I am new to this... I have a G3 mac running Tiger, but I want to use Leopard, so am looking to install it on my DV600 (DV672ee) I have followed a few guides, but i can't seem to be able to get it to even install...

Specs of my HP are:

DV6000 (DV6725ee)

Intel Core Duo CPU T5550 1.83GHZ

2GB Ram

150GB Hard drive

Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS GPU

I have the latest BIOS installed, however I have only the opion of USB Floppy, USB Hard drive and some other USB option for booting from.. but none of them seem to work with a flash drive...

Can anyone help with how I can get leopard installed.. I have tried using myHack on the image created on the usb flash drive, but doesn't seem to have worked..

If you need more info on the spec of the laptop please let me know and I will try and provided..

Any help will be of use, as I have been trying to get this to work for over a month...

Hey everyone,

I just install OS X 10.5.5 Leopard on my HP Pavilion DV6700 using iDeneb 1.3

Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS

150GB Western Digital HDD

Intel Pro / Wireless 4965AGN

Altec Lansing Integrated Speakers

2 audio input, and 1 mic input jack.

_____

Most things work but,

Sound doesn't work (in or out, internal and external)

Resolution is stuck at 1024x768, screen was at 1280x800 on Vista

And WiFi doesn't work...

And it seems Dvd / CD doesn't work (Won't read Music, Documents, or Pictures Disks, although I used a DVD to install OS X)

Any help getting any of the above working is greatly appreciated!

Hello guys,

my DV is behaving rather odd when I try to install over 1GB of RAM. It's perfectly Ok in BIOS (it does see it and I can run memtest fine) but after loading mach_kernel screen goes blank and seems like computer hangs. I've tried every combination of 667Mhz Ram: 2GB sticks (1 and a pair), pair of 1GB sticks, 1Gb + 512MB -- nothing that is over 1GB total will boot.

I have a 945 chipset and 256MB GeForce 7600 Go (CI/QE with Nvenabler Go). Does anyone can have an educated guess what could be the problem?

Not working:

Wireless

I am very impressed...I have seen alot of people have many problems i feel very lucky.

I only have one question... Any fix on the wireless that wont effect the fact that i have another hdd i swap in for my other o.s.???? any help appreciated.

I've found what was the problem. For some reason it was DSDT file. After removing one and compiling new one with iASL after booted with 2GB everything is fine.

I have a dv6704nr (amd nvidia mcp67) and i was able to install ideneb 1.6 lite - i had to install it on a usb hard drive first, and then use obsidian's kexts here on this forum here (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=126095) - then i was able to read my oen sata drives (dvd doesnt work right or wireless) i got 1024x768 to work - to install i used -x -v and only ONE fix (remove firewire) - to get ethernet to run i found a kext called nForceLan though not sure where i downloaded it (found with leopard and snowleopard drivers together) - then i created a partition on my main drive in fat32, used disk utility to erase it to mac journaled, and used disk utility's restore feature to restore it from my usb drive to my local drive. the graphics acted funny after install, but not in -x mode... so i used kextspy to see what was being loaded.. it was trying to use load GeForce.kext so i deleted that and my Extensions.mkext file and graphics- though only 1024x768 work now. i have a usb dvd writer (external) and that is fine... it works with the qoopz98 kernel, voodoo ps/2 with trackpad - chipset with 667, the voodooHDA audio (with internal speakers as the correct choice)

no snow leopard yet, this is leopard only so far. if i could get my atheros5007 wireless and nvidia GeForce7150m/nForce630m to do anything better that would be great - i did set my bios to 128mb video ram instead of ther 64mb base setup and have it now triple booting windows7 (using easybcd) with osx and also ubuntu desktop linux.

Leopard Install - Retail Snow Leopard 10.6 updated to 10.6.5

HP Laptop Model - DV9000 series (dv9535nr) Intel 1.5 GHz Intel Core w/2gigs Ram

Audio - voodoohda (using soundflower for sound delay fix)

Network - Got a broadcom wifi card, 802.11 b/g compatible, hacked bios

USB - all 4 ports work great

webcam - everything works with it EXCEPT for photobooth & quicktime video recording

Hi ptesone,

I say DSDT is pretty essential here, but also mac model in smbios.plist, what you using now? kexts, dsdt, bootloader? did you dump your machine DSDT ?

On my dv9040 I'm running with 5 extra kexts (E/E = EvoReboot, Voodoobattery, FakeSMC, S/L/E = VoodooHDA, VoodooPS2), MyHack bootloader(no memory allocation error at boot) with DSDT dumped in Ubuntu, MB Pro 5.1 in smbiosplist, never had an issue with constant loud fan.

HP Pavilion dv6226us - Leopard 10.5.2 via Leo4Allv2.

Everything works - wifi, qe/ci, usb, trackpad, keyboard, audio, except for ethernet.

Ethernet is very important to me, so I need to figure out some sort of solution. I've spent hours staring at the cmputer screen with my very slow wifi and I'm not really sure where to go. System Profiler doesn't list my ethernet card, can't find it anywhere on the web, and there's no such thing as lspci. When wired, the green light on the computer comes on, but ethernet is not even an option in Network.

