guyin916 Posted December 10, 2007 Share Posted December 10, 2007 i'm a bit on the broke side, but sick of using my laptop (celeron m 430) as a daily computer. i have almost all the parts with me to build a new computer, but i am still looking for a display. i used the 24" dells at school and i am quite amazed. i can have pidgin open on the right, stretched all the way open so i can do minimal scrolling for my buddy list. i can have outlook and ..blah blah blah.. you've prolly seen videos of people doing serious multitasking on high rez systems.. that's kinda like me. i don't have much money, but i was wondering if anyone can recommend a 22 or 24" screen for me that is ... i guess mid-scale? and how do they compare to the high-end ones? I just bought an Asus VW222S 22", and it's amazing, this is the first standalone LCD I bought, I've been using laptops since 1998 so I thought didn't need . Anyway, the VW222S is really well priced, the specs are fairly good and the only thing it lacks is an DVI connector. Screen rez is standard 1680x1050. My other choices were the Asus MW221U 22" (DVI and good specs, but more expensive), LG L226WTQ 21,6" and the Samsumg SM226BW 22". The best one I believe is the Samsumg, then the Asus MW221U and the Asus VW222S and the L226WTQ are last. I paid 243 Euros for mine, but if you can, try to get the Samsumg or the Asus MW221U. Any of this choices should work well for you. I tried them all, and I couldn't see much difference between them, so I choosed the cheapest, I don't need DVI so.... I had the opportunity to buy two of them for $600 (total!), but I didn't want to spend any money at the time. Something to think about is most 22" monitors have no higher res than 20" monitors. 24" Monitors are normally higher (1920x1200 rather than 1680x1050). stellarola Posted December 11, 2007 Share Posted December 11, 2007 I upgraded to a 24" from a 20". I'm really glad I did because of the resolution. Most 20-22" stand at 1680x1050 on the res. While my 24" Westinghouse goes up to 1920x1200. That means you'll be able to watch full 1080p videos and then some. It's funny how this monitor was large to me for like a day. Unless he's edited it since your post, he said he upgraded to a 24" from a 20" I still kind of wish I'd bought the two 24" Dells. Right now I'm using two 19" Samsungs at only 1440x900.
