Urbz
Started a topic a few days ago about a numerical keypad that complements the Apple Wireless keyboard. It died quickly and with no replies. After much thought and consideration, I took the plunge and opted instead for a wired keyboard. Great decision! As I type this on my new Apple Keyboard, I see how easy it is to hide the cord and how grateful I am that it is so spacious! At first, I thought that a wired keyboard would render my glass desk and wireless Mighty Mouse, well, ugly. I thought, "Nice. One more cord to hide. How the hell am I gonna manage this?" Thus, I wanted a wireless one. But, when the wireless equivalent is a skimpy laptop keyboard, it really makes you take a step back and consider Logitech! All I can say now is how glad I am about having gone this route instead! The Apple Wired Keyboard is surprisingly ergonomic, and it comes with an extension cord so that you can use it in all circumstances! The keys are well-spaced and all present: a definite plus over the wireless one. With a utility like FastScripts Lite, you can assign Applescripts to the function keys, and with F13 to F19 right there, it is so simple to launch Safari with a single key press. This, IMHO, is what sets it apart from others: I like not having to leave the keyboard when my fingers are already on it! Another plus is the USB ports on the sides: they are far enough into the keyboard that all you see is a wire coming out the side, adding style to whatever you decide to connect there! Bluetooth can't offer that... Previously, I had a Wireless Keyboard from Apple; the older version. This new one doesn't even come close in many regards! Its typing speed, looks, and feel are all superior. Ten nimble fingers up for the [new] Apple Keyboard! So just a word from the wise: If torn between the wireless and wired Apple Keyboards, take one last, long look at the wired one; it just may have that special quality that you don't know about yet... at least, not until you bring it home! If you're looking at another keyboard maker, consider this keyboard: you really can type quickly on it! Not a review, but my opinion and heartfelt recommendation. I love this thing! -Urbz

empire29
I love my Apple Wired Keyboard. I just wish they made a wireless (fullsize w/ standard layout and numpad) model.
shishnit
I like it, but I don't like the wired part. I too wish they had a full sized wireless model.. WHY DON'T THEY?! Does a numpad use up too much energy?
errandwolfe
Got to echo most other people in this thread, I love this keyboard! Has the best feel of any keyboard I have used in recent memory.

One more cord to hide. How the hell am I gonna manage this?" What is wrong with wires? Shouldn't it just be as long as it works great? Is everyone that pretentious and concerned with style? Sounds a little selfish and unappreciative to me... I mean for my desktop I use a wired keyboard and mouse. Who cares about wires. I am a neat, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder freak myself when it comes to flow and tidiness, but damn. I do use a wireless keyboard and mouse for my homeserver / bedroom media center (tv is the monitor), but the closest chair away from it is my bed, which is like 8 feet away... SO IDK... Also, this is not a personal attack, or trying to start a flame war. It just baffles me, I have no idea why it would matter so much. May it is just... again IDK... May it is just... again IDK...I dont think anyone that wants a wireless version of this keyboard is being selfish and unappreciative -- we all paid Apple money for the keyboard. Its not like theyre giving keyboards away and we're saying "yeah, these are ok but it would really be great if they were wireless". It has nothing to do with being pretentious or concerned with style -- its reducing clutter, increasing mobility, range and versatility. I dont see a single downside to wireless with the exception of price (generally alittle more expensive) and battery life which last long enough where its a non-issue for most. It just baffles me why someone would be so anti-wireless - I just don't see the downside of having a wired and wireless model. That being said, let me say again: I love Apple Wired Keyboard. This gets dirty soooooooooo fast. Have to clean it every 2 Weeks. Thinking of buying a LogitechHuh - ive had mine since Nov 07 and the white keys arent noticebly dirty -- if i really look at them i can see some filth. The "dirtiest" part of my keyboard if the aluminum area above the arrow keys - you can see some finger-smudge action. I haven't cleaned my keyboard yet but after reading this post i think i might. Do you smoke/eat at your computer/work as a mechanic or anything? (I have to admit, i was eating spaghetti at my computer a couple days after i got my keyboard and some sauce was flicked onto the white keys - if i hadnt wiped it off immediately im pretty sure i would have pink spots on my numpad)In a way i like that they keyboard shows dirt more readily - it gives me an incentive to clean it (though apparently it hasnt gotten dirty enough yet to provide said incentive). On a standard black keyboard they will get filthy but youll never notice because it isnt visible -- I have to imagine keyboards, on high use computers, are dirtier than most things. shishnit
Is everyone that pretentious and concerned with style? Sounds a little selfish and unappreciative to me... I honestly can't stand wires or having a messy desk, it REALLY bothers me, thats why wireless is so nice. Also behind my computer chair is a couch and i take my wireless keyboard/mouse to sit down, relax and watch movies or do other things because I can still read text from that far. If it was wired, I wouldn't be able to do so.
