition and select it for OS installation

3) followed instruction of KALYWAY all the way until installation success

Hope this can help some people who own the same motherboard.

Cheer!!

Alan from Hong Kong.

what were the options that you selected for installing?

did you have EFi checked off?

I also feel strange that I didn't see any options screen for selecting installation components throughout the whole installation process.... :)

Anyway to check whether EFI installed after installation completed?

you had to click on the custimization button at the bottom left corner when jsut hte screen before the installing begins

it's got leopard ---> hard drive

I installed without customization. By default the KALYWAY installer install using EFI + GRUB, but no Vanilla kernal.

Last night I tried to re-install the OS again with Vanilla kernal and SSE2 options selected. I went into reboot loop after installation completed!!!!

Finally, I found that (from some other threads) change a BIOS setting (something like NX/DX or Execution bit .... I can figure the exact name later on) may help. I escaped from the reboot loop and run OS X smoothly after changed that!!!

First post an' all. Be gentle with me... :)

Anyway, another heads up for Kalyway 10.5.1 on an Asrock 1333-667 R1

Installed straight away like a charm. Everything except audio (ALC888, doing some reading up on this at the moment), and my Zydas ZD1211 (Branded as E-Tec XG-762N) USB wireless adapter. I wouldn't mind, but my ZD1211 worked a treat on my old JaS (I think it was) 10.4.3 Tiger.

Also, to top it off, using JohnnieCarcinogens *excellent* OpenGL/NVinject installer, my 256Mb PCIE 8600GT works happily too.

Anyway, system specs as follows.

Asrock Conroe 1333-667 R1, Bios 1.20 (glad I never flashed to latest BIOS, looking at some other posts..)

Intel E2160 CPU (BSEL modded) OC'ed to 2.7Ghz (300Mhz FSB). It will run higher, but the standard Intel cooler is not doing a great job of things, so keeping it a bit lower for temperatures sake.

2x512Mb DDR2/667

4 PATA devices, using extra Sil 0680 IDE controller. 60/120/250 Maxtor HDDs, Lite-On LH201A1P CD/DVD

For my 10.5.1 install, I used the 60Gb as Master, Lite-On as Slave on the onboard IDE headers, and installed using MBR+EFI. Not a single grumble. The Sil IDE controller is not seen by OSX mind, no worries as these are a stop-gap until I can afford some decent SATA kit.

So, an almost fully working Leopard install. Chess freezes for some reason, XBench flies along, and I can access the internet happily through a wired Ethernet connection, just not got my wireless to work yet. Posting this on my XP install, as She Who Must Be Obeyed was getting rather p*ssed off with me running a CAT5 cable all around the living room....

Any extra tips for ALC888 and wireless?

Cheers!

Hi

I have:

  • Conroe1333-667 R1 Motherboard with BIOS 1.8
  • Celeron 420 (Single Core)
  • 2 x 160 GB WD SATA
  • 2 x 1 GB Kingston DDR2
  • NEC DVD on PATA

It work the first time i tried Kalyway 10.5.1 and ToH.

ALC888 can be solved with AzaliaAudio.pkg. Look for it on Google

Whats the problem with BIOS higher then 1.2?

Ahh. I was looking for a specific ALC888 kext/set/whatever... Cheers for that!

As for BIOS higher than 1.2? Whilst reading around (I first tried a patched BrazilMAC install, post-patch/no joy) I seem to recall a few posts regarding later BIOSes for this board breaking their install. Also, reading through this one it seems some folk had to flash to an earlier BIOS to make things work. Seeing as you're all happy with BIOS 1.8, I assume that it might have been a BIOS setting rather than BIOS version that was flaking some people out.

Regardless, 1.2 works happily for me, and if it aint broke... :D

Nice to know so many successful cases here! I also playing with similar configuration with KALYWAY:-

[*]Conroe1333-667 R1 Motherboard with BIOS 1.3

[*]E2140@2.8G (o/c)

[*]1 x 250 GB Segate SATA

[*]2 x 2 GB Transcend DDR2

[*]BENQ DVD writer on PATA

Everything work fine and run solid except :-

1) Display artifacts of GM950 (still don't know how to get rid of it)

2) Only 2 ch audio out, no line in / mic in (applied AzaliaAudio.pkg, seems no solution at the moment)

3) Only 3.2GB usable memory out of 4GB (seems no solution, chipset limitation)

Please kindly let me know if anyone know the way to fix any of above problems.

Thanks,

Alan.

Everything working fine here (except Sound only 2channel via azalia)

Bios ver. 1.10

E6550

2*2GB DDR2 667MHz (also 3,2GB recognized only)

My question:

How did you guys manage to overclock ????????? I can just increase my FSB from 333 to 362 MHz, while this will ONLY work, increasing PCI-E frequency to 120MHz, also. 1 MHz more to FSB required PCI-E frequ. increased to 121 also, graphics card can manage that, BUT: when PCI-E is set to 121 MHz, none of my HDD´s is recognised anymore :P

Does anyone have a clue/hint for me ????

For overclock, you can try to set the BIOS setting to "CPU Async" , so that FSB and PCI-E frequency can be change independently.

My setting is

CPU : 350 * 8 = 2800

PCI : 117

Let us know how far you can go!

BTW, have you encountered the display artifact of GMA950? How u get through it?

My CPU Multiplyer is fixed to 7.

CPU Async is set also.

CPU: 333 * 7 = 2331 (C2D E6550 2*2,33GHz)

in my Case:

CPU: 362 * 7 = 2534 MHz

PCI-E: 120 MHz

when decreasing the PCI-E clock i also have to decrease the FSB, or the system won´t start anymore.

My graphics card is a x1950GT 512MB PCI-E, so i can´t tell about the onboard graphics :D

Hi,

I have the same problem about panics with exactly the same error codes:

Panic(CPU 0 caller 0x001a7bed): kernel trap at 0x001976bc, type 14=page fault registers:

.....

error code: 0x00000002

Debugger called: <panic>

etc.

I used -v -x -f -legacy options,

or even added mach_kernel option, but in all of these cases, the system successfully

boot, but when loading X11, there is just a bule screen in which only my mouse works.

The funny thing is that when I boot from the DVD with option rd=diskXsY everything is fine

and I can log in and work. My graphics and ethernet etc, work fine.

Tha panic stuff happens only when booting from HDD.