I also have a legal copy of Snow, 10.6.3, but I didn't want to waste my time with boot 132 if I didn't know to what end it would most likely come.

Any help would be awesome.

Hi Bryan,

Whats you exact laptop specs ?, check your /Extra/Extensions folder and post what you've got there, open terminal, type this command:

ls /System/Library/Extensions/

and post output txt file here.

I'll try help you but to be honest it would be much easier if you spend some time and try install retail OS.

Distros like Leo4All put lots of kexts (drivers), different kernel versions, that can brake you OS functionality and is hard to trace them too.

Thanks man, but everything's solved. I have a dream Hackbook pro, with the only thing broken being sleep and headphone jack. QE/CI is even working. I used iAtkos v1.0i and most everything works OOTB. I didn't even have to use Kext Helper, because no kexts needed to be downloaded.

I have 10.5.1, and I wanted to use iLife, so I simply changed my system version to 10.5.6 to install the software. The only real work I've had to do is change the About This Mac icon back to its original version.

Again, I have an hp dv6226us and it's the best hackintosh install I've ever done. As a matter of fact, I inherited a MacBook Pro from a customer from my old computer store, and I prefer this HackBook to the actual MacBook. (It does have Snow on it, but I got it from a Marine who just got back from overseas and the case has been battered, no headphone jack, usb ports destroyed except for 1, dead pixels) so I'd rather use this than a real MacBook, because in my case, it actually means less workarounds. I'm quite happy with the accomplishment that the iAtkos distro has enabled.

Update -

Flash update borked flash player, no problems detected but video not working correctly on safari or firefox. Not working at all actually. Downgrade works to an extent, but most things (games, certain music players) either don't work at all or are not usable. Messed with systemversion.plist a lot, no dice. Uninstalls, reinstalls, nothing. After convincing my system that it was running 10.5.8, I updated Safari. Dumb idea. Doesn't work at all now. I'm going to attempt to install retail 10.6.3, if that doesn't work I'll go back to 10.5.1 but I've got a fun few nights ahead of me. It really sucks, I have iWork, iLife, Photoshop, etc. installed and lots of music and no external hdd with me so it looks like I'll have to reinstall all of those no matter what because I don't want to have to mess with boot partitions, etc. I always misinterpret the problem when my OS "won't boot" and screw my system up before realizing it was a dumb mistake on my part. So, looks like I'm wiping the HD, attempting Snow, and going from there.

Actually, ridiculously easy. Retail 10.6.3 upped to 10.6.6, Chameleon bootloader and nawcom mod cd. Everything works pretty much OOTB. I messed with a few things, like getting my Intel Pro/100 VE ethernet to show up, then I came across a SL problem that wouldn't let me connect to the internet or server but that was easy enough to fix.

So, here goes:

HP dv6226us (Intel Pentium Dual-Core)

Snow Leopard 10.6.6 via Retail 10.6.3 cd, Nawcom bootmod cd v03, Chameleon Bootloader, and Software Update.

What works:

Graphics/Resolution/QECI

Ethernet

Wireless

Firewire

Trackpad (including two finger scroll and two finger side scroll)

All USB ports

DVD drive

Internal Speakers

Internal Mic

Headphone jack

Multimedia Buttons

Fn Keys

Oh yeah, the keyboard

What Doesn't Work:

Sleep

Restart occasionally takes a while

Not Tested:

Remote Control

Time Machine (though I'm sure it will work)

My machine doesn't have a built-in webcam unfortunately so I don't know if it would work OOTB or not on similar machines.

Clear difference between cstates and pstates, no problem with hd or fan making noise in times of idle.

No sun logo, but brightness changes. That's all I really care about. The function's there. I would be more upset if I had the logo but no functionality. ;-)

I don't put my computer to sleep normally but it might be a nice idea. I've got a couple linux distros hanging around here. I used Ubuntu's latest long term stable (10.04) a lot when ethernet wasn't showing up in OSX (so I could dl kexts) so it's actually right here.

Really what I'd like to do is find a way to bake the startup sound into an EFI emulator or replace pcspkr with the startup sound. I also have thought about using afplay to load and play a sound when (in verbose mode) the kexts are loading up, so it would chime a little after the white screen, but before login.

EDIT: Yes, full battery support as well. At least, I did. I removed AppleHPET.kext from /S/L/E because it was conflicting with my ethernet kext, but that was my choice.

Ahh... Finally back to this forum.

I'm currently writing from my DV9575 with 10.6.6.

Anyone know how to get audio working? I got it working on 10.5.8, but people say that the kexts will cause a KP.

I think it's a Realtek ALC268.

Please, anyone?

EDIT:

HAHA! I got it working!

This will work for DV6000 and DV9000, I just replaced AppleHDA in S/L/E and ran Kext Utility. I guess it can be installed in /extra/extensions so that you don't overwrite when updating OSX.
