Hmmm it doesnt seem to make it completely "virginized". after installing that and finding video files and zip files it seems that when i try to open them, VLC is still used and BetterZip are still used. I wish it would completely make it like a clean OS X install...

New user to macosx, was converted from windowz after Kaly's brilliant work. I tried Laik's Virginizer just to see the difference between factory defaults and Kaly's customizations, honestly I prefer what Kaly did with all the icons and apps, much better than the defaults. So now how can I revert back to Kalyway's customizations? Where would his custom icons for instance be located on the DVD? D'oh, I want my Kaly custom icons back ;)

Cheers.

Thanks Kaly for your hard work, your distribution is definitely the easiest to install! You do great work and I hope you will continue the work in the future! I know a lot of people have recommended it, but you never said if you would consider it. Do you think in future distributions you could make a virgin option in the installer? I am not criticizing your work at all. Isn't that what developers usually want, feedback from the users to improve their work? Having a simple option will surely prevent threads like this in the future and better fit the needs of EVERYONE because people can choose what they do and do not want. Seems like it should be a pretty easy thing to add as well. Again, thanks for your awesome work and I can't wait for future releases from you guys!

I actually prefer Kalyway's edited icons and dock, I'm now resenting trying the restoreFactorySettings. Would it be too much to ask for a reverse script? This is no biggie but I guess some people would like it also. I'm guessing the icons in Kalyway's distro are more tiger-like then leo? The new (leo) directory icon is especially ugly (reminiscent of gtk1 from '95 one).

Thanks

Kalyway 10.5.1 is currently the best Leopard distro I have tried. It installs fast and includes all drivers needed for my DS3 mobo. But for some reason, the the system looks rather ugly due to many pre-installed modifications and 3rd party applications.I wrote a patch, that reverts the system to its default retail look and removes all third-party applications from the system.Installation instructions:1. Download the virginizer.zip file (69MB)2. Unpack it to file system root (where Applications, Users, Library and System folders are), so everything is stored in /virginizer/3. Double click patch.command4. RebootAfter reboot you have to set orange backgrounds to white and change wallpaper manually, until I find where this settings are.As a finishing touch command-drag two question marks to remove 'em from the finder window.Virginizer won't work if ran not from /virginizer/ directory.Make sure you backup your com.apple.Boot.plist file if you've made any modifications.I suggest patching the untouched Kalyway 10.5.1 right after installation.Repair permissions with diskutil after patching, seems like I messed up a little, but nothing critical, don't worry. Please post results either if it worked for you or you had any problems :tomato: Thanx.P.S. Do you need a new patch for 10.5.2 or noone uses this any more?

I ran the virginizer on my Kalyway 10.5.2 distro with mixed results. I noticed it did replace my com.apple.Boot.plist, but my background and menu colors never changed. I followed the instructions - installed the .zip files in / via Finder and double-clicked on the command file. It asked fro my password via sudo and did not receive any script errors.Question - does this work on the 10.5.2 distro or is there a version out there that does? Also, does the Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update add any apps back? Thanks!Mark

Now how do you make a defult background for all windows? I have now sucsessfully made like 10 or so light blue (matching the interface) folders but every time I open a window that I haven't edited it's white.

So you're telling us that the Laik's patch can break the kalyway's 10.5.1 ?

Not necessarily "Break", however it will cause extreme system instability.

Easiest way to prevent this is to use my guide for the unmodded look! Tell everyone who doesn't like the kalyway look!
