zandera
Ok im getting somewhere ive got osx.5 to boot (only in safe mode though) it is very usable not slow. I have fixed the problem with it restarting when you go to about this mac. Is there a way of getting the nforce 4 onboard LAN to work? and how can i fix it so that i dont need to start in safe mode? ad 1) go to /extensions there is file named fotcedeth.kext or forcedeth-d.kext inside is file named info.plist, edit file adding your nforce onboard Lan devid ad 2) try *.kext.bak NV*.kext (hal + resman) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/56/#findComment-562901 Share on other sites

Ok ive installed this now, i got past the original start up problem i was having but now after Darwin finishes starting up then i just get a black screen and it sits there doing nothing. Any Ideas? kogepan
I need help. I went through the thread. Thought I could try installing leopard on my AMD but I'm stuck at Still waiting for root device. My HD is a sata 2 I believe but I thought I would install it onto my External USB drive just in case I miss up my whole system. Can someone instruct me what i need to do to install this onto a external drive? thanks! Spec: ASUS M2A-VM HDMI AMD 690G + SB600 Socket AM2 M-ATX AMD AM2 X2 Dual Core ADO4800+ DD CPU Seagate 250.0GB ST3250410AS SATAII/16MB HDD I followed the guide from page 1 did the disk list, set my External drive to active. But i'm still getting 'still waiting for root device" can anyone help? I tried going to F8 then type -s it just goes back to loading those kernel. I'm guessing im missing a step where i need to point the installation to my external drive instead of the dvd trying to find a internal drive.? Ok i managed to get it install onto my USB external drive (after setting it to Achi instead of ide) . Then it asked to restart. I figure i need to boot into my uSB drive but i just get the blinking underscore like this _ then nothing else. Do i need to take out my dvd? occamsrazor
I was experiencing the LAN freeze bug which is apparently caused by forcedeth. I use an external ralink USB wireless, would it be possible to remove the forcedeth driver and be able to boot without the cpus=1 flag? I will not be connecting by ethernet anytime soon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/56/#findComment-563262 Share on other sites

sergiales
SERGIALES! thankyou so much for your reply, its an amd turion 64x2 tl-60 As I've seen here, it is quite a new and complete processor. It should work without problems with Zeph's Rev1. I think that your PC is a Laptop, right? Could you tell us more specs (laptop brand and name or motherboard/chipset)? kogepan
{censored}! I followed this guide Boot with the DVD and use -s at boot load. sudo -s fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX --->(X is the number of your HD, if you have only on its 0) update f X --->(X is the number of the partition where you installed Leopard) w q reboot Thought it would fix the blinking underscore. But now my XP won't even boot! I installed leopard on an external HD so it shouldn't have affect the files itself but it sure did mess up my boot sector now. How should i fix this?! Urgent help please! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/56/#findComment-563472 Share on other sites
matt simis
Kogepan, sounds like you altered the MBR on your booting drive, removing the Windows MBR. You can restore the windows MBR with the Windows CD Installer (command mode), just google it. More to the thread point, for future reference my install details and some help for others: AMD X2 4000 Abit AM2-HD (nVidia 630a chipset, not using integrated GFX) SATA2 320GB Hitachi in ACHI mode (detected during install, all ok) Onboard NIC and Sound (not working out of box or with any Kexts Ive found, not even detected by OS) nVidia 7900GT 256MB - Zephs Universal Install got Resolutions working but no QE. Trying some other installers later (from 10.5.2, the OpenGL plus NVInject 2.0 package thats floating around) Had 4 issues during install all resolved thanks to searching this forum and Google: 1) SAM Multimedia errors - bad DVDR and Drive. Switched to DVDRW and other drive and worked fine 2) Firewire Sensing errors - disabled Firewire in bios 3) Install went ok, set disc to active with Fdisk, rebooted but got the "com.apple.Boot.plist" missing error. File was there, but I didnt name the partition "leopard", renamed and reinstalled, booted into GUI. 4) Got stuck at the looping "Do you already own a Mac?" message. Reenabled Firewire (!?) and problem went away. Now need to get Network and Sound working. If I cant get onboard working, I have a Creative XMOD (may appear as generic USB Sound Device) and old DEC 21143 dual 100mbs NIC PCI card (which I believe is supported) here to test.
